Odd things you do

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:23 pm

The title says it all. I was wondering what odd things others do, like for example collecting things, avoiding certain areas for reasons other than it being too hard, making ugly characters, etc. I for one collect some random junk that I think would look good in my house in Megaton, like coffee pots and pencils and whatnot. I also try to make ugly characters. So, what odd things do you do?

I horde 44. magnum revolvers even with characters who never use them. I also collect tons of empty bottles, but that is because I can refill them with nuka cola quantum from a tap in the nuka plant thanks to a mod I use.

Also, whenever I get to minefield for the first time I hunt down every single mine and disarm it. Even ones outside the town's perimeter. I guess I like to get all that experience and free stuff, and not worry about stepping on one later.

Extreme cleptomania. If I can pick it up and put it into my inventory, I will. I don't care about the weight:value ratio. Just got to steal it all.

I collect nukacolas. All kinds, in new vegas also. Then stack them on a shelf in an organized fashion, although it's very bugged and usually physics will destroy piles with more than 6 in them after entering house next time.

I always use the locker on the opposite side of the door in Megaton for the regular stuff I don't want to carry, spare weapons, armour, etc.

I use the locker next to the door for the special and unique items I find (named weapons, collectibles, etc.)

...and now you know where I keep the good stuff if you want to rob my house.

I pick up everything I see. Everything. Milk bottles, bent tin cans, all of the burned and destroyed books inside the library. I've cleaned out every single item inside L.O.B. Enterprises and the Arlington Metro Utility twice without the benefit of mods to up my carryweight.

I go to Underworld at the start of every game before discovering Megaton.

My bed usually looks like http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/1582/teddiesn.jpg.

I collect squirrel-on-a-stick and pick up every coffee mug I see. And coffee pots. I go straight to Underworld at the start of every game to grab Charon. I can't really play without him following along behind me; things are just too quiet if he's not around.

I also like to cover my bed in Teddy Bears and always like to have one gnome by the front door. And, although I moved to the PC over a year ago, and have all kinds of modded homes available to me, my favorite house is still the Megaton house, unmodded. I just give it a theme. Oh, that's not true, there is a mod I love, that puts a coffee pot into it that makes coffee. Thus my obsession with coffee consumption supplies.

I collect vault uniforms, repair them fully, then reverse pickpocket them all on the people of Megaton. Gob usually gets the Mechanist's outfit, including helmet. I RPP Enclave armor on Raiders, so the battles later are epic. And I try to collect the unique things, like the mini chessboard, and the mini gnomes, big teddy, stuff like that. Which makes for a lot of trips, because if you carry two or more, they all revert to normal size.

Hehe, I love gnomes too. I've moved them out of my house and have placed them around Megaton. Everywhere.

I also take every single item I see and have strewn them around Megaton as well. Place really looks like a garbage dump now. . . .someone should clean up :whistling:

Considering how well of a job the caretaker of Rivet City does, don't count on much.

I do this too. :) I haven't got around to naming them all yet, though.

I store all my weapons and armour in the locker opposite the door, and all misc items in the locker next to the door. All food (and my Quantum collection) goes in the refrigerator (so it stays fresh).

Not yet. I mostly just collect them as I see them so I still don't have very many with this playthrough yet. Once I finish off my to-do list (get uniques etc.) the great teddy hunt will begin!

That's another, I collect all of the unique weapons and items as I think of them, even if I don't use them. They make great trophies for my house. Gotta love Action Abe.

Nice collection Ghouls.

I absolutely refuse to touch alchohol or jet (the other chems are OK as they're more prescription drugs). Every time I find them I always sell them for caps. Also untill recently I've always named my character after myself and tried to make him look like me as much as possible.

Wow, thanks for all of the replies! I was just wondering this while wandering through a metro. I keep all of my energy weapons in the locker immediately left of the door in megaton, and all cool armor in the one across the room from that. I also put all small guns and melee weapons in the thing next to the bed. I use the Pre-War Theme so my house looks nice and clean!

Wow, so many people are so neat and tidy... I just stuff all the things I don't want to carry around into the locker by the door in the Megaton house (which has no theme or decorations whatsoever, I only ever go there for a quick nap and to hear a joke from Wadsworth, lol...) and then promptly forget about them and never touch them again. :blush2:
The only thing I'm anol about is the condition of my weapons and armor - The moment my Xuanlong rifle goes a single percent below 100 in condition, and I don't have a backup Chinese one to patch it up with, I go hunting muties for loot.

Oh, wait, I know - I will go out of my way to avoid confrontations with the Enclave, even if it means taking a giant detour just to skirt around a lone Enclave trooper. I feel very bad each time I am forced to kill one. I never loot their armor, so as not to leave their naked bodies lying around, and even try to arrange the corpses in a respectful manner if they end up sprawled in some ditch.
That odd enough?

HeeHee! I do the same thing with the Enclave soldiers! I'm not sure why, but it just seems more disrespectful to strip them down than a Raider.

As for the weirdest thing I do...on some playthroughs I try not to disturb anything in the game world at all unless I have to for a quest. I rely on traders to restock. It makes it challenging, but that is not why I do it. I'm just somewhat obsessive-compulsive at times.
