Official: Beyond Skyrim TESVI #40

Post » Sat Jul 12, 2014 1:42 am

This thread is for ideas and suggestions for future Elder Scrolls games, and to keep all the discussion in one series of threads.

We also have an official thread specifically for http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1502486-tes-vi-location-and-setting-speculation-7/ suggestions for future games.
Now that Skyrim has been released the number of suggestions and ideas for the next ES game are starting to show up. We have a long way to go before we get another ES game and all topics like this will be closed and either transferred or referred to this one.

Please keep any discussion of Skyrim in the correct forums.

Someone mentioned something about the face sculptor in the last thread. I just wanted to say that I think the face sculptor should give us access to changing the physical characteristics of our character, but leave changing our hairstyle, facial hair, and maybe even tattoos to another vendor. Someone who is accessible in several cities and offers their services for a fraction of the 1000 gold we pay now. I think its rather stupid to have to shell out 1000 gold to a face sculptor to get a new hairdo. Also, I always thought it would be cool to have your hair grow throughout gameplay. They could do it by tracking how many days its been since your last trim and then once you go to sleep after a certain threshold, your hair will grow longer.

Also, I've always been curious... why do threads have post limits?

They should really remove the essential characters. It kills the sandbox element of the game

Not necessarily remove them, but change how they work.

Instead of a character being immortal, they should only be immortal to NPC attack, but killable by the player.

Maybe something as follows?

NPC A is essential due to him being required for a quest. Random vampire attack doesn't kill him, just renders him unconscious.

Player attacks him, killing blow drives him to his knees (Much like in SKyrim) or renders him unconscious. A follow up attack kills him and is followed by a warning similar to Morrowind, (Threads of fate broken etc)

This would prevent deaths through accidental strikes during a fight for example.

Alternatively, just give us an actual toggle in the menu.

Either of these would be preferable. I suggest a system where any killing blow for essential characters opens a window warning it will sever an important quest line and you can choose yes or no for them to die.
