So Ive decided to do the thieves guild questline. so far for stealing to make the quota i cleaned out stuff laying around in the shops of slash and smash, mystic emporium, and that blades shop that the npc inside trains armor repair.

Ive tried pickpocketing shop owners while they were asleep even with sneak and a 100% chameleon suit they still cry pickpocket every time i steal even one goldpeice from them?

so ive heard of people stealing from item caches that respawn?

where and what do you people steal? do you know of any good places where the goods respawn in 3 days?

Ive noticed the stuff laying on counters of stores never respawns.
\

also is there a way to steal from the shops inventory? is this even possible cause they cry pickpocket every time you try to steal from them no matter what?

I go into people's houses at night and clean them out while the occupants are asleep. As for what do I steal...anything that isn't nailed down. :D

The wisdom of stealing from shops is questionable (from a roleplaying standpoint), they will just raise their prices and buy for less.

Stealing from dirt poor peasents who have not much isn't that great either.

Steal from castles.

how do you go about stealing from castles, and what do you steal from them?
I never tried outside theeives guild special missions, because I'm afraid the guards will have that 360 degree thousand mile extra sensory perception ive seen in the game before.

Angel doesn't pickpocket but she is endlessly curious about what people are carrying. She has an outfit with 120% chameleon and she is a master of Sneak. On her first Thieves Guild mission, she couldn't resist peaking into the pockets of sleeping Imperial Guards. Her Chameleon was at or near 200% and she was sneaking. No problem. She was almost out of the Guard tower when her chameleon potion wore off. I tried to stop her but she just had to peak into one more pocket. BUSTED :)

She just resisted arrest, went invisible and used her TG contact to bribe her bounty.

My Cat Burglar (literally ;)) steals at night from upper class houses, silverware, jewelry, beverages, potions, and spell scrolls mostly, they have nice weigth to price ratio. Usually doesn't bother with pickpocketing, except few times when she lifted a complete chainmail amrmor set froma sleeping Cheydinhal soldier, and the archmages robe :lmao: However, i believe if you are pickpocketing weightless items, such as keys or gold, there is no risk getting caught. Or wast it in Fallout 3?

Steal right from the grand Imperial Legion chief himself in the IC Prison district. Once you enter the doors coming from the IC Market District, the IC Commander's office is the last door on the left. He has a boss chest right beside his desk, that respawns every 3 days. The first time looting it might only have junk. Just clean it out the first time and then come back a few days later after it respawns, it can spawn top armor and weapons relative to your level. Plus a decent sum of money for your level.

Edit: Be warned though, if you enter the office at the wrong time of day, a guard having a meal will easily spot you since there is a guard barracks right upstairs from the Legion Commander's office.

so what would be a good time to sneak in, so guards are not eating? 11:00pm to 12:00am?

also, so i heard enchanting stolen weapons and armors takes the red theft flag off, is this correct?

1) I find between 2AM-4AM seems to work best. Most/ all guards will be sleeping or out patrolling on duty.
2) Yes, if you have access to an enchanting alter and a trapped soul or a sigil stone, enchanting an item will remove the red hand and the item will be yours. :)

Respawning caches: you're best off looking for counters; the stuff on top won't respawn, but the stuff inside will.

- Counters in Mages' Guilds contain alchemy apparati that respawn; typically, you're looking at anything between 120-300 gold's worth of goods per guild hall.
- Counters in castles contain silverware and jewelry. About 40-50 gold's worth of goods at lower levels, gets higher later as better jewelry.
- There are counters in Red Diamond Jewelry in the Imperial City Market District; these contain leveled jewelry. Again, plenty of gold there.

A decent strategy is to start off by pick pocketing the keys from wealthy people and merchants, than just go into their shop at night and just take stuff. Although, you might have to try a few times.

I prefer to steal luxury items, such as silverware and jewelry. svcks for their owner, but shouldn't cause any real damage :)

Remeber the Thieves Guild's rules, no stealing from poor people :stare:

In a vanilla oblivion churches and mages guilds are best imo, in a modded game just about anywhere will give you good takings.
Picking pockets allways take from behind, even on sleeping marks, and check no one else can draw sight too you.
Otherwise your chance drops ( or at least I find it does for me ).

Oh and food use it to make potions for free. Gets rid of evidence and ups the price of your haul ( with a fair alchemy / intelligence ), and lowers your weight.

you dont need to enchant something if its either a weapon or something you can wear, and if you have 2 of it.
then you can use a glitch to remove the stolen tag.

Go to Bruma and sneak into the smith's shop. His stuff respawns with various scrolls, arrows and armor. Also he always has a certain number of bear pelts and hammers. this is good for easy money for the thieves guild quests. And you can sell right to the tired guy who is also a fence in Bruma.
