in oblivion you find your self in prison for what reason?

Post » Sat Dec 03, 2011 10:48 am

in morrowind, I assumed that you had been imprisoned on trumped up charges cause they needed you to work with blades.

but the emporer has no political/game reason to have you in prison.

I don't think you ever find out, but maybe I missed something,.

does the game ever say what you allegedly did?

The game never says why you were in that prison cell. It is entirely up to you to decide. You could have been framed. You could have gotten into a bar brawl and tossed in the clink. You might have been caught stealing, or murdering someone. You could be the Emperor's long lost daughter and was thrown in there by the Emp himself after trying to blackmail him. You might have went to sleep in your bed, then woken up in the cell after having a funny dream about a dragon picking you up and flying across the sky with you. It is all up to your own imagination.

Yeah the game leaves it up to you to decide. I think at the start one of the blades says "this prisoner isn't supposed to be here" when they come down to your cell. So you're there through a curious twist of fate, but you can decide what that twist is.

Hunter should never have taken that juicy bacon. Although if he didn't, he'd still be a poor ranger living off the land. Now he's on a pilgrimage to Skyrim to start a family :D

Buffy and her friend were on a trip to visit the big city. It did not go well. Here is a snip from Episode 1 of her Journal:

* * *
I spun around to see City Swimmer drop the two apples she was trying to steal and run for the exit. Grabbing a club from under his counter, the merchant jumped towards the door with surprising speed. He managed to grasp the fleeing Argonian's tail and spun her around, such that he now blocked her escape. "Thieving lizard. I'll show you!" he angrily spat. The Argonian raised her hands to soften repeated blows from the falling club, while trying desperately to get to the door.

"Stop!" I yelled, "She already dropped the apples!" The merchant ignored my pleas and kept hitting my friend. I thought he was going to kill her. Without thinking, my bow jumped into my hand and I loosed an arrow into the side of the merchant's chest. Just like a deer in the forest, he fell. City Swimmer ran out the door.

The shopkeeper wasn't moving. Blood was seeping from where the deeply imbedded arrow protruded, and trickled into a slowly growing pool on the wooden floor. I had never shot a man or mer before, and just stared at him, my feet frozen in place.

Before I could decide what to do, a mountain of gray armor charged into the shop, booming, "Stop right there, criminal scum!"

My sputtering attempts at sweet talking only resulted in the soldier sternly adding, "You're under arrest." He then drew his long silver sword to emphasize the point.
Having heard horrible stories about the Imperial Prison, I swallowed hard, and made a choice.

I tried to bolt past the soldier's left side and out the door. As soon as I took my first step however, he extended his shield arm in a vicious bash.

The blow knocked the wind from me and sent me flying. An explosion of light and pain erupted as I hit the nearby wall. The wooden planks of the floor were rising up to meet me as if in slow motion, but I was powerless to stop myself from falling. My world collapsed into a field of silent blackness.

If you knew that was a crime, you wouldn't have done it, would you?

I always sort of assumed either I was arrested by mistake, or over a misunderstanding.

You would be surprised to learn how many people do read them, and write their own.

probably sixing up the emperor's wife...that seems like something you get thrown in jail for. Seriously i think the prisoner thing is a way to show how the lowliest of mortals can overcome anchient sorcerers, super necromancers, kill or even become a god

Sorry, and your evidence for this is what precisely? You can't know whether people read them or not unless you can see inside their heads. I certainly read them. Sometimes I even write my own. I find them fascinating.

As for my characters, I choose to believe one was in there for stealing, and another was never there at all as they share the same 'world' so only one will be doing the main quest, if she ever does it at all.

I read them, and I write my own. I don't write them for people to read them, but for my Roleplaying experience and because its just nice to write something :).

For ZombieUnicorn: I realize Buffy is not everyone’s cup of Tamika’s and certainly don’t expect everyone to read her. As you can clearly see though, she has enough friends here who are interested in her life to make posting snips (when they are on topic as this one clearly was) from her large fan fiction story worthwhile. The full episodes are quite a bit longer and we post those on a site dedicated to such things. :)

Buffy is blessed with many dear friends. For those who posted here in support, I am most grateful. :wavey:

For kelticpete: I humbly apologize that your fine thread has been driven off topic and hope it will return to the question of how our characters ended up in the Imperial Prison.

So is this Blanche a new character of yours? Why does she have a cart? Did she end up in prison because she stole it?

I will try to make an effort.

Lothran originally came from Morrowind, being a Dunmer and all. He liked it there, except for the presence of the empire. He hated them, their influence on his country and how they had effectively destroyed the traditional Dunmer ways of living. He decided that the best way of kicking them out was to destroy the empire as a whole, beginning with the emperor himself. He travelled to Cyrodiil and began making up plans on how exactly he was gonna do it. Unfortunately one night at an inn he got a little too much to drink and when that happens, he always starts to talk. It wouldn′t have been too much of a problem if it hadn′t been for that newly examined Imperial Guard who overheard his plans about the empire and of course the emperor.

So that′s how it went down for poor Lothran who only wanted to have his country free from imperial oppression and influence. After his short stay incarcerated though, and the emperor being killed anyway without anything being changed, he decided to abandon his plans and head for Bruma. There was this fellow called 'Ongar the World-Weary' who he had heard could help him out in other ways.. :ninja:

My character is a young breton woman of noble origin, brought in prison by some of the imperial legions returning from the last of the so called civilising missions. She was systematically abused by the legionnaires, and the captain decided to bring her for his own amusemant and of his trusted comrades. When all the chutiya-giri starts (hence one says "This one should not be here!"), she is too frail to have a direct attempt at revenge.

She turns out to be a seductive, intelligent and dangerous woman. And extremely evil in her ways... :chaos:

EDIT: and I do love reading materials posted here. Actually, is this sort of stuff that gives life to the game in general and some characters in special. I encourage anyone to do that and post if so he wishes. Not everything will appeal to all of us, but writing is an excellent exercise in creative thinking and enhances play experience constantly.

Seriously! These Imperials? Fights to the death in the Arena are fine but clear out one bar and the first two squads of guards to show up and they get all huffy. Is the true spirit of amateur competition only alive in Skyrim these days  ?

It's obvious from the conversation with the Emperor that nobody knows why you're in jail, including you, so it's probably just some bureaucratic mix up that would have been cleared up in a decade or so if you hadn't escaped on your own.

OTOH, my characters always seem to have a suspicious amount of knowledge about the fines for necrophilia....
