Yeah, I noticed that too. I remember people whining about Morrowind in comparison to Daggerfall, and then people with Oblivion to Morrowind - it kinda baffles me because I found Morrowind and Oblivion to each have their pros and cons, as I've found with Skyrim. However, I'd definitely say Skyrim is better than Oblivion, and I've only played a little bit of it so far. Morrowind I'm not too sure, that game has a lot going for it.
My favourite, however, were people that complained about Morrowind for ridiculous reasons. There was a poster once who said he was outraged by the fact you couldn't be a werewolf in Morrowind, and refused to buy it until Bloodmoon was released. One of the devs did come on at this point (I can't remember his name, but he posted quite a bit. I think he was a developer.) and spoke to the guy about how ridiculous he was. I miss that guy.
But people will always complain. I personally play vanilla most of the time, I hardly ever see mods that really appeal to me - although I did download a couple of new armours for Oblivion. I think perhaps some if it comes from the modding? Some people mod their games A LOT and kind of take for granted the benefits given, forgetting they weren't in the original game, so now they have something finally tuned by lots of of plug-ins to make it as close to perfect as they can, and then grab the new game and go back to vanilla, resulting in them missing aspects that, while not necessarily originally released with it, they have associated with the previous game.
