Oblivion vs Skyrim

Which do you like more ? Which you had best time with, and what are the features that make you like one of the two games more than the other ?

I'll write down some points for a comparison between them, but these points are based on my personal opinion and taste, take notice.

***Oblivion***
+ Had better facial animations
+ While most people looked ugly,at least every single one of them looked as a different person
+ Had more mini-games. Since they where optional,it was a good thing even if you didn't liked them.
+ Had better use of colors, better palette.
+ Had better explore and public sound tracks.
+ NPCs are more memorable.
+ Had extremely good graphics when it came out.
+ Had more dialogue in actual number of lines, and more inspired.
+ Had more variety of types of quests.
+ Races felt more unique and different.
+ Classes,Birthsigns,Attributes
+ Had more hazards for the player to keep in mind (diseases,curses...)

***Skyrim***
+ Has killmoves
+ Has dual wielding
+ Has horseback fighting
+ Has werewolves
+ Has better combat sound tracks
+ Has better main theme
+ Had a stronger,more cinematic main quest.
+ Has better monster animations.
+ Ability to get married.
+ Has better aesthetic design.
+ Has more modding support.

Personally I can't say if I generally prefer one game over another. I think that there are some things Skyrim does better than Oblivion, and some things Oblivion does better than Skyrim.

Oblivion
  • Better character development
  • Better factions
  • Better combat (I hate Skyrim's finisher moves that much)
  • Better dialogue
  • Slightly better main storyline (still very mediocre, but I do like the idea of an NPC being the chosen one instead of the player-character)
  • Better sidequests
  • Better NPCs
  • Better soundtrack overall - especially exploration music
  • Better UI / HUD
  • Less hand-holding (though still a lot more than Morrowind)
  • No [censored] dragon shouts
  • Much more charm overall

Skyrim
  • Slightly better dungeons (still too short, linear and bright, with predictably scaled loot at the end, but they at least felt a bit more unique)
  • Smithing (even if it was too easy to exploit, it's definitely a great addition to the series)
  • Less level-scaling (though still far too present when it comes to loot, shop inventories, and dragons)
  • Better music during battles and in dungeons
  • Better large scale battles (for an open-world game, the civil war battles were a big improvement over the battle for Bruma in Oblivion)
  • Better graphics (though arguably Oblivion's were more impressive for their time, and I prefer Oblivion's art style / setting)

Equally [censored]
  • Dragons and Oblivion gates were equally overhyped, disappointing, tedious, and unrewarding

...

There's more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Overall, Oblivion is the clear winner for me.

Overall, I prefer Skyrim.
Especially because the leveled lists in Oblivion were totally broken, and you needed mods to correct it.

Skyrim. No, wait, Oblivion. No, Skyrim. Oblivion. Skyrim.

Long story short, I can't decide. Both have flaws, but both have strengths that greatly outweigh those flaws. Both allow me to create a character, define that character and roleplay that character for hundreds of hours. Both have me utterly addicted, both have beautiful worlds and both are among my favorite games.
