Oblivion:Vampire Cure Patched?

Post » Wed May 11, 2016 7:45 am

OK can we remove patches or something? This is so heartbreaking! For those of you who are aware, in the game once you completed the Vampire Cure quest the option for the reward never disappears, so you can get as rich as you want whenever you're in need. I found this a very useful glitch, heck in Skyrim there's a glitch where you can get the same book over and over and can get rich through it.

Just now, about 2 mintues ago, I just finished this quest and---the reward option disappeared. Got to Googling and the staff had PATCHED IT?! ARE-YOU-SERIOUS!? Why patch what might be one of the most useful things in the game!? I barely earn enough money to even buy everything to go with the Imperial House, when not using trainers.

It just confuses me why they would patch this..can we petition them to unpatch it? What did they patched the book glitch in Skyrim as well? I'm not even sure when this was patched as sure it as fine last time I played..sorry but saying it now, they were STUPID to patch this! Sure others had raged and sent them very heated mail, you just don't patch a useful glitch like this after so many years. If it was patched a long time ago and it just took affect suppose it's fine, but I'm still MAD! THE best way to earn money, and they just took it away. Well, I'm forever doomed to see stuff I wanna buy but never be able to do so again, but I spend all my gold on training and repairs, they just KILLED part of my Oblivion soul with this patch.

I sound to enraged I know, but I am sure they were mailed by many enraged fans who are far more curse heavy than I'd ever be. As I asked at the top, can this be unpatched? I am totally up to delete my entire file and start from the bottom zero just to get this glitch back, it was too useful to had been patched...a glitch where the Count gives you unlimited money and the complete strain of not being able to afford ANYTHING IN THE GAME........just gone...the biggest mistake in my books.

Well, there goes about 40% of stuff I was able to do and afford without weeks on end of selling loot just for a few thingd...curse you Bethesda, I doubt you'd ever listen but if you do UNPATCH THIS PLEASE! Again sorry, but this is the one thing I will bet my life over that they should never had patched, it was just too helpful for us AND NO I likely can not copy items as I have the 360 version. If the only way to fix this is to delete every single thing for the game from my 360, FINE, I will do it, no matter the cost I can't even buy DLC or afford gold account anyways.

If I can unpatch this by other means then thank God, it's just too annoying to sell stuff as it barely gets you enough to last even 1 item I find. I will never be able to afford the other houses nor much of anything ever again thanks to this patch..so hopefully I can unpatch this, if not I am deleting everything and refuse every patch for the game as I'd rather have this.

Unless I'm living under a rock or something I doubt Bethesda suddenly released a new patch after all these years. I dunno why you'd suddenly stop being able to get the reward tho.

tbh I'm surprised you're having trouble with money, assuming you're getting mid-to-late game on your character. I'm not good at video games and I don't use any crazy tricks or exploits, but inevitably I get to the point on characters where money is essentially meaningless because I have huge amounts of gold and loot with little to spend it on. Maybe you can try the guides to making money and the like on UESP wiki?

At least, I think you'll have more luck with that than getting Bethesda to un-patch an exploit on a decade-old game.

Well again sure it was fine last time, and well I just can't keep the gold. I can never get it up to 3000, at least easily. I had close to it but then it went 80% all to two trainers, so it went from 2600 to 116 gold in matter of seconds. I was told the arena gets you 5000 gold but that's likely to get spent faster than I had gotten it as well. This glitch really helped and save me many an headaches, sure the other glitches were fixed as well as the Wiki said the copying glitch was fixed as well. These guys were hard pressed on making sure we couldn't easily get money.

It'd take hours and almost a full 12 hour day for me to raise enough money to buy one of the houses or a few spells, Idk why but even in the game I'm a poor beggar. XD Well not really, but you get the idea. Not every player is going to be able to make gold and have no issues with keeping it.

EDIT:OK this patch was in 2006, ten years ago...well not sure why it worked before, is there just a simple way of unpatching this without deleting stuff?

PC or console? .. If you're a console player that glitch has probably played itself out, and the only way you'll get it back is if you have a previous save which takes you back to just before the glitch occurred. Load this save, glitch your heart away, and continue playing.

If you're on PC you have all sorts of options, cheaty and legitimate.

Sorry. You must be new around here, Everything Crackomint says is true, so far as Bethesda, and patching (or unpatching) old games, it aint gonna happen. Go ahead, start a petition. It'll get about as far as you can throw it.

And you're not making enough money adventuring? Really? :ermm: I will echo Crackomint again. As you go up in levels, the money you can get just selling loot gets ridiculous.

Console, and so what? I just reload back to before his wife was cured and hope for the best and reload if not? And well I don't usually play for long, for example getting the glass items to appear is rare as I usually stop before or after they do, very rarely do I get to lvl 25 on an normal playthrough. I used to explore a whole lot, a whole lot, but with age come new interests...and got stuff to do now my younger self had so much free time he could had been rich irl if he had the net...

Well that's a shame. Yes, free time can be hard to come by.

So if I understand correctly - you don't have a lot of time to play the game but would like to have some of the nicer goodies - house, horse, etc. It is quite true that after a while of play, if you spend some time looting dungeons, that you end up with so much money you can't possibly spend it all. But that does take a little while, and until you start seeing ebony, glass, and daedric stuff dropping regularly, money can take some effort. Especially if you want the nicer houses fully furnished.

There are several early game tricks to getting some decent income flow, though since this isn't the Cheats/Hints/Spoilers forum I can't really help you too much. Actually you can get as rich as you want at level 1 without ever leaving the Imperial City. Go look up Exploitable Glitches on the uesp.net web site and you'll find one you can use.

Alternately, and a little less exploity (other than needing meta-knowledge that your character would not have), there is at least one place that is safely reachable where a stack of rather expensive fruit can looted, which respawns every 72 hours. Loot it, sell it, adventure for a few days, repeat.
