OblivionXP + FCOM

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 5:16 am

Hi there,

Iam new to Oblivion and did install the GOTY edition + FCOM + OblivionXP and some other small mods so far. I did invest more time for the mod installs than i could play the game in the last days...well but I did succeed and played up to lvl 3 so far.

After reading a bit about OblivionXP i saw the following:

Since v4.0.0, Oblivion XP now has skill level requirements. This means that you can't progress to the next level of skill Mastery (e.g. Journeyman, Expert, Master) unless you meet the player level requirements. Per default, the level requirements to skill progression are as follows:

• Apprentice (Skill Level 25+): Player Level 0+
• Journeyman (Skill Level 50+): Player Level 5+
• Expert (Skill Level 75+): Player Level 10+
• Master (Skill Level 100+): Player Level 20+
• Grand Master (Skill Level 150+): Player Level 30+

Alright so far I understand the basic setting of OblivionXP is lvl 50 !? + skill lvl capped at 100, stat points capped at 100 aswell.

Iam a bit confused since with the skill cap at 100 I would not reach even Master of "xxxskill" or do I miss something here ?

Since Iam using FCOM + OblivionXP I wonder if the basic settings from ObXP are alright to progress in the game.....Iam just afraid that I lvl up too fast and cant reach GrandMaster at all.

I did read that there is another uncapper mod where you can set the max lvl and skill level, but this is for me impossible since I have no idea how FCOM influences the gameplay and how xp is calculated.

Maybe there are some people out there who did play or are playing FCOM with ObXP and can share some tips...Iam a stealth/archer and have already 49 skill points in marksman with lvl 3 ....and max is 100 with lvl 50 when I use the basic settings so dont think this is alright except i did missunderstand something.

Thx a lot for the help

Well Elys uncapper is just a tool to uncap the skill aswell stat points, yes its essential when you want to change this.

Is there anyone around who did advance already a lot or did even finish the game with oblivionXP and FCOM and can tell if the basic settings with maximal 100 skill points (this seems to be Expert) are balanced enough, or maybe has expirience with both mods and the uncapper....?

Perhaps try posting your question in the Oblivion XP thread or, failing that, the FCOM thread?

My settings, I'm only using OOO:

Set ObXPSettings.attributePointsPerLevel to 10; 13; overpoweredSet ObXPSettings.skillPointsPerLevel to 30; 36; overpoweredSet ObXPSettings.multXPLevel to 0.1; 0.2; the XP gain from everything other than quests is a bit too high; thinking of lowering it; personal tasteSet ObXPSettings.multXPBook to 15; 25; at level 1 if you paid a visit to the first edition you could gain about 2-3 levels from reading books; personal tasteSet ObXPSettings.multXPLockpick to 5; 15; personal tasteSet ObXPSettings.multXPSleeping to 0.00; 0.03; useless/overpoweredSet ObXPSettings.capAttributes to 150; 100; personal taste, only with Elys, as high as 200; I didn't raise it to 200 so fortify attributes spells/items would still have an effectSet ObXPSettings.capLevel to 60; 50; not importantSet ObXPSettings.capSkills to 150; 100; same as aboveSet ObXPSettings.fatigueControlEnabled to 0; 1; your choice, reallySet ObXPSettings.healthControlEnabled to 0; 1; overpoweredSet ObXPSettings.magickaControlEnabled to 0; 1; overpoweredSet ObXPSettings.healthReturnEnabled to 0; 1; personal taste, I like Race Balancing Project moreSet ObXPSettings.magickaReturnEnabled to 0; 1; same as above

I'm level 36. By level 28 or so with the default settings you would be master in most of your skills (I did).

Thanks for posting that, Ksajal! I'm using Realistic Leveling + Progress currently, but I was thinking about switching to Oblivion XP . . . that looks like a useful base to start from if I do.

Will try some of these settings and hope more player can contribute in this thread, Iam sure a lot did play with these mods combined and new ones could need some advice here.

Thx a lot for the posts.....

edit:

I did change so far the suggestions except skill points per lvl & attributes per lvl aswell no change with cap lvl & skill/attribute cap so far. Iam playing with FCOM and it is not so easy with my low lvl character as a pure stealth marksman, but I think lowering the XP in general like suggested is better since you get from to many sources expirience points. I think i will play some more lvl and see how how game balance is comming along (just got almost one shotted in one of the forts around the beginner area, guess that was a high lvl maureder), there is still the option to uncap things later and change settings. Maybe some play with FCOM + OblivionXP aswell ?
