If you downloaded the manula version it goes inthe \blivion filder

Then you either make a shortcut to the .exe on your desktop or browse to \oblivion directory and run fromthere. Shortcut is easier.

The installer does everything for you so that is the best option to use when installing it, especially if you are new to this stuff.

He was referring to the executable. When installing OBMM, it is recommended that you use the .exe version, as opposed to the manual archive installation.

http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/prep <-- I suggest reading all of it, but the link to OBMM and installation instructions are near the middle of the page.

Edit: Follow the steps until you reach Installing Mods. At the bottom of that page, there are links to the OBMM Installation page and OBMM scripts examples. You should definitely read Installing Mods first, however.

Do you have a popup blocker?

There should be a popup window which will then activate the download to your computer. Make sure you know where your browser automatically downloads things to.

If you had to right-click and choose "open link in new tab" then you either have a popup blocker active, or javascript is turned off.

Either way, TESNexus is not going to work properly for you unless you give it proper permissions.

Did you click on "Add archive" or "Add folder"? It should have opened a window where you need to browse for what you want to add.

Edit: Are you reading these instructions? http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/installmods/obmm-installation

Edit: Did you read the page I linked earlier, along with the subsequent pages? Those pages should help you not make a mess of your setup...

i think i am beginning to understand how this whole messy process works now...but i am having a problem with tesnexus. i want to get a seemingly popular mod called Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul. The only problem is that when i type that in and search for it, nothing comes up. When i type in the abbreviation OOO, a bunch of other mods that don't look like the original come up. The same thing happened with MMM. Help?

Read this MMMforOOO Installation guide: http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/mmmooo. It says this, but you are expected to have read the Preparing for Mods page. I suggest you follow the instructions on that page to download Wrye Bash. You do not have to install Wrye Bash, however. Just ignore mentions of the bashed patch and Wrye Bash at the end of the guide. You do, however, need to download and install BOSS. Read Preparing for Mods.

Edit: That guide will give you links to everything you need to download to setup MMM+OOO properly.

TESNexus search is really, really picky.

In the case of OOO, you need to leave the apostrophe out of "Oscuro's" in order to find it.

For MMM, the spelling varies.

Honestly, you're better off looking on the forums here for the threads for those mods and getting the links from there. At least for the really big mods.

Cool, if you have an feedback about the site or need things clarified, please post in the site's thread on this forum. The relevant link in my thread is the Performance & Optimization Info link. You can also find a link on the Site's contacts page.

I have come across one problem it would seem with OBMM, and need some clarification. It seems that when i am making a new omod in OBMM i can only choose .esp files. If a file is not a .esp, how do i create an omod with it? Is there a way to switch its file type?

You should not extract the downloads. Add the archive itself into the OMOD. Choose "Add archive" to add archives or "Add folder" to add folders or "Add files" to add specific files. You should not be adding the ESPs themselves most of the time. Where is the original archive? You should be adding the whole thing to the OMOD.

well, what i was doing was taking what was downloaded and putting it into a newly created folder. Then i would Add File from that folder, but when the file isnt a .esp, it won't even show up

What do you mean by when the file is NOT and ESP? Most mod downloads are archives: .7z, .rar or .zip.
