Official Fallout 4 Location Suggestions

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 8:06 pm

That would be awesome! I would like Boston personally. If I had to pick just one city. Lots of history, awesome architecture.

Being from Bean Town myself and now living in Hawaii I would be tickled to see either appear in the series. However, in the interest of advancing the universe's story, my Vote would be Switzerland... consider the following:

1. Swiss banks contained a gigantic amount of money. A resource war like the one between the States and China would be highly profitable to weapons dealers and those who FUNDED the weapons dealers.

2. The entire country was prepared against WWIII... bridges set with sapping charges, massive vaults built to house their military and civilian populations. Their neutrality would also guarantee that the Nukes only destroyed everything above ground.

3. A country that has that much money made from weapons trade and war would make sure that they had the best technology at their disposal... and stored in their Vaults.

4. Did I mention how much money they had ...

5. Being in Switzerland the story could tap into so many other rich references. Heck, if the threat of Communism was bad what about the rise of a Fourth Reich? ...Could be an allusion to the "4" in Fallout 4. Makes me wonder what was actually stored in those Swiss Banks right after WWII.

6. The tech could be that much cooler... compare a Chevy to a BMW or Mercedes... who do you want making your powerarmor?

7. Fighting Nazi's... need I say more? Ok... I'll say more... Imagine F.E.V. in the hands of the Nazi's?

Mothership Zeta opens the door to the reality that humans aren't the smartest animal around. And where-as the Enclave developed power armor that is top notch, the inability to make more of it en-mass will spell doom to humanity in the face of a full on Alien invasion. Given the manufacturing skill and scale of the Swiss and Germans, the BOS and elements of the Enclave might send operatives there to secure the resources to manufacture these weapons and gain the upper hand in World Supremacy.

One last note: Where-ever the designers in their God-like form decide to set the story I really hope they include a chainsaw...it's a style thing.

Being from Michigan, I would totally dig that.

From Northwest Ohio myself ... It would be totally awesome to see the Motor City in a Fallout title. Good Call!

If Bethesda included a world map alla Fallout 1 and 2 then there could be many of the locations in the Northeast in one big map. All the above suggestions about the Northeast have sounded interesting.

i think a new fallout should be in vancouver canada it would be such a perfect set up you have the fraser running all through metro vancouver and the lower mainland theres so many towns and cities in the lower mainland( the are all around vancouver)like surrey, richmond, langley, delta, portmoody, white rock, chilliwack, abbotsford, new west minster, hope, maple ridge and so many more i cant think of right now. you could make the map huge go as far north up to whistler along the coast and sea to sky though the mountians filled with mutated bears, deers and cougars. you could go down south hrough the border with the states and go to seattle and the areas around it at the peace arch border cross. You could have a ferry to victoria where the parliment buildings are and bushart gardens adn yuo could go through the huge mountain forest to the east to as far away as alberta crossing many cities like osoyoos and penticton filled with grapoe vineyards see if that still running and osoyoos lake and the resorts and the okanagon lake with the ogopogo inside of it.

Vancouver doesnt have a metro system underground so you dont have spend so much time killing ghouls and travling the metro we have a sky train. We ahve Science world wich could be filled with tech , GM place or rogers arena now its the hockey rink where canucks play, the lions vancouvers football team, the PNE( pacific national exhibit) and playland wich is [censored] theme parks. The 2010 olympis were here we have local ski hills, the building with the sails i forget its name, all of downtown to explore and vancouver is known as hollywood north. theres lakes, mountains, cities, forests, trails the ocean yuo could ahve mutated killer whales.

You could show how the US annexed us have some uprising for the story

if fallout is eventualy going to do a canadian city dont do toronto and never do anything with quebec

theres more but its hard to explain when nobody probaly knows what you talking about unless your canadian or live here in the lowermainland<

sorry for bad spelling its still summer here

I'm not sure that Bethesda will do anything but the United States, the original creators of Fallout said that they felt America was the only place they would put a Fallout game because of the references to the 1950's vision of the future.

While Arizona might have many people offended right now for political reasons, I think that Phoenix would make a great location to see blown to hell... maybe even the people I have previously mentioned would agree with that. Alaska would also be an interesting backdrop to a Fallout game. Lastly, I love the Idea of a military base. Ft. Drum, NY gets my vote since I was stationed there and I know that it and some of the surrounding areas could definitely be put to good use. Think about it... lots of woodland, 30 minutes from the Canadian border, plenty of places both on and off post to toy around with. well, that's all I got.

I posted this before, but figured I should say it here; Central Texas.

Central Texas boasts the largest U.S. Army base with several cities around it. That being said, there is still plenty of areas that are open fields. The amount of cattle in the area would make for a great Brahmin (or another new cattle like animal) trade area.

Also, considering the fact that it is the largest military base, there could be a new faction Or perhaps the Enclave? They would fit right in at this area, considering their love of abandoned armed forces bases. Further more, considering the amount of hospitals in the area, there could be a big quest involving them. There are four, one on the base, one near the base, and two on the other side of town. Recently, the largest hospital took over the other two that are off base, but they still function as separates. Anyways, I felt it as a good idea because of the base itself.

The BoS (or again, a new faction) could use the hospitals as bases. I would also like to see a civil war between the smoothskins and the Ghouls. That would give the PC a great chance to choose sides. And maybe give the PC a way to become a Ghoul? That would be fun. My good character, Katrina, let the Ghouls into Tenpenny Tower and over all, never killed anyone other than a hostile feral. My evil character, Hoenheim, however is a Ghoul exterminator. I haven't gotten him to Underworld yet, as I just started him but when I do, I will clean the place out.

Sorry for the stray from the topic there. But anyways, what do you guys think?

Yeah central Texas would work great, too bad nobody that isn't from here really gets what it's like cause you kinda can't.

Texas? Yes. Central Texas? Err.... Not so much. I live in Waco myself and trust me, it isn't half as interesting as it seems. Plus I already know the area around Waco would be portrayed as a cultist's domain and that joke is a dead horse constantly beaten.

I've always seen Houston as the go to area for a Texas Fallout. Houston itself is an interesting location with history. The coast line around Galveston is ripe with the oil industry, the very industry that caused the bombs to fall in the first place. It would be fun to explore those ruins and learn about the corruption behind such an industry. I've always imagined Galveston as one of those Alaskan towns bought out by the oil companies. It would be filled to the brim with old tech that scavengers would fight over for. Then you have the outskirts such as Sugarland and even a few of outside towns like Bryant/College Station which has one of the largest colleges in the US. If you need some "cheeriness" to this bleak landscape, there is always the ruins of all those coastal/ tourist towns along the Gulf Coast.

Ronto - Canada is mentioned a lot in the fallout world, but never explored. It was metion by Ashur to be a place of great power. We start the game as a solider in a group known as the New Enclave, that broke off of the east coast sector. They fled to Canada hoping they could renew the Enclaves' name of evil, and restore good. When they arrived in Ronto they saw horrible things going on in the streets. It's time for the New Enclave to clean it up.

So far, this is the best one I have seen yet, imo.

Antarctica has nothing in it, and playing in a Normal city that was built post war would be boring.
Australia would be good, but when I think of Fallout, I think of post war America. Not some European/Asian/Pacific Island nation. They are fun to learn about in game and in cut scenes , but would be a lot less fun actually play in. It would take away from the Fallout feel.

Texas is good because, like the person I quoted said, there is a good mix of open space, city, and a massive military base. It would even be a good way to reintroduce the Enclave after the defeats they have had. They could use it as a HQ. There would also be the Super mutants that are remnants of the Masters army as well as Brotherhood and Ceaser's legions soldiers. It's a melting pot of the Factions of all the Fallouts and would be loads of fun to see.

Add in a new and better engine, and you have one sick game.

While I agree with that, and am sure Bethesda definitely will not move the franchise to other countries or continents, such as Europe or Africa, I do think Canada wouldn't be considered breaking the mold, since in the Fallout universe, Canada was annexed, essentially becoming part of the United States.

Also I doubt we'll be seeing Texas again, since it was in Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel. I know the game svcked, but I think much like Fallout: Tactics certain parts of the game's history will be vaguely considered canon whilst the most part of the games will never truly be considered canon.

Any part of Canada, or perhaps Russia. Those two would be very interesting, because:

1) I live in Canada. SO it would be awesome.

2) Winter would be interesting as we are all used to deserts, and destroyed urban environments.

3) Russia is VERY large and was (I think) allied with the U.S. so they would MOST LIKELY have some sort of Powered Armor.

OR

A remake of Van Buren, but with the Fallout 3 and New Vegas engine.
Or perhaps something BEFORE the war, maybe the United States invading China, and the annexation of Canada (I would hate this, as I am Canadian), and just fights against other countries. As for exploration, you could go on runs through parts of cities, fighting hostile armies.

I think San Francisco could be a pretty good place.

Since it's bordered by water on most sides, it would be pretty easy to make borders for the map that wouldn't break immersion. The hilly topography would create for some good varied landscape, and there are plenty of iconic landmarks in the area that Beth could use (Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, Alcatraz, Coit Tower, Candlestick Park, San Francisco Zoo, Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf, Transamerica Pyramid, Treasure Island, SFO, Chinatown, etc.) not to mention distinct districts that would make for helpful subregions. Plus the city is full of all sorts of people, and as a port city it would make sense for apocalypse survivors to want to head there, so you could have a higher population of survivors in confined areas, which means more NPCs and therefore more content. And for people concerned about a game taking place in an ovrly dense city, there are plenty of areas in and around SF that are open and expansive. They could even potentially expand out to surrounding cities, towns, and suburbs (Oakland, Berkeley, etc.) that are on the other side of the bay.

Well, San Francisco was already in one of the first two games, and I doubt Bethesda wants to use locations from the previous games, especially locations that are so far west.

Besides, living in San Francisco myself, I can say that if Bethesda perfectly recreated the terrain of San Francisco, it would be a major pain to walk around in. The hills in this city are absolutely crazy. It's not so bad when you get away from the downtown area, but the northeast area of the peninsula is nothing but steep hills wherever you go. Hell many of the hills have stairs on the sidewalks just so you can get up them. In a game, it would be like climbing up and down a small mountain every time you wanted to go somewhere. Besides, while San Francisco is definitely a nice looking city, it is far too densely packed to create an interesting game in, imho.

While I'd like post apocalypic games in other countries I feel that Fallout belongs in US, or atelast North America.

List of places I'd be more than happy with for FO4:
1. Denver. There would be quite a bit of content here; it would make sense becasue a number of vaults would have been located in the Rockie Mountains. Coloarado springs could be a location (it's right next to Norad) It's a key city in the midwest and probably would've been nuked. It's also my hometown :)

2. New York.

3. San Fransisco

4. Los Angles

5. Toronto

I really want Fallout 4 to be the Commonwealth, which I'm assuming is New England.

This^

Or Canada, Southern most America (Texas, New Mexico, etc.), Russia or maybe China.

I'd like to see Fallout in New York. See the skyscraqers wrapped with big kudzu vines and stuff. Mutated jungle animals from zoo maybe. Maybe the climate would've changed more warmer after nuclear war.

In FO3 there was a slide in the slide show about USA annexing Canada. So I think it would be cool to hear about that story.

The other major location that I think would be amazing is New York City. Common, NYC? That would be epic!
