Official: Beyond Skyrim - TES VI. #6

Just got a semi-cool plot idea: K, so basically the Thalmor reveal their master plan to pull a Hitler and "purify" Tamriel by either wiping out, of driving out all non-elf races. In doing so they betray the khajiit, and instead win over the dark elves. Hunted by the Thalmor and hated by the Empire, the khajiit are forced to go to the argonians for help. The Argonians see all the conflict as the perfect opportunity to gain a massive amount of land. (Due to all the troops leaving their homelands to join the fight) And accept the khajiit's plea for help on one condition: That they form an army with the argoni And thus the three great armies were formed ( Men vs. Mer vs. Beasts ) and the stage would be set for the greatest war in Elder Scrolls history.

Edit: Okay, maybe not that specific scenario. But the general concept of a gigantic, continent-wide Man vs. Mer vs. Beast war would still be pretty cool, right?

I know it doesn't, although neither does sailing really, I've never actually roleplayed a sailor or pirate type character before. I don't see why they need a hook, really. Can't the hook just be big amazing open world full of people and wonders and things to do, like it was with Morrowind? I've seen the ad for Morrowind, it doesn't have any special feature it's promoting except it's world. If anything the hook could be storyline related more than a character's ability, like it was with Oblivion. I don't want another "You are the special guy with unique powers", I just want to be a rogue, mage or warrior in my huge world.
Bethesda's definitely going to want to "one-up" Skyrim by showing off something about the game that is a step in a whole new direction. They want the series to evolve, it seems, not just settle down with something that works (even very well).

Besides, I just want them to make a boat game. It would certainly take TES in a new direction.

And as for being the hero who saves the world? I don't care about that stuff. They could make excellent gams without any of these 'superhero' story lines. So many great journeys to be had in a land in which you are not the center.

That'd be quite fateful. Very interesting. The War of the Three People. The War of Tamriel...

I think having a the next game set in High Rock and Hammerfell would be good since High Rock is rather small and Hammerfell has some desert area which is a nice change from the snowy area of Skyrim.
I also wouldn't mind going to Elsweyr since it has deserts as well and some jungles.

What if instead of a conflict in the next TES game there was a natural disaster? I′m thinking massive meteorites, earthquakes or floodings.

How would that work into the games main questline? Or would that not be associated with the main questline.

It could easily fit into the MQ the way I see it. A pending catastrophy is at hand and someone needs to sort it out.

How would they sort it out though, is it because of a Daedra or something? I am not trying to put down your idea I am just confused, it would be a nice change though.

I′m no game dev and this idea just popped into my head. I′m kinda tired that there always has to be a conflict, can′t there be something else?
Maybe it′s hard to make these kind of games without having some sort of conflict though but why not work a natural disaster in it? Like you suggested, daedra or necromancers are responsible for summoning earthquakes but no one knows that right off the bat?

Or something must be done to stop a major natural catastrophy. Not an enemy but an event like meteors/meteorites threatening all life on Tamriel, an event that has been predetermined by universal law and a bunch of seers have caught up on that?

I don′t know and I′m not that good at explaining what I mean, but something along those lines maybe?

Well if it is something predetermined then it is possible that the main quest could involve the Divines maybe and you eventually meet them to stop the disaster.

It would be really great to see the series turn on to a less violent path, a path with more problem solving, which I can see being abundant in this idea. In past ES games, you can't deny that half the time you're killing things or stealing from them. What a brilliant chance to orient the skills to things like climbing, running, speaking, exploring, flying, building, who knows what else, things that would help prevent some natural disaster. Even the magics could be channeled with this in mind. The game could feature many races coming together to face a common issue that is due to nature, not a being that can be killed.
I know this sounds like it would be impossible to implement, but look at games like From Dust! That is an excellent idea and could be sweet with the RPG adventure element of TES.

do you think that if the next TES is in that part of tamril it should be done with BOTH provinces (valenwood and elyswer)??!!!

after reading dance in the fire I can't imagine valenwood and Elyswer as seperate lands....

the trouble between the kahjit and Bosmer, the lush jungle/dry desert contrast...etc

what do you think???

ive been thinking this, it would be an awesome as [censored] game. so much good [censored] and cool places to put in

i just hope they don't choose hammerfell we don't have the proper technology for its giant cities and you know the next one will have deserts. Elyswer has few cities and you basically don't have to worry about distant land in its southern half and all of valenwood being jungles and [censored]

also hammerfell must have mad piracy and ship battles which also needs more technology to make awesome

I would like more underwater life and treasures to find and more gameplay utility for breathing underwater. Sailing in real time would be cool like the others already suggested, I'm excited about Risen 2 Dark Waters and the piratey theme but Bethesda can top that with more open world and open seas where you can sail wherever you want, hire a crew, board and sink enemy ships, attack villages from sea (yes some destructible environment would be nice) and chose to be a sort of villain, screw the save the world black and white rails.

I know what you mean. In Skyrim it seemed like pretty much every quest had violence forced into it for no apparent reason. To the point where most of them were just increasingly elaborate excuses as to why your character needs to fight his way through a random dungeon. Don't get me wrong, I love a good stabbing as much as the next guy. But after 50+ generic "Go here, Kill them, Get this" quests in a row, I just wish there was a bit of variety, y'know?

Exactly, and you see it in nearly every other game. If Bethesda is trying to make the next game fresh, they should think about making more creative solutions to problems other than http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KL5yhZIacTE

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo what a boring province I hope not they should do something unique and daring like Black Marsh.

Gamebryo would completely fail with that province i think. For Argonians jumping from tree to tree and huge worms, swamp monsters etc. it will need excellent animations.... and Gamebryo.. Well, yeah :/

Edit: well i suppose it would need bethesda to put a lot of time into it to perfect.

I hope no matter where the next TES goes they have enough time to mess with id software's new engine and make it TES'able, because id software are really good at engines and Bethesda are really good at open worlds, I think it would be a shame to work under the same roof and not inspire one another. Black Marsh is indeed one hell of a demanding place to bring to life and I thought for the next generation of consoles it could be a good showcase title with all that water&vegetation stuff.

Yeah they need a new engine, really. The 'new' one is slightly better than Oblivion's and all the tiny cities closed inside cells are a real downer.

I hope the next gen consoles come out soon enough so they can make Fallout 4 a release (or close) title and then have a lot of time to get used to that hardware and make it shine with TES VI. It svcks not being able to use current gen technology just because you design for 6 year old hardware.

The engine used is not as important as the programmer's skills, what he's able to do with the engine. I think theey need to work harder on animation and motion capture, the Creation engine could have alot more potential than what we see in Skyrim.

I agree. The engine is not as important as the programmer imho. It′s like a good car, if the driver isn′t skilled then the car isn′t of much use anyway
