Obsidian doing another spin-off before fallout 4?

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 10:32 pm

I want a fusion of bethesda and obsidian. Would be great for the fallout series. I loved FO3 story. The story had a good ending and it didnt end at the best part for no reason. New Vegas had the better and more balanced combat and quest amount. What I didnt like about vegas was that right when the confilict between ncr and legion came full front and felt like an actual war. It was over. Last time I checked wars drag on, this one was like 1 fight and the in between was small masacres of unprepared soldiers. I was hoping for the fight to escalate from hoover dam to something better. hopefully FO4 wont kill the story right when it gets good.

Make it like in Fallout tactics its RT but you have to use your action points to do something.

Moving two AP

Shooting depends on gun

and and and if your AP are depleted you have to wait a few seconds and than you go on, no stim spam and spray and prey with bunny hope dolphin 360 jump no scope head shoot godlike action. a little thinking would be needed in combat.

You do realize that VATS might as well be considered turn based?
Except it isn't.

Except it isn't.

It:
1) Freezes the game world
2) Lets you take aim at any section of any character nearby
3) Gives you percentages of your likelihood to hit that body part
4) Automatically fires at what is chosen

So yes it is turn based combat.

Errr, no. It's not.

Have you played the originals? Have you used that which V.A.T.S. is based off of? It's crap and it has nothing to do with TB. Nothing. Literally nothing. It's a [censored] gimmick.

Not really, it's missing the biggest part of what makes something turn based: actual turn taking. VATS has no turn system, both the player and everyone else in the general area can execute actions at the exact same time.

V.A.T.S. is default "cheat mode" and nothing more. Absolutely nothing.

Don't go back to the original gameplay! I LOVED the originals, but couldn't stand the combat, it was just so boring. I like it how it is now. (not being sarcastic) original fallouts are some of the BEST games in the universe, I love them to death, but the combat is soooo boring, especially the FO2 verti assault squad.

I literally have no possible way to relate to this post. Disappointing.

Then it should be made less boring. All the advances in technology we have over '98 would sure allow for much more engaging turnbased experience for the newer gaming crowd if there were willingness from the devs to do it.

I think Fallout should've remained as a focused niche title that it was. All this massmarket/massappeal pressure just creates disappointment and watered down experiences.

That is not true for FNV. It's actually easier to die in a VATS sequence, than outside of it.

Indeed. What I'd give to just have one Troika-made Fallout title. Well I tell you what I'd give: I'd give away any Bethesda-made or commisioned title from now until forever.

Ah, yes. They did tweak it. I remember J.E. Sawyer (who, you know, actually listens to the oldies and fans of the original games) feeling the same as many of us that Fallout 3's VATS was essentially a cheat without a code.

Who are Troika, but doesn't seem like its worth much to you if you're going to give away the Beth stuff that you supposedly think has no value :P

VATS should give any health bonuses at all, someone hits me during the sequence, they should do 100% of that damage to me

I know who those people are without clicking on the links, they all worked on the original Fallouts.
Nahh Troika still rings no bells, and I'm a big boy

Yeah. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzYmQyHl2bc What could've been... (and as a sidenote, to think that that being an early tech demo from time before Oblivion, and it still manages to look better than our current Fallout titles...)

Maybe he learned that family can easily be taken away by unforseen events and that he should cherish the time he has left with them as tomorrow one of his family members might crash their car into a donkey.

It wasn't that, it was the general destruction and devastated beauty of it. It got me into the post apocalyptic genre, which got me into prepping. If I hadn't played Fallout 3 then my life would be vastly different. Hell I'm gonna end up making money because of Fallout 3 more than likely on the book I'm writing. So long as I stop dikeing around and do it already. Sebor helped me make a wikia for it, put up what I have for the timeline.

I guess it's good that you're confident in your abilities enough to be sure you'll end up making money with it, but keep in mind that writing an interesting and consistent story is not as easy as just picking up a keyboard and starting to put words on screen. Anyone can write, but only a few can write well (like Fallout 3, for one example, so nicely shows us )

I have mostly done poems but I figured trying my hand at writing some stories was the next step. The wikia is there so other people can make their own stories in the NYAW universe.
