If the community would like to submit their own creations (wallpaper, icons, cursors, sounds), send them to me and I will create a community-themed pack based on user mods.

If wallpaper is submitted, please send at least send a size in 1024x768 (sizes in 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 would also be nice but not necessary if you cannot capture in that high of resolution)

If the community submissions start rolling in, I will keep a log of what items are left that need to be filled in before release.

If content is submitted that displays / uses work that is not of your own, please give me the proper credit lines I can use in the readme / description.

Also note that if there are more than one submissions for a particular slot (like a replacement for the Computer icon), I will pick which goes is added to the pack based on quality and how it matches with the theme.

Yes, I know, there are a lot of "if"s.

Thanks,
LHammonds

Um...

Seems like a really nice idea, but, well, don't most people these days have widescreen monitors?

Everyone I know who has a PC does, but of course, YMMV. Anyway, maybe something to address at some stage. If not, at least those still using 4:3 will be OK with these. :)

A widescreen format would welcome but the entire collection would need to be in one screen size or the other. If 4:3 is all I get, it can fit on a widescreen monitor but not really the other way round (nicely).

So I'd think the 4:3 would be the primary preferred format but like you mention, it sure would be nice to have a widescreen version...however, that means those creating the wallpaper really need to have the widescreen monitors and video cards that can support high resolutions in those dimensions...or they could get creative and combine multiple images to reach the desired widescreen format. ;-)

So, "if" there are community-based submissions, I would venture to guess that the 1st ones to submit the most images would dominate what size (dimensions) the themepack would be geared for.

NOTE: If a very high-res image is submitted for standard and one for widescreen formats, I could do the re-sizing work to get them in smaller packages...Example: If all images submitted were 1600x1200, I could re-size it to make 1280x1024 and 1024x768 versions.

It might also be worthwhile to point out that there is no pressure on anyone to crank out a set of anything. If you can submit a single cursor, that would be fine...but obviously, it would look a lot better if there were a common theme for a set (e.g. would look odd for a cursor to be a sword but a similar cursor look like a treasure chest (instead of the same sword with a modification made to fit the scenario). Now that I think about it...a rotating steel sword would be an excellent default cursor. I wonder if I can export the simple animation from Blender into a format that a cursor can be made...hhmmm....

**scampers off to do some reading up on cursor creation**

I need a student site like that. I am going to pay at least $140 for the Professional edition... I do not get bored with my backgrounds, I just like changing them, haha. I have them all saved in an organized set of folders. I cycle through them and add new images completely randomly... The time of day or whatever I am doing may influence the choice. Sometimes I just pick whichever one is "coolest" (given my mood.)

Edit: Trying to change them regularly, everyday, is probably slightly OCD on my part, but I have weirder OCD-ish habits, as far as I'm concerned...

The upgrade selling for that kind of money sounds more reasonable, or is that not what you bought? I think I will keep that site in mind though because I do have a few computers that could use an upgrade...

I do not feel like looking up the exact rate, but I know that it amounts to less than a lot of other options. :)

The wallpaper in these packs are designed to change every 10 minutes.

As for Vista, I don't have it at work or home so I am not exactly the right person to create anything for Vista...but you could still download this pack, rename the extension to ZIP and extract everything out of it for your PC.

Wait a second...have you tried double-clicking one of these ".ThemePack" files in Vista? It might possibly work...with the exception of a few Win7-specific features (I think the auto-changing background is a Win7 thingy)
