Oblivion via Steam - Do I need patches?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 3:25 am

I checked over the forums and couldn't find an answer. I bought the deluxe edition of Oblivion on Steam this weekend and I was wondering if it comes with all the patches? (I've played OB since release, so I'm not new to the game, just retired my 2006 disc. Heck, to get the game and all the DLCs again in one package for only 12 bucks, it's a steal!)

Anyway, I also want to install some mods I've played with in the past, but was wondering if I have to go about it a different way, using Steam or do I just drop them into the Data folder as usual?

Thanks for all the help in advance!

Steam version is already pathced, you don't need to worry about them, but do get the unofficial patches. As for mods, the installation doesn't differ at all from the disc version, however if you are using Windows Vista or 7 and have Steam installed in Program Files folder, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/user-account-control may cause some issues, as it is quite protective of the program files folder. Easiest solution would be to install Steam somewhere else, i have it on C:\Games\Steam for example.

Thanks ToJKa! I'll turn UAC off if I have to LOL and yea, I'm using Win 7 64-bit. I'll look for the unofficial patches!

Just move Steam, it's safer. The instructions are in the Steam KB
