Observing The Dragon In Its Natural Habitat...

Post » Sat Oct 15, 2011 6:47 pm

So far we've seen:

  • A dragon perched
  • A dragon flying
  • A dragon attacking

But what else can they do?

I mean, will you catch them walking around when they're 'non-combatitive'?
Drinking water from a river?
Sleeping?

Obviously this is a 'speculation/wishful-thinking' thread (I make alot of them)
But I bring up an interesting thought. I truly hope they do more than perch, fly, and attack.

Thoughts?

What if you saw a few of them together just chilling in like a nest or something? Or just sleeping and you walk right by it and never know, it would be cool if some look like stone and just blend in with the mountain side and just chill and not even attack you, you may not even know its there.

I like this idea, and your thread title made me think of Steve Irwin.

lol, exactly. Sort of like the teaser trailer for Skyrim or the beginning of 'Reign of Fire.'

Excellent question.

This is why I will eventually achieve uber-Chameleon, if that's still possible. I love roaming around and watching the world in Oblivion. Given how dynamic the AI is supposed to be in Skyrim, I may just turn it into my own reality tv show.

I doubt we'll see any dragons being friendly near any sort of human. I think they'll all get provoked.

I think when they said there would be friendly dragons, they were talking about 1 or 2 that will help you through the story.

Here's hoping some are friendly, and they can carry out actual actions.

Lol, that would bring something new, Bethesda has made a lot of new changes in Skyrim, so i wouldn't put it past them.

They're basically Aedric beings so they don't need to do any of that stuff.

Would love to see them hunting mammoths every now and again though as well following a migration pattern across Skyrim's landscape.

Chameleon lets you see your outline. For a better alternative, try enchanting all your armor with a constant Invisibility effect instead. Looks better. No transparent shapes of hands and bodies and such.

well, the thing is... skyrim's dragons are divine beings sent to nirn with explicit instructions; they may not need to drink or sleep, and for all we know they can leave the mortal plane or turn into statues or something in their "off time". if they were just very dangerous but perfectly natural creatures of the world, then you might expect some more natural behaviour, but as the main antagonists of the game, its unlikely they'll have any behaviour beyond "must kill mortals" and "eh.. i'll kill mortals later".

I'd like to see a certain Argonian maid ride a dragon...

Jokes aside, I'd like to see them feeding on cattle or sheep.

I'm so excited about dragons. Someone earlier asked if they could swim? There are so much things about dragons. How many different types are there? Can they swim? Are they all bad? Different shouts they can use? Can they attack villages? Will we see them hunt from afar? Will all dragons attack you on sight? Can they call for other dragons to help? Are there any dragon-bosses like black jills? Really... I'm curious.

you have no idea, nowhere in the lore is that information available, dragons are a complete mystery. now cipher8 had a thread that detailed quite a bit about dragon lore and dug up alot on alduin, but the bit about being aedric was speculation.

I hope they do more than terrorize people and actually have nests to sleep in, randomly hunt for food, and swoop down to pick up something to eat like an elk or whatever. But if they are just here to do the bidding of Alduin then I don't know if they will actually rest or have a home at all. Unfortunately, only time will tell.

I think my may "Would like to see" is a dragon walking around non-combatitively rather than just flying everywhere. I mean, I know flying's the easier route, but I want to see diversity in their actions.

The one sitting on Bleak Falls Barrow seemed like he was resting.

The other day i was driving along, minding my own business, and I was viciously poop bombed by a seagull.

My windshield withstood the blast only barely.

Made me wonder if Dragons would "dive bomb" a dovahkiin whilst he/she was out and about.
