[RELz] Oblivion XP Update - Thread 2

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 3:45 pm

It doesn't work actually ... seems I didn't unistalled it correctly
I get the message on the top screen Oblivion XP is running (or something like this) and on the gold rectangle I can see that I'm running version 4.18

WAIT : what is the old version ? mine or thatone I'm looking for with the experience X/Y ?

The easiest way to tell which version you are running is to look at the top of the ini file. It should be in Data\Ini. I update the version number at the top of the file. The latest version is 4.1.8.

It does sound like you haven't installed it correctly. How did you install it? It's really important to use BAIN or OBMM to install this because Oblivion XP has to install its own version of the menus. Also, if you are using a different UI, like Darnified, you must install that first, then install Oblivion XP. If you use OBMM, there's an installation script which will ask which UI you are using. Currently that's the recommended installation method. I will create a BAIN wizard to make it easier to install with BAIN, but that won't be until the next release.

Ok I've Darnified Dark UI, and I have installed it before XP, I've selected it on the list the Darnified version : I'm sure I have the last version and it works really well but I can't understand why I cannot see the bar on the HUD that show me the experience I have:
I have for example 400 exp and I need 1500 to gain the next level...In some pictures I saw that you can enable the last rectangle wich gives you 400 / 1500 exp ... I say again I'm sure that it works : when I kill the enemy I see You gained X exp points for killing (Z)
so the coloured Red-Orange-Yellow-Green bar is visible, also the rectangle
You should tell me how to unistall all correctly and reinstall darnified and oblivion xp

I'm not sure what you mean. http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab118/AndalayBay/Oblivion/OblivionXPHUD.jpg. I'm running DarkUId DarN too. In that screenshot, the Experience is orange because my character has some rested XP. It would normally be yellow.

Can you post a screenshot?

Oh, now I see what you mean. That doesn't exist. :) That was from an earlier version and SirFrederik removed it in favour of the collapsible log. Now to see exactly what your progress is, press F1 to open the character stats menu.

Look at the screenshots from the download page for the new version to see what the screens really look like. :)

I'm working on the next update and I just wanted to http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab118/AndalayBay/Oblivion/NewHUD.jpg This is the vanilla or BTmod version, but there will be a version for Darnified and DarkUId DarN as well.

I have re-enabled the text display that cancan69 was asking about! :) This will be a configurable option in the ini and it will default to off (or not displayed). The text display is turned on in that screenshot.

Great stuff. I like the new HUD - more sleek, which I guess is what DarN is all about in the first place.

I wouldn't use the text option though, but then, that's the nice thing about options. :)

That wasn't even DarN! That was vanilla :) I don't think there would be many players who would want the text, but it was already defined in the xml, so I tweaked it a bit and it will be an option for those that want it.

Oh, I know. Sorry, was being as clear as mud.

I meant, I'd be using it with DarN (the DarkUId version) and I think it will match perfectly. I mean, it'll look even better (for my tastes). :)

Ah, gotcha! Well considering how badly the progress bar stuck out with vanilla, it will be even better with DarN! I think that has been the no. 1 request from people: fix the HUD!!

The new version will also have the limits on how many points you can spend on skills and skills will cost more to increase, starting with Jouneyman level. This will be configurable in the ini as well.

Ok, got Darnified done now.

http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab118/AndalayBay/Oblivion/NewHUDDarnifiednoText.jpg (the default)
http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab118/AndalayBay/Oblivion/NewHUDDarnifiedwithText.jpg (an ini option)

In those screenshots, my PC has some rested XP, so the bar is orange. It will be yellow under normal circumstances and green when it's time to level, as it is now.

A big "thank you" goes to TheNiceOne for his help in sorting out all the lovely details of Oblivion XML and Darnified in particular! :D

It looks good! I personally like without text. Anyway it looks very integrated with the UI now and I am excited for the update to come! :D I will totally start a new game for it too.

Hey, I'm having some trouble with crashing.

I can't really pinpoint why it happens, I only know it happens in outside cells (so far), and it started after I installed 4.1.8 after uninstalling 4.1.5. There's rarely anything happening during this, I'm just walking and suddenly crash. One time it crashed when I loaded a game that happened to be in the same cell.

Here are all the mods I have active, in order. Perhaps one of these is the problem?

Francesco's Levelled Creatures-Items Mod.esm
Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp
DLCShivering Isles.esp
Unofficial Shiver Isles Patch.esp
DLCHorseArmor.esp
DLCHorseArmor - Unofficial Patch.esp
DLCOrrery.esp

Francesco's Optional Files.esp (Language: English; Chance of More Enemieshardcoe: No; More Wilderness Life hardcoe: No; SI: Yes) (Where SI stands for Shivering Isles)
Priests of Akatosh -Ver1.3-.esp
DLCBattlehornCastle.esp
DLCBattlehornCastle - Unofficial Patch.esp
DLCFrostcrag.esp
DLCFrostcrag - Unofficial Patch.esp
Knights.esp

Telekinetic Mastery.esp
Supreme Magicka.esp (magicka regen rate has been set to match Oblivion XP's)
MidasSpells.esp
AR's Hand to Hand - 30.esp
Deadly Reflex 6 - Timed Block with no damage or durability changes.esp
DRSplatter.esp

Welcome to the forums!! Have a http://www.uesp.net/w/images/images.new/c/c4/Fishystick.jpg. :)

Are you running the latest http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1164539-relz-unofficial-oblivion-patch-320-unofficial-patch-supplementals/? I ask because Arthmoor did a lot of work to stop CTD's while running around outside. There are a couple of areas in particular that are prone to crashes. Also if you are running the latest UOP supplementals, you won't need the ThievesDen - Unofficial Patch - SSSB anymore and you actually have to remove that one or the area where the vendor shows up won't be accessible.

Also, when you upgraded to 4.1.8, did you follow the upgrade instructions in the readme? This is the downloaded version. There have been a number of changes to the ini file, so the upgrade instructions need to be followed exactly.

For Supreme Magicka, I suggest you turn off Oblivion XP's magicka regeneration if you're using SM's. That's what I do myself.

You also might consider installing Wrye Bash and creating a Bash patch. You don't have too many mods loaded, but a Bash patch will help ensure that all your mods coexist better. I'm not sure if you can run DR6 without a bash patch - it would be better to ask on the DR 6 thread about that.

Lastly, the only other thing I see that could be a problem is Francesco's increased spawns, which it appears you have loaded. I have seen a lot of instances where people have trouble when that feature is activated and you might consider removing it. Some of the spawns have some odd spell effects associated with them and I've read posts from people that say they start to experience crashes as they approach an area where one of these creatures is. There's actually a really detailed post http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1140643-please-help-me-not-again-a-100-reproducable-ctd-with-a-fresh-install/ in which Skycaptain determined that it was a specific creature that was causing his crashes.

I think it's just coincidence that you started to experience crashes after upgrading to 4.1.8, as long as you upgraded properly. I have actually reduced the scan area in 4.1.6 and onwards, so you should get better performance and experience fewer crashes. Oblivion XP has an array that it uses to track all the creatures and NPC's in the area around your character. By reducing the scan area, that array is smaller.

It looks like you've used BOSS on your load order - if not, I strongly suggest you do.

If you're still having trouble after trying some of these things, let me know and we'll see if there's anything I can do.

I clicked deactivate on 4.1.5 in OMM (and checked, it seemed to remove everything) and then used OMM to install 4.1.8

I didn't know that about the Supplements. I'll try that.

And I DON'T have Francesco's increased spawns active, actually. Not only is it set to off in that one thing, I've only got the Fran mod active where it concerns flat-out level changing. I activated it for SI because I plan to play SI eventually, and I'd like to have it be static leveled rather than based off of my level. Yes, Fran's mods have caused crashes, but I removed the specific ones that did.

Also, how do I turn off the Oblivion XP magicka regen thing? I only see options to change the value, not to fully disable it.

Nothing in DR 6's description says I needed Wrye Bash - I'd like to avoid installing ADDITIONAL things if necessary.

I'll try the UOP thing - it's just that I've started crashing in areas where I've been able to play for hours without crashing. If I'm still crashing, I'll post here again, or edit my post, or something. I will say the crashing is not consistent. Upon reload, I can move around just fine.

And yay, fish sticks!

By the way, turning the companion thing off DOES make it so that conjurers get the full XP when their summon kills something rather than half - I don't consider half to be a "insignificant amount". But aside from that, it does work like that, so that's awesome.

EDIT: And yes, I use BOSS, helps with a lot of issues I had before.

Sorry, I realize now I misread your comment next to the Fran's optional files. DR 6 on its own may not need WB, but I thought in combination with Fran's, it may not be a bad idea. I guess a Bash patch is one extra thing, but it takes various changes that each mod makes and merges them all for you to make sure they all work together. As I said, you don't have a large LO, so you might be fine.

Here's the section of the ini for turning off magicka and health regen:
Spoiler
;==============================================================================; REGENERATION ; ------------ ; These settings determine the rate of regeneration of Health and Magicka.; ; - healthReturnEnabled/magickaReturnEnabled -; Set this to 1 to enable ObXP's Health/Magicka Regeneration.;; - healthReturnBase -; This specifies the Base rate of Health Regen.;; - healthReturnMult -; This specifies how much each point of Willpower influences Health Regen.;; - magickaReturnBase -; This specifies the Base rate of Magicka Regen.;; - magickaReturnMult -; This specifies how much each point of Willpower influences Magicka Regen.;==============================================================================Set ObXPSettings.healthReturnEnabled	to 1 ; 1Set ObXPSettings.magickaReturnEnabled	to 1 ; 1

Set the magickaReturnEnabled to 0 to turn it off.

Ok, well let's keep our fingers crossed that the UOP fixes your crashing problem. You might try regenerating your LOD as well, just to make sure everything is good there. You'll need TES4LODGen for that.

Keep me posted.

Alright, thanks about the Oblivion XP thing.

Actually, this UOP update seems to have worked - I guess upgrading Oblivion XP somehow brought out some of the bugs. Oh well, works for me.

:) Sometimes it seems like a critical mass thing... You're fine until you change just one little thing, and then BOOM. As I said, a lot of people were having crashes in certain areas and Arthmoor tracked them down to a couple of issues, so he fixed them in the UOP. These people weren't even running Ob XP...

Doesn't BOSS sort these properly? Zachski is using BOSS on his load order.

Yeah.

The only thing with BOSS is you do need to have a look at the very bottom of the report to make sure there isn't anything it didn't know about, and therefore didn't sort properly. However that didn't look like it was the case here, your LO looked pretty good to me. BOSS certainly knows about KotN and DR 6, so I'd think those would be correct...
