Oblivion Soundtrack during beta

Post » Thu Feb 27, 2014 9:42 pm

When i last had the opportunity to play ESO the music was so lacking in the thematic department that i actually muted the music in-game and just played the oblivion soundtrack in the background, i recommend this to several other players who did the same and praised me for the suggestion, as the music in the game is just, for lack of better words, stale. At this point i feel like nothing will live up to the single player experience, but hey, whatever can make it bearable works for me. Still waiting to see if the game can possibly get any better before launch.

While i doubt anyone is going to ask the devs to go out and remake the music, i just want to point out how in-game music is a pretty big deal, and can really set the stage for what people are to feel about the game, combat, and whatever else.

If you're looking for an MMO to duplicate the single-player experience, you're going to be sorely disappointed. But really? You're going to try and make sweeping generalizations about the music?

I've liked the ESO music so far. And I especially like that it's blended themes from prior games together.

Morrowind is milestone for Elder Scrolls series. Oblivion has very good lore and I think, developer team soundtrack selection is ture. :)

Oblivion had the best intro music. Whenever I hear the first few notes, I instantly think ELDER SCROLLS. In-game music for TES is more like Muzak (elevator music) to me so it wasn't as memorable except perhaps for the aggro music.

You're a genius! That music that plays while you go on a journey between quests should now be called "Elevator Music"

When I played the last beta event with my Dark Elf, I turned off the in-game music (it was the same as the AD music which was mildly disappointing) and exclusively listened to the Morrowind soundtrack. It fits with the EP much, much better than the ordinary music.

On their ESO Music Article they mention using fake sounds because of an unfinished sound track

The music is quite fine IMO (aside from the placeholder music), especially the main theme music that comes on during login screen/char select.

I have no idea what anyone is talking about around here anymore :/

The most beautiful Elder Scrolls song in my opinion is called: "Gathering Storm".

In fact, i find it so beautiful - that it brings a manly tear to my eye.

I prefered Skyrim's. Under The Ancient Sun was my favorite piece of music from all of the songs in TES so far. Oblivion's had some stellar pieces too but it's quantity really did strain it. Morrowind's, from what I have played, which is about 3 hours worth is sub par outside of the main theme when compared to the later releases, and I haven't really listened to TESO's in all honestly.

Could you imagine dying and hearing the theme from mario bros, when you died :D

I think that sounds alright to a lesser standard, just compare that to any of the oblivian soundtracks, which seem to have more oomph and quality to them, the gathering storm soundtrack is not necessarily bad, but when in comparison, just sounds like something i could hear at the local theater symphony.
