Official: Beyond Skyrim

I'm okay with a 5 year wait actually. In-between we get a new Fallout game, and we rest assured knowing that the next TES will have a massive overhaul, both in graphics and gameplay. As a PC player, I also get to play a lot of mods that are years in the making, such as Nehrim and Eslweyr Anequina, as well as massive community projects like Onra's Tamriel Heightmaps. If there were only a 2-3 year gap between these releases, I think a lot of people might move on, restricting the amount of big mods we see.

I know a lot of people stayed on with Morrowind when Oblivion released, and I'm sure a lot of modders will remain with Oblivion when Skyrim launches, but I think more mods get seen and played with the long waits we have for this series, and that the huge overhauls the developers provide us with in the new games are worth the wait. A new release every 2 years... doesn't really sound that appealing to me. 4 or 5 is about right I think.

The problem with your logic here is that WAY more people play these games on consoles than they do on PC. Consoles are where most of the money's at, and mods aren't available on consoles... It's not wise to make your main money source angry and impatient...

If I had my way Bethesda would ship the Fallout IP to a different developer and focus solely on The Elder Scrolls. That's not gonna happen though... Maybe Bethesda could continue growing, split their development group in half, and work on Fallout and The Elder Scrolls simultaneously...

A thread about this already?

Wow >.< Why can't people be happy that we've had Skyrim announced?!

In any case, it's still going to get quite a bit of activity I reckon.

I'd like Summerset Isle to be honest, or High Rock.
Mainland Morrowind would be quite cool as well, but that's my bias towards Dunmer showing.

It was the same thing with Oblivion from what I remember. People were already talking about "Lets have a Blackmarsh expansion" by this time.

But yeah, I agree. Those two places sound perfect for me.

Hello there! I would like to say some wishes i have.

I would like to first say how usefull a slowfall potion in morrowind was! It really helps a thief/assasin type character. When on the run from the guards, just jump of the wall with a slowfall potion in effect to safley land and escape! :) I was a little sad when oblivion came out that it wasent there. Though you could train you acrobatics to high level and land safley anyway. This by my opinion breaks the RP because i want it to be somewhat realistic. Anyone shouldnt be able to land safely on the ground from 10meters height.. And worse jump over walls, whats the point in having walls then? of course jumping OVER walls in oblivion could not happen.

My seccond point have I already spoken about some, RPG. I like to roleplay my charakters and it would be nice to have better NPC interaction. Also Npc to Npc interaction, not just that "HEY, whats up with you?" - "I saw a mudcrab the other day...." :P I would like to have some conversations and interactions like a hand shake. It would light up the game Rp wise. To not see Npc's as Npc's but an other charakter. Another thing is that they may do simple things as put on a hood when its raining, i feel poor for those Oblivion Npc's sometimes :P

Third point is short, more weapons! :) why on earth did they remove axe skill and spears? Crossbows, Throwing stars and such..

Thanks for reading my thoughts. I will be happy for any comments and if you guys have similar thoughts, please letme know :)

give it about 3 or more years for the tech to catch up, and we can have something like this

all of tamriel, with more landmass than great Britain- we could even go bigger than that ( http://www.youtube.c...h?v=SeoT_cz2nC0 )
every city as large as city's were depicted in assassins creed.
tesselation, awesome textures and perfect animation
a REAL particle system (dynamic smoke, and maybe water)
lifelike ai

but most of all-

we could have some kind of epic plot concerning all of tamriel. the empire has failed right? what if we could build each nations trust, form alliances, wage war, form strategys, betray entire nations. raise citys?

for starters- the player could unite the dumner people (who are refugees due to morrowind being invaded). then unite the nords. then get the nords and dumner to attack morrowind and combine morrowind with skyrim with both nords and dumner being equal in everything. a counter attack from argonia may be likely, so the player may choose to be an ambasodor/general of either the dumnords, the argonains provided nobody knows who the player is, or even do something else entireley like getting elsywere to attack argonia .

the player could try to go for anarchy- they could break up the bonds between valenwood and summerset and put those in a civil war, while getting hammerfell to attack both countrys. then the player go necromancer on their asses and attack all 3 parties with an army of undead. maybe even start a war with another necromancer such as the king of worms (i refuse to believe the mages guild questline in oblivion is canon)

after this the player could help the dumnords reclaim the war ravaged land easily. (high rock is only small, so a diplomatic relation should be easy) and set up a new empire.

of course- the game will remain a first person rpg of immense detail
with more detail than daggerfall, skyrim and morrowind put together

For Elder Scrolls VI, I hope we enter Black Marsh. According to the lore, it probably now includes some of what is now the mainland Morrowind, so we could expect to see a huge landmass.

I would love to run around the Argonian homeland serving the Argonian Royal Court.

I would like to see the Aldmeri Dominion as a whole.(That's what it's called right?)

As after the fall of the Empire Valenwood and Summerset Isles became the Aldmeri Dominion. It would be nice to see Empire relations between those provinces and the Empire.

Hmm... I will be very interested by exploring High Rock (and (re)discovering the region of Daggerfall in a next-gen version) or Black Marsh (this swampy province could have lots of design potential...), or why not the Morrowind mainland (without Vvardenfell, which was destroyed by the events occurred before the storyline of TES V: Skyrim) in TES VI... :)

I would like a game set in the Summerset Isles, or mabye somehow in Akavir, if that's possible.
One thing i would reallly like to see in a TES game, though, would be the whole world... like in Arena, but way bigger and more realistic. I doubt it would be easy to make something like that today and make it run like Oblivion, but I get a feeling that someday there would be better tech suited for that. They could take the maps from Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion and eventually Skyrim, and make them have better graphics, make them a little bigger (if possible) and then put them in the map of the world. Then, make the other provinces from scratch. Make it so creautures are only in their native areas as well. Also, they could make it so you could explore the world like Oblivion and Morrowind and such (basically, on foot, although this would take an insane amount of time).

I know making a game like this will not be easy, and I KNOW that it will take a long-a** time, but I have no doubt that sometime in the future, we'll have better tech for this. :obliviongate:

I would like to see the home of the orcs to be honest, the mountains would be superb for views and I imagine epic huge castle citys built on perilious mountainsides like in fantasy art would be their home.
A orc invasion for a main quest would be pretty neat.

Hey, maybe Elder Scrolls VI will be called Eye of Argonia! And set in Black Marsh.

It's kind of hard to top a battle against a dragon-god, so I don't know if a sequel following the aftermath of Skyrim would really feel right. Tamriel's future is dim - the empire is but a shadow of its former self, and we've completely screwed up the cosmos on several occasions already. Morrowind is out of commission, and the Dunmer may never return to the militaristic nor cultural greatness they ever had before. It's amazing how in the course of the past four games, spanning only several decades, we've already seen major alterations in the status quo of Tamriel as it was known for the past few millennia. I don't know if I want to see what happens after the confrontation with Alduin. Perhaps it could be left open to interpretation, or touched upon with some more novels (I'd love Bethesda to branch out with more TES merchandise), but as it stands I don't know if the games can be pushed much further into the future before losing their charm.

In my personal opinion, I think it'd be amazing if Bethesda were to begin a new story arc, away from the woes of the third era and the plight of the Septims, set during the second era. Really, there's just so much lore there to be expanded upon. This is probably primarily skewed on account of TES: Redguard, but I personally believe there wasn't a more dynamic and enthralling time in Tamriel's history than during the second era. From the formation of the mages' guild and the wars in High Rock, to the fall of the Akaviri potentate, and ultimately the military campaigns of Tiber Septim, it was a truly romantic era.

I think it'd be great if future TES games took a step back and took place in an earlier time - we know what happens in the future, but there's still so much to be discovered about the past. We'd get to see legends, like Galerion and Tiber Septim himself, at the peak of their powers.

I disagree, I think the future of the series is shaping up to become really interesting. The Empire had it's time, and now we get to see what will happen when it's gone, or at least a pitiful shell of it's former self. I look forward to seeing what the Thalmor and An-Xileel are planing to do, or have done by Skyrim's time. There are so many more things the series can do now that the provinces aren't "united" by the Empire anymore.

The confrontation with Alduin will indeed be hard to top, and I for one hope they don't try to. Instead of focusing on yet another apocalyptic event, Bethesda should center the next game's plot around politics, or something less of a huge deal than the end of the world.

Would be cool to have Elsweyr and Valenwood combined neither are very big, but together they are about the size of Skyrim. I would also love to see Black Marsh at some point, though I doubt there will ever be a game centered around Argonians, maybe as DLC.

Perhaps a violent bid for power from several factions? Or an Akaviri/Thrassian/Pyandonean Invasion? Those aren't necessarily end of the world scenarios, but they're extremely big scenarios and they're not the same type of thing over and over.

They are probably already working on ES6. They usually start working on the next one when the last one nears the end of production (which by now I'm sure that is has). Unless they are going to concentrate on Fallout 4 next who knows. We barely know anything about Skyrim, so who knows what will happen further down the series. For now I am just curious to see how good or bad Skyrim will turn out. I hope it will be more like Morrowind and less like Oblivion, I was not a big fan of Oblivion.

They're still developing Skyrim... if it was done enough for them to start on it's sequel already they'd bump up the release date.

They've had another game in pre-production for a while now, and that's probably Fallout 4. When development on Skyrim ends, they'll focus on Fallout 4 while also working on TES VI on the side. That'll stay in pre-production until Fallout 4 is done, and the cycle will continue.

Another vote here for Valenwood. I'm most excited to see how the huge migrating tree-cities work. Some of them have rooted in place, but the majority of the like city-states migrating around a particular region. One minute, it's here, the next, you come back and it's moved itself miles away. I don't know why that sounds both exciting and hilarious to me...

Bethesda has the ability to work on two games at once providing they have staggered developement and chances are pre-production work on Skyrim started when work on Oblivion was finished. Given the gap between Oblivion and Fallout 3, and Fallout 3 and Skyrim, even if Bethesda devoted all of their resources to Elder Scrolls games they still couldn't crank them out on a yearly basis.

I wouldn't mind a FONV type game to bridge the gap between Elder Scrolls titles but that's a tricky proposition unless it's developed by one of their sister-studios.

I actually woul dprefer them to devote a Fixed team to Elder scrolls all time , to have at least couple or 3 expansion per year till the next , so the wait coul dbe filled , Its really boring to wait 5 years among a tes and the other its just too much ...

Do you think some of the newly acquired game studios could/ should be given the chance to make games in the Elder Scrolls Universe. The team making Brink seems to be doing a good job with the Parkour aspect and maybe that could translate into a Thief/Acrobat type game(Emil Pagliurulo came from the Thief series I believe) Perhaps the Eye of Argonia.

There is so much depth of lore that it would make an excellent back drop for many types of games not just RPGs.

An Elder Scrolls MMO would ruin everything. Hell no.

I would also love to see a TES-game using the entire Tamriel map, allthough that's kinda unrealistic, but you never know.

I would love to see Valenwood as well. Or maybe Summurset Isle - it feels so exotic and different in many ways.
All though, ever since I went to Solstheim for the first time I've wanted the next TES-game to take place in Skyrim... so yeah. I'm looking forward to TES V... alot :)

I want to go Valenwood and Elsweyr more than anything. I want somewhere that has the Alienworld feel to it like Morrowind did. These human provinces are just to... normal. Maybe a game set in Valen/Elsweyr or Black Marsh? The Summerset Isles would be awesome to.
