Observations on playing as a guy...

Post » Mon Aug 12, 2013 5:45 pm

So I've got a guy character for the first time, and BOY, Dragonscale Armor actually fits him! With my old female characters, even one that I accidentally made with the same figure as Joan from Mad Men, it always looked baggy. With another character, it was so bad that I visited the Face Sculptor or whatever to give her, ahem, a more fuller figure, and she ended up looking like something between a post-2000 porm star and a damn Olivia painting, yet the DS Armor STILL made her look emaciated (everything else made her look like...well, a pair of briasts with a person attached, especially that Tavern Outfit--but I'D LOOK LIKE Anna Nicole Smith in that getup, too...).

I can only imagine what else I'll discover...

You should see Jester Clothing on a female character. Uh, not that I'd know about it...

Dragonscale makes everyone look thin and trim, I ditched it when I found the Deathbrand Stahlrim set. Dragonbone however looks much more substantial as it should be. The character I have that was using dragonscale was a Bosmer BTW and I only used it for the buffs, not the look. It is too reminiscent of a body suit IMO. *Shudder*

Some of you need to get out more and find a real woman.

Does it depend on race? The armor the OP speaks of seems to fit my Breton female Dovahkiin.

Yeah, some of the female armors could have been a lot better.

Steel plate's the most ridiculous and distracting, IMO. I can't take those metal boobs seriously.

This.

I decked out my female Khajiit with Blades armour. She didn't look that bad, but then again, I was in first person for the most part, and it has been a while. :P

Well, in their defense, how else could they have made steel armor for the ladies? I'm just thankful they didn't have your lady Dovahkiins run around in a metal bikini like many, many other fantasy games would have you do. It actually covers her entire body.

Indeed. However, the mod community thinks otherwise. :D

I was expecting something like the Steel Armor from Oblivion where it's the same for males and females because of its shape. I don't mind boobplate too much, but damn that armor practically screams "LOOK AT ME! I AM BOOBS!"

That said, the game's (and the series in general) pretty good about having armor showing (and not showing) an equal amount of skin on males and females.

On the subject of dragon armor, I find that the Dragonbone looks absolutely awful on male characters from the front.

That's weird, I have never had a female player but just from having Serana as a follower I seemed to notice that when ever I gav her armor it seemed to be tailor made for her, especially the Blades armor and similar suits.

I guess it's all about perspective here?

It's the same for everyone, even Dovahkiin. The same outfit that a man would wear would suddenly change into something a woman would wear.

Already made another discovery! Every single combination of regular clothes a male character can wear makes them look like Belethor's man-child assistant! Keep in mind too that my character is like 5-6 levels away from being totally maxed out body weight-wise, and looks pretty to extremely stacked in most armor. Thanks to me not having a clue how to set up a character, let alone a male character, he was just 1 level shy of the maximum body size, and EVERYTHING, especially the Dark Brotherhood or Thieves Guild stuff, looked ridiculous on him...(as in, "uh...yeah, HE'S GONNA SNEAK UP ON ANYONE OR BURGLARIZE A HOUSE? SURE...UH HUH..."). Even then, all of the clothes I tried for him made him look like he had a serious meth problem or something.

The thing I had trouble with female characters is that male ones, when you remove all clothing, are wearing an era-appropriate loincloth. Females are wearing what seems to be a bikini.

It is almost impossible for me to play as a male character because of the way they run in third person. Really, who let the gorilla outta the zoo? I just hear this voice in my head going, "Duh, dupity dupe, Duh, dupity dupe". And the aforementioned affect of equipped armor making you look gigantic regardless of what body weight you have.

Unfortunately, most of the women's armor is glitched or just ugly. I have to stick with certain unbroken combinations.

That's what bugged me, too. I can't stop picturing her swimming in a modern day beach with a surfboard under her arm and beachy music playing in the background.

Seriously, what sort of undergarment did women of the modern day-equivalent era wear?

I don't like playing as a man either, mostly because the body weight makes them look grossly strong if you push it to the extreme. My male Nord has a little bit of body weight, and he looks like a realistically fit man. The extreme makes it look like he's Hulk in human-tone skin.

Women armor looks good for me. I haven't had a problem with them yet.
