Obtaining Throwing Spears

Post » Fri Jun 17, 2011 1:23 am

My ceasers legion character is facing a huge lack of throwing spears. All my other characters end up stacking for themselves and selling a large number of unused throing spears, but now that I actually want them and have sided with ceasers legion, I have only found 1 at a random merchant. Where do I find more of them, or is my best bet to simply pickpocket legionaries for them?

Edit: No DLCs

Some tribals from Honest Hearts carry them as well, if you have the DLC.

If you play Dead Money, you will get a butt-load of throwing knife spears.

not sure what to tell you as there is no real source other than killing legion. You try mick and ralphs as they usually have throwing knives or hatchets

This is sad :( I guess I could just shoot a few NCr persons , lead them to the legion raid camp and hope they kill as many legionaries as possible, then i loot the corpses for spears

Unfortunately there is a large lack of throwing weapons in the main game. They do make up for this in both DLCs, but that will not help you it seems :sadvaultboy: .

You can buy throwing knifes in Goodspring every now and then, and I think the Gun Runners have throwing spears occasionally. However your best bet is to raise your sneak up, and pick pocket them. If I remember right they carry them instead of having them equipped, but I may be wrong.

*Edit* If you are willing to kill for them you could get the Rat Slayer back up way far away, and hope for a kill shot. Just make sure you are not seen, and it will not effect your rep.

I have yet to try if pickpocketing works. Only the future will tell.

To be honest on my Legion runs I just kill for them. Its standing policy in the Legion to kill those who are deemed weak, and take there place after all  .

Not really worth 20 € to get a few throwing spears.

If you're playing on PC then just access console (Tilde button usually) and type player.additem 0014d2ac

Just remember to restart Fallout New Vegas after saving if you still want to get achievements

If you wanna do that you'll prolly need a Mr.Sandman perk fix where they don't wake up when you initiate the kill. Check this out http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38385 OR use a stealth boy

Pickpockting doesn't work-n one has them, and they who have, have them equiped.

Got a group 5 vipers to attack a group of legions, the dead legionary didn't drop a single spear.

3 NCR troopers also killed a legionarie, but no spears there either :/

I wonder, if I equip NCR armor and kill legionaries, will my reputation suffer?

So now you're willing to kill them? Stealth kills, or hit them with a barrel.

Well, I've tried getting spears for hours and it just doesn't work. So yeah, I guess I'll have to kill them.

but the armor, if i wipe out a whole camp with it on, and then take it off, what happens to my ceaser reputation?

I've never had a sandman victim wake up, nor future victims lying asleep in the same room
Then again the character I gave the sandman perk also has a 100 stealth so maybe that helps

Disguising as an NCR trooper and attacking a group of 3 legionaries got me 8 spears, i'll continue doing that for a while so I stack up a good supply of spears.

A question about their respawn, though. How often and where do they respawn?

I think everybody respawns after 3 game days, but not that sure.

That said, Legion troops do carry hunting rifles, IIRC. Surely, you could use that and a machete and still stay within RP?

I want throwing spears :stare:

I'm currently using a service rifle though. binoculars, liberator and the few throwing spears I found are the rest. All the other things I sell away, I like having little equipment with me. Gives a better experience for me.
