Odd FPS Issue

Just when I got my game stable, I have been having an odd FPS issue, and I was hoping ?someone here might know why. I have a moderately heavily modded game, with QTP3-R, ?many other texture replacers, Better Cities, UL, Maskar’s Overhaul, about 150 esp files in total. ?Typically, I get about 20-30 FPS outdoors (even in the Waterfront) and about 40 or so indoors.?

Sometimes, however, when outdoors and combat ensues, after a few minutes of combat, ?the FPS will suddenly drop to maybe 10 -12. That doesn’t seem too unusual, since the machine ?is struggling with combat and the enemy AI and such, but here is the weird part.?

After the combat is over, the FPS stays at 10-12. If I travel to a different cell, the game ?recovers, but if I go back to the area where the combat occurs, the FPS will drop back to 10-12. ?If I travel to another area, let the FPS improve, save the game, reboot the computer, reload the ?save and then travel back to the area where the combat occurred, the FPS will still drop to 10-??12.?

It’s like that area permanently gets burned into the savegame file as a low FPS area. ?That seems really odd to me. Does anyone know why this happens??

So, far, my solution has been to reload a prior save before combat, drop the difficulty ?down to the lowest setting, end the combat quickly. If I do that, the FPS never drops in the first ?place, so the problem never occurs.?

I never have this issue in interior spaces, only exterior, so I can bump the difficulty ?slider to normal for interior combat. This solution of adjusting the difficulty for outdoor ?combat has been working, but I would really like to understand how an FPS drop for a ?particular area can get permanently saved into a savegame file.?

Anyone have any ideas??

My system specs are a Lenovo y400 laptop with a 2.4 ghz i-7 processor, 8 GB RAM, a GT 750M 2GB graphics card and Windows 8.1 (64 bit) with LAA.

My load order is below, although it has now changed slightly, and I no longer run Streamline or Salmo the Baker, but everything else is the same.

Look in your Prefs file and make sure these two lines look like this, unless your using a controller...

bGamePadRumble=0

bGamepadEnable=0

As to the combat, any mods that add to the combat, or increase spawns, etc? Those will kill your FPS. You could also try reducing the draw distance on actors and other scripty objects.

I am not familiar with the "prefs" file. I am familiar with the .ini file. I looked in the .ini file and could not find any lines with bGamePadRumble or bGamePadEnable. Where is the "prefs" file?

CCNA is confused with the Fallout games. Oblivion doesn't have a Pref file, only the ini.

Well that explains why I couldn't find it. Oblivion doesn't seem to have a rumble setting in its ini. There is a bUse Joystick line, which I have set to "0". I do use a controller but with Xpadder, so I don't need Oblivion's native controller support, which isn't very good anyway.

Anyway, I don't think an overall improvement with FPS explains why the FPS won't recover to where it was before it dropped, even if I reboot the computer.
