[REQ] Oblivion-style hoods

Post » Mon Jan 04, 2010 2:40 am

Comrades!

I am currently making a companion mod and require an oblivion-style hood to complement the character's appearance. If I was modding for Oblivion, I would be using a Mythic Dawn Hood. Perfect shape. Perfect color. It is of utmost importance the hood fits the Khajiit male heads.

I am, unfortunately, not yet able to model, so I cannot do this myself. My texturing skills are also quite limited.

Many thanks,

~PorridgeIsGood

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6203 has some hoods that are close to what you're looking for.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=575 also has a different style of hood that you might want to look at.

It has one or two, bu they're the same meshes that you can see in Dragon's post.

When I try equipping a hood from this mod, the program makes a short buzzing noise, then crashes to desktop. Anyone know what the problem may be? I cleaned the mod of GMSTs using Tesame ..

(sorry for hijacking the thread! I'm looking for hoods for my mage character and these would be nice ..)

That usually happens when a mod can't find a texture file. Are you sure you installed them all in the right place?

I checked again, I've put all the textures into the appropriate folder. The warning text file says:
TES3Stream Warning: Model "Meshes\hood\hooda.nif" tex not found "hoodblk.tga"!

I looked through the texture folder and found "hoodblk.tga". But there isn't a "hooda.nif", (in fact, there aren't any nifs at all), what is that?

The 'hooda.nif' file will be found inside the Meshes folder, not the Textures folder. I don't think that's the problem, though - it sounds like the texture may be in the wrong place. Try copying the 'hoodblk.tga' texture from the 'hood' subfolder into the main Data Files\Textures folder.

Ah! That worked for all but one hood (they all had the same crashing problem). I just copied the entire "hood" folder to the main textures folder. The tga of the hood that still doesn't work is there, so I'm not sure what's up, but all the others work now. I'll just not use the bugged one. Thanks for your help! :)

I'm kind of surprised this hasn't been noticed before, but the hood that the Ancestor Ghost wears is almost the perfect shape. You could easily separate it from the rest of the mesh and make it a helmet. Then it's just a matter of changing the texture...

EDIT: Ditto for the lich.
