Obse Question

Post » Tue Oct 19, 2010 10:39 am

Have a D2D version of Oblivion installed with many mods (just short of esm/esp limit). Had some OBSE dependent mods installed then discovered that OBSE does not work with a D2D version. So I bought another Oblivion cd. The question: is there a work around with the current installation if I have a CD or do I need to reinstall the whole thing from scratch? Thanks.

You'll have to uninstall the D2D version and then install your new cd version.

Thanks, was afraid that would be the answer. At leastall my mods have already all been converted to omods.

I'm not sure how the D2D version works, but the OBSE thing is because of the .exe, right? So, conceivably, you should be able to install the CD version, and then just copy over your old data folder to the new one, and you won't have to worry about reinstalling anything.

You might run into problems with that method with DarnUI, which makes changes to the Oblivion.ini, which is in your Documents\My Games\Oblivion folder.

Since everything is omodded, I suggest that it would be less risky and not that much more work to
  • deactivate all your omods,
  • uninstall D2D Oblivion,
  • delete the Oblivion.ini,
  • install cd Oblivion,
  • start up the game once, so that it generates a new .ini,
  • activate all your omods.

I don't know the answer to your question...all I know is that I love and need OBSE.
