Official: Beyond Skyrim - TES VI #7

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 8:03 am

By the time TES VI is released, standards in video games will really grow up when it comes to things like virtual world and stuff.
I would consider that all the more reason not to do two provinces at once. The current scale is so small that frankly it looks ridiculous when you really stop to look at it. "Lakes" the size of swimming pools, covering what's technically a hundred miles by jogging for a couple minutes. Standards MAY increase (wouldn't be so certain), but how realistic a development team can make a landmass look, over how much area, in how much time, is much harder to predict. Will they be able to make an area that's just as detailed but twice as large in the same development time? I don't know, but I'd rather have one better-looking province than two absurdly tiny ones.

No, it would not.

You forget that they will make at least one more FO game before new TES.
Also, that is ''problem'' which all games share, so it's actually not a valid argument.
If Bethesda starts developing TES VI as soon as they finish FO 4 and all of it's DLCs, then development will start from at least 4-5 years from now.

We've already been there (Daggerfall).
I didn't think about them making another FO my bad. And I in Daggerfall we didn't go all over High Rock and Hammerfell it was only a small portion.

No!
Why?
Read the lore!

If they are going to make a game which includes Dwemer, then they should take that concept and make TES Adventures II.
Still, I don't know how good idea even that would be since we already know what happened to them.

I've read the lore but I think it's time for some new playable races such as the akaviri races or the other beast races like the Imga or the sload

If anything, I'd love to see Bethesda take a bit more time and care into their next game. Not saying they didn't do a fantastic job with Skyrim, but I really want them to grab some ideas from this forum, or other fan places and really nail the next title. Even if it's in a place I have little interest in, I want them to make me love the game regardless (I probably would anyway, that's what happened with Skyrim.). I'd love to see them base ideas off of awesome Skyrim mods, such as seasonal changes, special boss fights, etc etc.

I would like the next game to have:
-children of all the races especially the Argonians
-seasons and celebrations
-adventurers who are doing guild quests and dungeon crawls as you do it, not all dead and with convenient journals around; some of the guild quests should be trials like the thieves guild starter in Oblivion
-transport boats the player can sail, the real time transport not like silt strider-load screen-bang destination, that sounds like 2003
-a radiant ai that keeps track of all previous conversations for each npc so they wouldn't repeat the same line over and over again. I [censored] know you work at Belethors, you told me 100 times already and besides we are inside Belethor's as we speak. Let the npcs speak to me only if: A) it's the first time we meet; B] they have something NEW and IMPORTANT to tell me; C) I stop in front of them and make eye contact for a few seconds.

5 years passed between Oblivion release and Skyrim. That's a long time, and you want to wait even longer?!

Yes, unfortunately those 5 years are not full time development of TES V, they chose to work on Fallout 3 as well. That's why I'd like different teams to work on the two series, both communities would get better games.

Elsweyr all the way. I'd love to explore desert and jungle. This would also be a great contrast to the storm-lashed, cold province of skyrim. Not only for players, even for the developers. It might feel a bit different.

Think of all the epic enemies that could live in either the jungle or desert...

Think of all the skooma....

THINK OF ALL THE KHAJIIT....

I hope next time we get hair and cloth physics, tesselation and all the technology goodies that are available at that time. Go for the best hardware available, and then scale down to the weaker.

Like many others who posted, I think the next TES should go south to the beast races lands. Focus on a more localized story. Screw the Empire or the big picture wars, I want a story loaded with local politics. The world can take abreak from being saved by the hero, make a game where the hero is desperately trying to save his/her own ass and/or soul in a very intriguing and very original and very personal journey.

I somewhat agree with this I am tired of saving the world, from one enemy if they are going to make you save the world make it be from something like a natural disaster and we end up meeting one or all of the gods to find out what is going on.

I think the only way that would be a realistic possibility (for "a", anyway) would be for an RTS like "The Elder Scrolls: Total War", or "Tamriel: Total War" No, that's not a real game... yet. or they could do something like LOTR did with the "Battle For Middle Earth."

I think if Bethesda somehow got the Total War people involved, they could make a killer RTS set in The Elder Scrolls World.

Wow, I've never thought about having a TES RTS-style game. But thinking about it... I think that would be an amazing idea for a spin-off game!

The gods are natural disasters.

Okay, I like the Skyrim system of one politics plot and one magic/mythic one as your two "main quests."

I also think that, as I see it, the "Weird Tamriel" we see in Morrowind and Skyrim, the world of snow-whales (even extinct ones) and godly hearts and the Thalmor erasing Talos from the Mythic and such, is a lot more interesting than the "Comfortable Tamriel" of Daggerfall and Oblivion, for whatever virtues the latter had. And Skyrim especially proves that Weird Tamriel can be marketable. So please, in TESVI, wherever it may be, make it the sort of Tamriel where you walk like gods until they walk like you and it is a perfectly legitimate action for a man to stand on a wooden boat in Oblivion that is being flown by Sload-farts and shout at an Aldmeri spaceship made of mirrors to "get out of my way!" Because that's the Tamriel of Morrowind and Skyrim, and that's the Tamriel that made me a writer.

I would like a user interface that is very customizable. I want to be able to pick which feature is permanently displayed on screen and which not, with different opacity values for each, as opposed to setting an opacity value for the entire HUD. I'd also like to permanently have graphic representations (like in Oblivion) of all the buffs, magic and diseases affecting my character without browsing the menus. All customizable to be displayed or not and how transparent.

As for the races, I would like to see more weight put into the race choice. As I see it, there should be more pronounced racial traits, for instance have a specific perk tree for each race. The game should also have more specific content to offer for each race and (some of) the npcs should act like they know my race and that it matters to them. In other words, more racism, locked/unlocked content based on race, racial factions, race specific armor and weapons, race specific perks.

once thing that anoyyes me is whats going on with the tiger dragon in akavir? i was so sure that skyrim would be about that.

I second this. The race shouldn't become just a cosmetic choice. Add more depth and uniqueness to each of them.

I'd love for a game to take place in Alinor. It would be a perfect get away from Skyrim: warm, sunny, light, rainbows, crystals, ect. Racism and politics abound.

For gameplay, I'd like to see more emphasis on non-combat skills. Your persuasion skill should actually matter for more than a few quests. But of course you could bash you way through everything, which should work equally well. Also, give us something more than dungeon raids. Those are fun sometimes, but they are involved in way too many quests.

I'd love to play as a hero who becomes the turning point in the next Great War between the Aldmeri Dominion and the Empire - of course
with the opportunity to side with both.

Otherwise, I'd also like to see the Summerset Isles during the reign of the oppressive Thalmor
and take part in a resistance movement against the them OR to be able to side with them.

In both Skyrim and Morrowind we are the One - more magic version of Jet Li, so I'd like to be just a random person tangled into the elder scroll prophecy like in Oblivion - the events around him/her made that hero, not the predisposition that we can't know of.
When playing a RPG a person might want to fill in the past with their own imagination, and it's hard to include "dragon like feelings" into childhood to include whenever our hero had a hunch that he/she is the dragonborn or not.

I understand that in current console generation with DVD size we can't have all high textures and many models that have only cosmetic purposes, so I hope this will change in the future. I'd love to see more than a chicken, dog and a cow in the farms and 5 kinds of insects - instead of very specific ingredients they could have "insect's legs" or "feather" that doesn't point to the specific race of the animal. Also having more than one armor per level of advancement would be nice, with more variations - more than just one heavy armor for ebony or steel, and especially when it comes to weapons cause it's sad that there is only one kind of sword design of each kind.

I'd love to see more animations for each race and weapon. With weapons it could be that a sword could be swung differently than a axe or mace, or maybe even there could be a bit different animations between players with different level of specified perk. This also include magic, cause it would be much cooler if each spell could get a different hand gesture depending on school or level.
As for races it would be great for beast races to have more animalistic legs (and more) features. Beast races could only wear light armor on feet or have them modified, e.g. argonians wouldn't have covered their claws on feet.

Elsweyr?

Come on there's always good beach party's down south of Elsweyr at Topal Bay

On a more serious note

If Elsweyr was TES VI, we'd need something to top Dragons which is pretty hard (Unless you keep the dragon idea)
But if you ever played Shadow of the Colossus, there would be an idea. have those things buried under the sand for like 1000 years or so and of course "The Elder Scrolls have foretold" what ever reason they come up to kill humanity for.
I had an idea at first but it had flaws, that the Gods were mad at man and used the Colossus's to rid of them while the Hero can stop it and redeem man. and each Colossus had some significance to each one of the Gods (Ex : Colossus of Julianos)

That's just my random Idea, mainly I just wanna go to the Beach parties

Edit : Holy crap I didn't see this until i decided to look at a map of http://i39.tinypic.com/1z4z52w.png

Now my Idea can appeal to the lore
I think.
to that keeping the dragon idea: what if the last dragon(since they all didnt die in the end) would be in a cave or similar in Elsweyr(or whatever province the next takes place in) and it had some quest related to it?

For some reason i keep getting drawn towards Elswyr. Rainforests and desert badlands, monsters that could erupt from the sand beneath your feet, all the wierd different species of Khajit and of course...it's a huge Skooma fest.
