[LIST] Oblivion Style Mods

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 1:21 am

I have been thinking of doing this for a while, but a recent thread spurred me into action

This is a list of mods that take the good parts of Oblivion, and recreate them in Morrowind as even though everyone loves to hate Oblivion, it did imlement some good ideas.

Any more?

Maybe those voice addons for important characters, like Dagoth Ur and Vivec.

Thanks for starting this list :)

My http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=795366were heavily inspired by Oblivion, bringing the speedtree idea as well as the density of Cyrodiil's swamps and forests to Morrowind's south-western regions.

Also, for Combat, some people might like http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=712712.

This is strange: I've just been working on a list of Oblivion mods which make that game feel more like Morrowind! :D

Is this still allowed? Bethesda isn't liking Morrowblivion, it's being discussed by their legal team right now and discussion of it in the forums is forbidden for now... I know this is different in so many ways, but could this be a violation of the EULA, looking at Bethesda's reaction on Morrowblivion?

 I don't really care that much. An awful lot of mods are in violation of the EULA.
If anyone feels really strongly, you can report it, and get a mod to remove the links.

End of discussion :) (So we don't have an entire thread debating the EULA)

Fliggerty's new mod: Fliggerty's Fleeing Fetchers------- http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6639
Seems interesting

I also like Blood and Gore ------- http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=797
even though some people say it causes crashes it find the stability acceptable on my machine.

I would also recommend the Blood and Gore patch ------ http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4194

Arcimaestro Antares Go to Jail Mod is also good ----- http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=136072&id=5409
Unfortinately it is not compatable with Pursuit Enhanced.

What about Connary's Retexture? Morrowind certaintly looks like Oblivion with that.

I know they're only Beta, but Vality's http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=850315 perfectly recreate just about the *only* thing I liked about Oblivion that I missed going back to MW.... the sense of exploring you get from not knowing what's hiding in the undergrowth or what's over the next grass covered hill. (Though I also like the bleakness of the Morrowind interior, too).

Also, no-one's mentioned Horatio's NPC Enhanced (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1095), which makes NPCs behave much more realistically & 'intelligently' in combat.

Also, I personally really like http://www.endhome.com/Morrowind/Morrowind%20title.htm, which adds some new forested areas around MW, using several different new tree meshes. I think it's quite an old mod, and maybe superseded by Vality's speed trees to some extent now, but I really like the effect of it & it's also quite Oblivion-y too I guess (http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm59/triffidfood/MWScreens18.jpg for example)

I'm going to work out a way so that all the dungeons (bandit caves & the like) with named NPCs will then have slightly levelled generic respawning replacements once the originals are killed.
It's a little complex, since it's all script controlled, and would only work on new games, since it'll need a dead body to work on.

It won't be part of Creatures, just a seperate mod.

That will replicate oblivion's repspawning dungeons.

Are you doing with the loot in the dungeons? I've been working on a way to have the loot containers randomly respawn after a few days.

Just the NPCs.

I think of it as the new "owners" haven't yet had time to establish their operations.

Easy enough to add new random spawning stock (PTE) in containers but not removing it.

I don't remember, do nearby npc's in Oblivion run away if you start a fight with someone else in town? If so, Fliggerty's new mod could be added to the list.

ENBSeries.

Somewhere here was a Vality's thread about it.

ENBSeries isn't an Oblivion style mod. It enhances the graphics of Morrowind with effects such as Depth of Field, Occlusion, Motion Blur - Oblivion has none of these. The only thing in common they share is the use of a Bloom effect, though MGE's bloom effects are probably closer to Oblivion's bloom.

I'd say the http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6270 probably fits here, since it's inspired by the Ayleid ruins from Oblivion, though it's actually supposed to be a Falmer ruin I think it still fits since it should have a bit of the feel of Oblivion. At least that's the impression I get from the screenshots, my level isn't high enough to actually try it yet.
