OBSE Portions of Mods Not Working

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 1:29 pm

Hello All!

I'm new to the forums and Oblivion (just got it a few days ago) and I've been having some problems with the OBSE portions of mods loading. I've been using the Chingari and Ismelda Demon Race Mod, which works fine, but neither the wings nor the option to fly loads (the only OBSE portions of the mod). I can enable OBSE mods and the game doesn't crash or anything, just the mods don't work properly. For example, when trying to load the Demon Race Mod's flying options I can access the menu once per load game, but it disappears after I click it and won't come back up, even when the appropriate console command is entered. I've also tried to use Scorn's Vampirism, which doesn't work at all (I'm assuming due to the fact it's entirely an OBSE mod). With Scorn's Vampirism, the initial menu comes up, then I can use the 'configure vampirism' once before it won't come up again. None of the hotkeys work, even the preset ones basically making the mod useless. Equipping the Ring of Gods brings up an onscreen prompt "Ring of Gods equipped", but not the actual console like it's supposed to.

To the best of my knowledge, all the mods are installed correctly and I've updated the obse_loader.dll with the one recommended by Valve. I'm running the 'deluxe' version of Oblivion that just went on sale on Steam (included all the dlc). I have installed the Demon Race Mod, Scorn's Vampirism, the unofficial Oblivion patch, the unofficial mods patch, It's a Wig, Slof's Goth Shop, Ring of Mods, Molal's Treasury, and TFF Races.

If anyone has any idea what would be causing this, or has had a similar problem I'd greatly appreciate some help. :D

Thanks,
Absynthe

Welcome to the forum buddy :) How are you starting your game? Are you using the default game launcher or the OBSE loader? If you are using the default game launcher, the OBSE will not function properly. Be sure to launch the game via OBSE loader from now on.

The OP mentioned it's on Steam, so I guess it's starting through the Steam loader and neither of the external programs.
I'm not using Steam myself, so I'm not that knowledgeable about it, but did you also check this Steam community ingame thing that needs to be checked as per the OBSE documentation?

I haven't been around, so I don't know if the OBSE archive install has changed, but the key differences between the Steam version and non-Steam version installs is (or was) to make sure you added all three DLLs (one of which is just for Steam that other users do not need) and launch the game through the regular launcher.

Happy gaming!

Edit: Oh, the making sure the in-game communities checkbox is checked is important too, but that has already been mentioned... Also, isn't that the default setting??

That's correct and so is your edit. Just to clarify.

Edit: Don't use the dll in the thread on Steam. Just use the ones in the OBSE archive you download from the OBSE website. The one on the Steam Forums is way out of date.

Just wanted to say thank you all for your help! I was away from the internet for a while, but I did switch the OBSE back to the newer one and changed around a few files, and all OBSE mods are now working :D
