I was going to buy "Fallout - New Vegas" I've been pumped for the release giddy with excitement... but then I read this

http://www.vg247.com/2010/10/18/bethesda-announces-360-exclusive-new-vegas-dlc/

As a PS3 owner I cannot nor will I support Bethesda - I put up with type of BS when "Fallout 3" was released - where as a PS3 owner I was punished for buying "Fallout 3" on my console of choice. Never again. Never. I'm done. Way to fracture your fanbase Bethesda - I hope the 30 pieces of silver are at least real..

Dude, it will still be an awesome game. No need to throw it away just because you'll get the DLC a couple of months later than 360 users.

That's idiotic. If the Ps3/PC (If it's not also being released for PC) users get a different exclusive DLC, yeah, that's fine, but it isn't fair if they just give it to Xbawks users. Also, they're thinking about releasing DLC already?! The game hasn't even been released!

This guy's gonna have somethin' to say about it. >>> :ninja:

If you wish to discuss the availability of DLC there's a thread for that right here: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1121846-dlc-exclusive/

Let's keep this Official DLC Suggestion/Idea Thread #1 A home for DLC or added content suggestions shall we?

I can't say I have any bright ideas at this point, but as long as they don't take away my gear at the beginning only to have it unlock later on, I guess I'm good.

area 51 has to be done, after all the location the 50's theme of fallout, it's simply perfect.
An underground mine one would allso be kool, plus with a 'great gold rush' theme (prospectors etc) would be a fun addition with added fear of running around dark tunnels with monsters after you.

But one idea I've not seen here yet would be to go in to a 'world of tomorow' simulation. Basiclly you'd plug in to a computer and travel to a simulation of what pre-war scientists thought the future would have been like. But obviously once you get to this perfect world you'll soon learn that things arnt that perfect and the sytems a bit of a control freak, which you have to try and break out of. It'll be a great chance to take another visit to 50 sci-fi without having to do mothership zeta again. just imagine fallouts takes on the jettsons.....

I'm sure it was mentioned already, but I didn't feel like sifting through the posts.

I would like to go to Area-51 for a DLC or go to the Commonwealth.

Going to the commonwealth would be a great idea. Imagine Fallout: Operation London, Big Ben in ruins.

Or not?
Mothership Zeta/Operation Anchorage v.2?
Meaning: Dungeon crawler run and gun crap DLC.
Well, it is possible for them to be able to create a good story for it.
But I highly doubt it. (Although... it is Obsidian after all...)
Besides, A51 is just so over-obvious.
Rather have an area none of us would have thought of.

Going to the commonwealth would be a great idea. Imagine Fallout: Operation London, Big Ben in ruins.

And how would we go across a whole continent?

DLC NAME: The Capital War
Average Length: 8-10 hours
Description: The fight between the California Republic and the Brotherhood of Steel extends itself beyond the province of New Vegas. Using ingenious tactics, they have managed to infiltrate a large shipment of weapons heading down from Los Angeles, through Cuba and into the heart of Washington DC. You, the courier, are tasked with taking the fight to Washington DC, with a whole new area to explore. It has certainly changed in these few years, as you'll learn that the tide of post-post apocalyptica has spread. The player will have three new areas to explore; Los Angeles, Cuban Docking Bay and the entire province of a newly revamped Capital Wasteland. Complete with new towns, people and side-quests. In the Wasteland you'll have a choice to make on who you side with, the very last slithers of the Enclave, the NCR, the ghouls in the Underworld or the Brotherhood of Steel; all in a power struggle for the water purifier. Once complete, take the technology back to Vegas and see what becomes of it...
Price: $19.99 - big hefty expansion

If you want to go to Capital Wasteland again you could always just pop in the Fallout 3 disc. >_>
No need to have a DLC for an area we have an entire game for.

I agree since either way you get the dlc anyway. Also you still playing through the main game or haven't done all the side quest, why rush a get the dlc, it will still be there even a year after it's release.

Yea I know it was right after I posted it I realized it. Though you got agree it is a good setting for future fallout games. An idea, might have mentioned it earlier, is another dlc based on the resource war like anchoorage. E.g simulation where the pc has to try to take out chinesse nuclear silos before they launch, but of course failed, not the best example but something like that.

DLC Name: Hail to the Commonwealth
Description: Based around the Commonwealth faction far to the north-east, scout scientists of theirs have unearthed the lost installation 'Area 51'. In scouring the facility, however, they've not had the least bit of luck since; with androids going rogue, and teams going missing deep within the find. The player finds their way to Area 51 by way of an alarm system that he picks up as a radio signal, with increasing severity and clarity the closer they get to the source, making the first quest to be simply finding the place. Once there, they have the opportunity to help the scientists recover their lost research teams deep within the facility, no crawling with blind underground dwelling mutants of an unknown source. Various sidequests would also detail an extended Replicated Man quest in which the player is charged with identifying rogue Androids through speech options and either choosing to help them, or take them down for a bounty. Inspirations would be Blade Runner, Alien, and HP Lovecraft among others.

A DLC In San Francisco would be very interesting. The first Fallout games were intuitive as well as interesting but lets face it. They were kind of stale. The new Fallout games are fresh with beautiful graphics that is what Bethesda already knows by re doing places from Fallout 1,2. I live in San Francisco so personally I believe it would be a great idea.

AAHhhhhhh, it would be awesome to go back to DC. I know its lame and weve all been there and done that, but it would be like a whole other game with all of NV's stuff. Just a thought.

Actually it would be the same game as fallout 3 with some improvements.
I already own Fallout 3, don't intend to buy it again only cause it's been polished some more.

We are given a book that we have to take across country, but we are stricken blind and have to rely on our other senses to make it across country. We run into a town that the ruler of that town wants that book and will stop at nothing to get it, but we are instructed to not give it to that man and keep traveling east, until we find a vault in the capital wasteland where the book needs to be.

I haven't read all the previous suggestions so if the next isn't original from me sorry.

Also something to do with Alcatraz.

Yeah this pisses me off to no end. I think Microsoft needs to stay out of the game developers pockets. I already preordered the game on Steam before I read this, it would have almost been a deal breaker for me. I get tired of being treated like a 2nd class citizen because I choose better graphics and a mouse and keyboard over a controller. (Not Flaming I don't hate the Xbox or Xbox users, we are all gamers, and all love this game) I hate Microsoft and what they have done to the gaming industry requiring people to pay arbitrary amounts of money to use the console they purchased. I think this shows the true colors of Bethesda and Obsidian, they don't care about their gamer just how much money they can make. I don't know why they would want to put off making money. Basically they are exclusively waiting to make money by postponing the dlc for PC and PS3.

Sorry for the off topic rant, but it really grinds my gears.

Commonwealth seems awesome, but it also seems too far to be practical for the purpose of FNV. All the DLC locations in FO3 were close-ish to DC (the pitt was probably the farthest and anchorage doesn't count since it was past history), so it stands to reason that they would be in FNV as well. The grand canyon could be an intersting area. It's not wicked close but it's within a reasonable distance to give the player an excuse for going there. I think we can all safely assume that area 51 WILL be a DLC at some point, whether we ask for it or not, it's just so obvious, between the alien angle or just a military research/weapons bunker angle.

One thing I think would be cool to have is a special vending machine that resets your stats and skills plus perks allowing to redistribute them ideal for players who are doing a ultimate play though over 100 hours an more etc.
