Needs to be a DDS/TGA like a texture should. JPEG will make your text ugly anyway.

Well, damn, SWG. You are the MAN. The only problem with this is that whereas Morrowind generates a map on the fly, this would be "stuck" like Oblivion's. That being said, I hope you decide to include Fort Firemoth and the mainland! <3

It won't generate a map "on the fly", I made the whole thing myself. Morrowind's Original map is nothing but height/land data generated into an image.

It *would* be possible to code a crazy version of the map which autogenerated, but you'd lose tons of features.

As to when it'll be done, I can't say. I don't have access to my compy.

Precisely what I was saying my good man, and I agree that for this mod it would be best to use a static texture, so that it will look as pretty as possible. :3

Looks amazing. IMO, I'm very attached to the colour maps that came with Morrowind - 7 years on and they're still on my wall! I would LOVE to be able to see them ingame as the colour version, but I know both Vvardenfell and Solstheim are too crazily detailed for that to ever happen (_every_ fricking tree!) but an actual map rather than the landmap would greatly help my role-playing, as I tend to do a lot more of it in Morrowind than in Oblivion. Very impressive so far. Are you planning to put some of the major ruins/shrines titled as well?

I just feel bad for the guy that had to draw the Great Scathes (Suran-Erabenimsun) desert region on the paper map image before they took it out of the game - you can still see it on the original Morrowind release packaging.

I never cared for Oblivion's map simply due to its general lack of detail - I actually kind of like the olden parchment look, but aside from the wayward rock outcropping or a road, there was relatively little of interest to look at. From the stuff you've got going on around Vivec though, this is coming along quite nicely. Don't abandon this one!

Are you still working on this mod, SWG? Or you still have no access to your computer?

Sorry to necro this, but was this ever finished?

I love the style, and coming from Oblivion to Morrowind, I'd like a familiar style map to look at.

That would be cool if you could make it like the map that came with the game...and have the unique icons for each dungeon/castle/town/camp show up when you discover them.

SWG has stated that he plans on finishing this, but not until he gets full access to the computer in which the files are stored.
Until then, we wait.

Yes, he should be back with us soon by all indications from him. Though soon has dragged on for longer than I had thought it would.

What have you thought about doing for Solstheim?
It would be nice if the glacier area (and maybe the forest) had a bit more definition on the map.

It looks amazing to me! May I ask, where are you getting the terrain detail? Createmaps?

My only suggestion would be to leave the area inside the Ghostfence relatively detail-free, as if the place is so dangerous that no one would dare attempt to go there and map it out. Gives it a little mystery.

You've guessed correct! The detailing is an edited version of one of the un-annotated createmaps at wolfie's den. As for the Ghostfence interior, I'll see what I can do, it's a good idea, I always did like the mysery of the Red Mountain region.
