ive installed and uninstalled oblivion 3 times now and still cannot get it to play,i get to launch but when i try to play it goes to a tiny little box then goesto an error report to sen to microsoft, any hints on how to resolve this.

No information, no clue. When you decide you really want to know, include everything else you left off.

Post a dxdiag:
Start - Run (if Vista/Win7, the search box acts like Run) - type dxdiag - hit Enter - "save all info" button - open txt file and copy/paste EVERYTHING here

If you had the game playing in your system before, perhaps your previous uninstall didn't go all the way through. Try this guide:

Do you have two monitors on your system ?

If so, completely disconnect your secondary monitor, reboot computer, make sure Windows is running in single-monitor mode only.

It solved problem for me. Methinks game gets confused if your main window monitor shows up as monitor 2 when in dual-monitor mode.
