Oblivion on PC

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 8:44 pm

Ok so I've played Oblivion on the Xbox 360, and I really want to play again so I was thinking about buying it for the PC, specifically a laptop. First of all I was wondering if I can play without a mouse? I'd pick one up if need be but I'd rather not if possible. Secondly is it worth paying the $25 for the Shivering Isles, NoN, and the other smaller DLC's, or should I pay $20 not getting the smaller DLC's? Thanks for the input.

  • You can play Oblivion on PC with a game controller, although a keyboard and mouse fares better
  • Personally, a laptop's trackpad is highly not recommended, as it will be very uncomfortable with PC version's controls, but you might want to try it yourself
  • Shivering Isles is one great expansion, worthy of at least $3
  • Knights of The Nine has a great quest in it, quite a good DLC
  • Mehrunes Razor is a pretty lengthy quest, and even more if you count the long trip to its dungeon
  • Vile Lair and Thieves Den are good DLCs for antagonist players
  • Personally, Orrery, Horse Armor, and Spell Tomes are not worthy of installation, but if it's in one package, might as well use them. Custom horse armors can at least make it better

Also, depending on your laptop's specs you may not be able to experience Oblivion at its best (that is, maxed settings). In the worst case it might look worse than in XBOX 360. But at least there are mods to compensate for that.

Do you already have this laptop? You might want to check in the Hardware forum here, to make sure it's adequate to run Oblivion, before spending your money.

Oblivion does not like the Intel graphics, for instance.

Hmm... I am a 360 Oblivion player, and went to PC when I finally got a laptop that could play it. Funny I paid $20 for Oblivion which came with Shivering Isle and Knights of the Nine included. I guess you just got an older copy that didn't have them included.

I loved all the DLC, well except for Horse armour. I like all the other ones. Since you don't already have SI, I would look for the GotY Oblivion that has Oblivon and SI and KotN included, again no more than $20.00, well if you are living in Canada that is. I can't speak for other countries that is.

Even if you can't find it, and need to pay $25 seperately, yes, it is worth it. Maybe not right away when you play, but when you are around level 15 or 20, yes it is worth.

I actually do not have the graphics card to run it which I'm not too thrilled about. Ah I was really looking forward to playing...damn.
