Official 150 Meshes Replacement overhaul

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:25 am

This will be my 150 meshes recreation overhaul, for a few weeks to come, I will be recreating each and as many vital models in Morrowind, first stage is I will replace most lamp lights and torches, second stage will be misc items, plates, forks, cups. third stage will be whatever will come in mind.

however, here's some of the first peeks of my remodeling overhaul.

http://clip2net.com/clip/m14405/1265017406-clip-561kb.png - lantern, not completed but this is the first model I've replaced, I'm going to remodel a Different version, unless everyone likes it "alot" but I don't think it was as successful as my second remodeling below.

I will try to keep this updated!

as for anyone looking for original concepts that Bethesda overlooked, or any other concepts I'm more then happy to have a look at them, do not be afraid to share any ideas, or give suggestions.
keep in mind that I will not be doing any weapons, armor or clothes or anything body related just yet, as I have several stages to catch up on. I will try to post more screen shots soon!

all objects will use Morrowind's vanilla textures, to best blend into anyone's texture replacement nicely.

Ooh, that looks good!

Will there be compatibility issues between this and texture replacers? I know there are many that change the textures of the things you plan to change.

Solid fire, I like the way you keep the esscense of the vanilla meshes in your new models.
Also the improved textures are great, as well as adding a flame to the lantern. (do they really not have a burning wick in game?)

Can you remodel bread later when you work on misc. objects? Perhaps change them to muffins. :frog:

....
no maybe not muffins.

EDIT: Okay hahah, you said you use vanilla textures... totally missed that, but the difference your new mesh makes on that candle stand was great enough to where I thought it was a new textures. Testiment to quality i guess.

I demand donuts!

Though having a better model for bread would be awesome... right now it looks like it's already been eaten >.>

there will be no texture replacement incompatability issues, unless you've downloaded a mod that replaces all numerous objects. those will cause conflicts, but not in a bad way, just makes them look different then you'd want to.

any texture replacement mods will give them the look to better blend in whatever textures you'd prefer.

to avoid that, I may spend some time creating a ESP file to replace all objects accordingly. but I'm assuming most would want the pluginless replacement.

chances are I will make better foods, and along the way there might be chances I'll be adding newer misc items never-before-seen-ingame-or-anywhere else! :D oh and I love doughnuts, so does Azura. :3

as for breads, you've given me an idea for half eaten, fresh, and moldy breads! also, we all know how bread splits when being baked, leaving a fresh crack in the bread, it won't be flat like some painted rock. imo

Looks really good, Solidfire, I always love to see the games Meshes get a little improvement from time to time - helps bring out some extra life to go with all those lovely texture replacements out there. Keep up the good work!

Oh, and I agree, bread could certainly use a nice polishing up :)

Just one thing, please. Don't go overboard with adding things... or keep them separate - vanilla replacement and a different one for custom objects.

Looks good so far. Many modelers make things extremely high poly, and even though they have more detail, they still dont look right in a game. These seem to be an exception to that rule, more detailed than before, but not too much.

The idea of half eaten and moldy food would add alot of atmosphere imo!
Abandonded shacks and living spaces with moldy food still out-
Half eaten food in empty homes with nearby owners...

Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Great, then you have my full support. Any chances you will do the tilesets as well? Those have needed an overhaul for a long, long time. You dont need to recreate them from scratch, just add to them. I know that would be an insane amount of work though, perhaps just do the most used ones like the common and imperial interiors.

Looking nice.
Between this, and the Mesh Improvements that Armed _Defender has already done, everything is going to be looking much better.

I personally wouldn't worry about the misc items like plates, forks, etc, etc. There are quite a few replacers out there already, although most are very high poly and textured. Of course, your choice, but it would be good to work on other models not yet touched.

For impact how about looking at buildings? I'm sure they could benefit from a few more poly's added to them. Especially the wooden pillars.

Remember to remove doubles in Blender.. All the original meshes seems to have them, so you could probably add detail without making the meshes more demanding than the original meshes. I tried it on the Silt Strider just for fun, and it had quite a few.. Good luck.

Agreed, the only mesh improvement mod I've seen looks like it just meshsmooths the meshes, and doesn't even edit the UVs.
You could see this best with the candles, where they'd just been meshsmoothed giving them wierd zig-zaggy UV seams.

I personally wouldn't call meshes like that more detailed, just smoother. Better detail to me, is more creative texture use and newly modeled parts (which is what I'm seeing here).
Make sure the UVs are even on the meshes Solidfire, I think I see a little stretching, the models themselves look great! :foodndrink:

Models look great, but please keep the meshes to the same dimensions as the originals, to avoid clipping in game. :)

Good luck on finishing it.

This was going to be my suggestion as well. IIRC Ghustnull and Neloth's Mouth have both released absolutely superb replacers for silverware and Armed Defender, Neloth's Mouth, and Qarl have all given us lots of great meshes to choose from for the misc items.

I think you should do whatever you want and whatever holds your interest, I'm just pointing out that these particular items have received LOTS of attention in the past while pretty much everything else has been neglected and some of it could sure use an update. :^) In particular, I seem to notice the low-poly rocks quite often while running around, they would look absolutely gorgeous if their jagged edges were smoothed away, but I'm sure that's a very large undertaking. There's really hundreds of suggestions we could make... I really just hope you choose something that you like to do and I hope it's something that hasn't been done before. ;^)
