[RELz] Oblivion XP

This is the mod I was using. I was using it before v4.1.3 without problems too, but it seems like it is causing problems now.

I have come across something interesting. I was having the problem with XP gains not showing up in the window, and have had that problem for a while. I started having problems with keys disappearing, which i'm pretty sure was caused by another mod. I was using keychain mod, so I disabled that hoping to fix the key problem. When I played next, after disabling the keychain mod, I was getting all the XP messages popping up fine. I have no idea why a keychain mod was interfering with the display messages, but that is the only change that I have made. Maybe that could help you fix the problem in some way. I am wondering if the other people having the same problem were also using the keychain mod.

That is definitely interesting information- which keychain/version mod exactly did you use?

Let me guess. Because he might want to constantly improve/expand his mod? He might want his work to be perfect. I see he puts heart into ObXP so tell me why shouldnt he implement this? Who said that skillbooks needs to be exactly like vanilla? It can be better and if someone can implement this, its SF. I really dont get it why some people are dumb enough to try to stop/slow mods authors from further developping, improving and perfecting their work.

Now now, please keep things civil, calling each other dumb is no argument - the best way to show the merit of your thoughts is by explaining them further.

That said, I am always looking to give people more options, even if it's only one or two people requesting it. By bringing ideas together, and discussing possibilities and opportunities for improvement, Oblivion XP has come very far indeed since it's original inception. It's not the number of people requesting a feature that counts for everything (although of course it is very important), rather the idea and originality of a request is what interests me more than anything else. And there's certainly no lack of that on these forums.

Anyhow, as I said before, I'll surely investigate this in the future - even if it's not something everyone wants, it's a good option to have.

This is the mod I was using. I was using it before v4.1.3 without problems too, but it seems like it is causing problems now.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that as soon as possible.

If Oblivion crashed before getting to the main menu, it means 1) a .esm file is missing or 2) your UI is not installed properly. In this case, it's most likely your UI. So please check that you installed your UI properly before installing Oblivion XP - best is to reinstall DarN / DarkUI'd DarN first, then install Oblivion XP, both from OMOD. Then this won't happen again :)

Also, as Suzie Q noted, you don't seem to have Oblivion XP.esp on that list, another pointer to a faulty installation?

Oh actually I deactivated Oblivion XP before copying that mod list.

Alright thanks for the help. I didn't realise that I needed to keep DarnUI activated before installing oblivion xp + darnui :)

One more thing: I've loaded my existing save game and its given me about 150 attribute points and 450 skill points for my level 12 character. Is this normal?

Yep: 13 attribute points per level, (36 +5 +skill books) skill points per level, so 11 * 13 = 143 AtP, 11 * 41 = 451 SkP.

Function must be used within a Set statement
Error in script e600fdda
Operator := failed to evaluate to a valid result
Error in script e600fdda
An expression failed to evaluate to a valid result

I have the most updated version of Oblivion and Shivering Isles. I am on a windows xp machine. I am using OBSE 17 (whatever the last stable install for version 17 is).

That's an OBSE v18 error message if I'm not mistaken - you must have OBSE v18 BETA installed. Make sure you upgrade to the latest OBSE v18 BETA (b3), and download the Oblivion XP v4.1.5 for OBSE v18 file. If it still happens after doing this, please let me know :)

The above in that quote has been haunting you since 4.0.1 ~_~. Makes me think something in the game breaks the mod or OBSE or something.

I would hope that's not the buggy version that comes with OOO. It causes CTDs.

Ok thanks for the help :) If I understand correctly, this mod means that I no longer will have to repeatedly cast spells/hit things/make potions etc etc in order to efficiently level up right? :foodndrink:

There is one thing that I don't understand. That is, how are skill/attribute points gained? Is it simply a fixed amount every time you gain a level?

Finally, is anyone else running this mod with FCOM? :) How is it?

@Terra: I have already solved the problem. That Harvest version was downloaded today though. The esm says 3.0.0 but the omod says 3.0.1

With Oblivion XP, the game becomes like Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights: you don't get any stronger until you raise your level. Once you get enough XP, you level up, and once you level up you get Skill & Attribute Points - these you can then distribute whatever way you see fit. No need to ever use magic again if you don't want to, you won't become less strong and you won't level any slower :)

The mod if designed with FCOM in mind - they work perfectly together. In fact, in my opinion only when used with FCOM does Oblivion XP show its true potential :)

Ok you have the good working version then.

FCOM works well with ObXP. Put it like this, if you can pull off killing something 10 levels higher than you(pretty easy to run into them with a new character if you're too curious..) you're gonna get *alot* of xp. ;p

Strange, it's the ObXPKillingScript that seems to be the culprit. Can you give me any additional info? Does this keep happening whenever you load a savegame?

Ahhh thank you. I feel like my Oblivion experience will now be truely complete :D

I had mods for almost every aspect of the game, but the way you had to level up always subsconsciously bugged me. Thank god today I randomly clicked this thread "Oblivion XP" which I thought would be an Oblivion on Windows XP troubleshooting thread :D

There WAS a conflict, but it was fixed in SM 89b to allow skill progression to work with ObXP.

That may have been the problem, I did not have version b installed. I have it installed now, and played for just a few minutes, and did not get the error. I will be able to test it better tomorrow. I'm gone for the night now. Thank you for all the help. :D

I was able to figure out why the Oblivion XP DLC quest scripts were not working (I think). In Oblivion XP 4.1.5 (not sure about other versions) there is a script to handle the DLC quests, ObXPQuestsDLCScript, but there is no quest associated with that script to run it. I edited the Oblivion XP.esp to add a quest for it and I was then able to gain XP for completing a DLC quest.

Alright, I just uploaded an http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15619 to the Nexus. Do NOT use this with OBSE version prior to this!

This should get rid of any console spam / errors people were having when using OBSE v18 BETA.

Thanks :)

I upgraded from current 4.1.5 to this OBSE V0018b3 version.

Just replacing the Oblivion XP (Uninstall then reinstall without clean save.) --> seems fine.

Make clean save and then install new OBSE 0018 version ---> something happen when game loaded.

Thanks :)

I upgraded from current 4.1.5 to this OBSE V0018b3 version.

Just replacing the Oblivion XP (Uninstall then reinstall without clean save.) --> seems fine.

Make clean save and then install new OBSE 0018 version ---> something happen when game loaded.

nvm. I should delete .pluggy file also. After deleting the .pluggy file, seems fine. I don't have any issue with OBSE V0018 beta 3.

Hm, seriously? That's a rather silly omission on my part...I separated some of the Quest scripts, and must've forgotten to assign that script. I'll fix it as soon as I get home tonight. Thanks for taking the time to figure it out!
