[RELz] Oblivion XP Update

Yes I did install Ob XP by creating an omod with OBMM. I wasn't sure what ini you meant so I put 2. And thanks for spending all this time helping me fix this issue. The levelercheat.esp just added a shack with stuff to raise my attributes and skills and get equipment and spawn monsters. I doubt it's the problem cause I've had this issue before i got it.

Yes I did install Ob XP by creating an omod with OBMM. I wasn't sure what ini you meant so I put 2. And thanks for spending all this time helping me fix this issue. The levelercheat.esp just added a shack with stuff to raise my attributes and skills and get equipment and spawn monsters. I doubt it's the problem cause I've had this issue before i got it.

Well I wouldn't run Ob XP with your levelercheat plugin. I don't know what that is doing and it could be a contributing factor. If you want more skill and attribute points Ob XP can do that for you - just change the first two settings in the ini file. You are going to level really quickly with the settings you have. That might be good for the early game, but you might find it gets boring pretty quickly :) Anyway if you have ever used efficient levelling, then you would normally be raising your skills 10 times to get the +5 attribute modifier for one attribute. If you go with the default of 13 points to spend on attributes, then you are looking at at least 26 skill increases. Since each skill increase costs between 2 and 4 points with Ob XP, then that means that you want the number of skill points available to be between 52 and 104. I went with the "jack-of-all-trades" setting, which I see you have as well, so I set the number of skill points available to 105 per level (to give myself a few more skills points than what would be required to increase my attributes by +5). I also slowed down my rate of levelling by changing the quadratic slope, but that is just a matter of preference.

Have you used BOSS now? I'm not familiar with many of those mods, so I don't know if that load order is correct or not. I would also recommend getting Wrye Bash and creating a bash patch. A bash patch allows you to import settings from various mods so that they will work together. You have a lot of game altering mods loaded and they may not play well together without a bash patch. See the Wrye Bash thread in this forum for information and download links.

Try those things and if you are still having problems then I think you are going to have to start disabling mods and going through and re-enabling a few at a time until you find the culprit. I don't know enough about the mods you are running to make any recommendations. If you don't want to do that, then I guess you'll have to forfeit Oblivion XP and try another levelling mod. I know people are running Ob XP with MMM and Midas Magic, so I think those are fine. DR 6 is pretty new so it could be a problem, but I'm pretty sure there are DR 6 users running Ob XP just fine. As I said previously I know Klaus is running Ob XP, but I don't know if he's had a lot of time to actually play the game lately :) I would start with disabling all character altering mods or mods that alter game settings. You need to be careful of less known mods because there are some bad ones out there that can really screw up your game, whether you're running something like Oblivion XP or not. Unfortunately it takes a fair amount of experience to track down "bad" mods. You need to be pretty comfortable with the CS or the various editing tools out there for one thing...

Levelercheat is from Willie's Shack. It's by WillieSea and I don't think it would conflict with this mod. It is useful for leveling up when you are using vanilla or mods like nGCD, KCAS and the like. You do have the ability to summon npcs to fight, but I don't think that would conflict either.

This is a really useful mod for people who do a lot of mod testing and need to level up new characters fast. The shack is in the same place as DR's classed beginnings so those two would conflict with each other.

It allows people to level up their skills which wouldn't affect this mod at all since you don't base levelling on skill ups.

Ah, it would DEFINITELY conflict then! Oblivion XP must have complete control over character levelling. I suspect levelercheat is using the same commands that Oblivion XP is using and they are grabbing control from each other. A nice little tug-of-war.

@xKaorux: Please remove levelercheat and do another clean save without levelercheat and Oblivion XP. Then reload Oblivion XP and see if that helps. I know you said you had the problem without levelercheat, so it's still possible there is another mod in your load list that's causing problems. Unless somebody else comes forward with more info, I think you are still going to have to go through and start deactivating mods.

Hmmm, well there aren't really any more quests covered in this version than in the previous one :( I have set up the "Friends of Oblivion XP" club that lists mods that have Ob XP support included, and there have been a couple of recent joinees :) I also created a patch for A Brotherhood Renewed. The patch is unique in that it will reward points for completed quests even if you load it after completing the quests! I set it up that way on purpose :)

Could you give me the names of the mods you're not getting XP for? I do have a list and I will be asking the author to add Ob XP support or I will create a patch. I've been promised new Wrye Bash tags that will allow people to import these patches, but with the recent WB problems, that has fallen off the radar a bit. Hopefully I'll get those tags soon.

It's been awhile but i think some had to deal with FCOM. I'll have to look at my loaded mods and see if i can figure out what ones.

Ok, because I was only aware of the ones in OOO, which are supported already. I didn't think any of the other components had quests, but I've only run Fran's years ago, so I can't say for sure...

I also just read the posts about the levelerscheat.esp and will disable that now since from what you say it conflicts with it (I mainly used it for the gold ruby armor and weapons :P) and since Ob XP is stable once more therefore rendering the other mod useless to me. If it still breaks later I'll try manually disabling mods one by one and post whichever mods I found that caused a conflict to occur.

Ok, well that's encouraging. Please let me know if you find the culprit (if there are any more problems) because I might be able to help someone else if it crops up again :) Bash does help with a lot of mod conflicts, although I must admit, I've never heard of one like the problem you were having. The other case involved a custom mod and a menu change or spell effect - it wasn't clear, but the person fixed it by reinstalling, clean save and all that.

Judging by the description, I would say not. I took a quick look at the readme and it won't even work with custom classes, so I can't imagine that it would like Oblivion XP :) Oblivion XP needs complete control over the character level, the skills and attributes. It's like a three year old child - no sharing :)

But if you're feeling adventurous, install WM first, get it working and then try installing and loading Oblivion XP... I imagine it would get rather confused once you morph to another character though. I do wonder how he implemented this...

I was thinking of trying it out wit wm it would be interesting but so far im using wrye leveling but I wish I could gain more than 20 skills a level thats the highest it can be customized

Yeah, Oblivion XP is completely different. With Oblivion XP, you can decide how many points you can increase your skills per level - you define that in the ini. But other than that, there's no limit per skill. In the next release, I will be adding some options to limit the amount you can increase a skill, but it will remain configurable for those players who don't want the limits. Well actually I guess there is a limit - it would be 32767 :)

i seem to Be Crashing when i load a save (after oblivion was shut down) With oblivion XP


The second the Ding *Oblivion Xp Initialize sound goes on i crash :/

I would use BOSS on that load order. I definitely wouldn't put Oblivion XP after your Bash patch. I would also rebuild your Bash patch. I'd also upgrade your Oblivion XP - there are a number of bug fixes in the new version. I'd go with 4.1.7a. Lastly, make sure you're running OBSE 19b - the first release of OBSE 19 had a bug that could screw up some mods.

If u had the time and after ur done everything else for this mod would u consider making it compatible with wrye morph I would help test lol put it on ur last to do list

Stage 2: I did something to fix the problem, I no longer know what I actually did. Then it works perfectly, barring some persistent bugs you fixed in this release apparently :) .

Stage 3: My Oblivion dies in an unrelated accident.

Stage 4: Same problem from Stage 1 occurs as I begin to reinstall everything. What do I do to make ObXp initialize again? How did I do it before?

My Current post-apocalypse load order:

Oblivion.esm
DLCShiveringIsles.esp
Oblivion XP.esp

And for what it's worth, I'm running OBSE 19.3

This sounds like an installation issue. You have to use http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097 to install this mod. Create an omod per the installation instructions and then double-click on the omod to install it. A script will run that asks you which UI you are using. If you only have the base game plus Shivering Isles, then you would pick Vanilla/BTmod for the UI.

Here's an excellent http://www.tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=omod_installation with a lot of useful information. In particular, I linked to the page that explains how to install mods. Follow the instructions mid-way down the page that's titled "OMOD Ready".

I would really suggest you install the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1136566-relz-unofficial-oblivion-patch-320-unofficial-patch-supplementals/. These have a lot of bug fixes for the basic game and don't significantly alter the base game. Lastly, I'm not quite sure about that version of http://obse.silverlock.org/. I'm pretty sure it's ok, but I'd suggest you grab the latest version which fixes a bug that was in the original version of the final release.

Also, please upgrade to 4.1.7a if you aren't running it already. If you are still having problems, please post again.

Hey, I've been getting some bugs with this mod. I've recently just reinstalled Oblivion (with a ton of mods, this included). I've got Alternate Start Arrive by Ship installed, and everything works fine if I load a game to inside the ship. Once I load a saved game in the main game world, Oblivion XP starts giving me unlimited experience. I've got a couple of screenshots of the console and some Oblivion XP messages (screenshots are quite large):

Like I said, I have a LOT of mods installed - I've sorted them with BOSS, I installed Oblivion XP 4.1.7a with OBMM, and I rebuilt the bashed patch in Wrye Bash. In these screenshots there is only 1 "quest" I've completed - it's just simply named "Tutorial" and mentions having less fatigue and being weaker and such - all I did to complete it was leave the ship. If I walk around a while, the message saying "Now Initializing Oblivion XP ---" pops up every now and then.

It looks like you've been bitten by the OBSE ver 19 bug. Try upgrading to the latest version of OBSE 19 (it's called 19b now). If you are running Display Stats or Quest Log Manager, you will have to deactivate those mods and do a clean save without them. The link to OBSE 19 is in my previous post, just above yours.

I've got the latest OBSE, and I'm not running either of those mods you mentioned. Any other ideas?

Which version is reported at the top of the obse.log file? It really looks like the OBSE bug - all the invalid array access messages are caused by that bug. The bug screws up other mods in the list - not the source of the trouble! Those messages are not bugs in Oblivion XP - clearly it would be completely non-functional if it had that many errors :D
