I would like to see the next Fallout game in New York because there will more urban combat involved and it wil be nice to see how Central Park has changed after the war.

New York City. Lots of landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, the new World Trade Center (will be completed in 2013), the Empire State Building, Central Park. Of course a lot of the city would be destroyed but there could still be skyscraqers standing.

They could also have the New England Commonwealth in the same game. Look like there could be factions like the Institute and the Railroad, which were mere footnotes in Fallout 3. The Institute is supposed to have lots of advanced technology as it was once MIT. They could salvage the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Boulder_Dome concept Van Buren for the Institute near Boston, except it would be a working facility instead of the chaos it would have been in Van Buren.

There's not much I could find on the wiki about that region it would be interesting to see how they could develop it.

Florida would also be nice, it would be more tropical instead of desert, beaches, the Cape Canaveral launch site. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Mutant_crocodiles, anyone?

Come on. Video Games had too much of New York. Take it somewhere else. And if you make new york when you have to go around the metro tunnels even more when DC.

The next fallout should not go forward in time. I think F:NV is great, the best game of the series IMO. But, but... we're going too far into the future. F:NV is really pushing the line between post-nuclear america and some 3rd world country simulation.

I say Fallout 4 (or whatever) needs to go BACK in time to sometime within 50 years after 2077. It could be anywhere, just don't go forward in time anymore. We're starting to lose the "Fallout feel". I DO NOT think we've lost it, just that we will if the series continues to go forward in time.

That is all.

I disagree, Going forward in time shows how much the world is advancing. New challenges, new conflicts. A new world on the ruins of the old. That's why I hope the next game takes place in 2300.

I kinda agree.
As long as the area's aren't under control by something like NCR.
(They're boring, too... Normal... I want to see how the apocalypse has changed the culture of a civilized society. That's a big reason as to why I love Legion.)

I kinda like and miss the metro tunnels of FO3. It may be frustrating for some, but I love that creepy feeling and the dark atmosphere of it.

Kinda agree with you on this. Though I dislike the Legion very much, I rather have the state or country not being controlled by anybody like the NCR, BoS, Legion, Enclave etc. The whole state should be in the midst of huge civil-war and arnachy, with no fractions or individuals having control of the area. And all fractions should be almost the same size as each other unlike in NV where BoS is dwarfed to NCR and Legion.

Then it will go on and on, new civilizations will arrive with new-built cities, technology and all that, America will finally be rebuilt, the post-apocalypse feel is gone, then there is another atomic war and it starts all over again :P

I think any location in the southern states would be amazing, but it would be especialy awsome to have a game revolve around control of the Mississippi River. The river would be a major means of transportation for people and for traders...if its not irradiated to hell like the Pitt. Not to mention being able to explore all those creepy abandoned antebellum homes and civil war battlegrounds. Any swampy areas like New Orleans(which would be especialy cool with its whole cajun vibe) could have mutated gators and other swap creatures while more wooded areas could have things like mutated deer(the most deadly animal in the U.S.) or wolves.

Although I would prefer to see a Fallout based in Arizona, so that we could learn a bit more about Caesars Legion, the open ends in New Vegas makes it pretty much untouchable unless it's DLC. With that said, a lot of people have said they would like to see the Commonwealth in a game. I have this to say, it would be cool to see what the Commonwealth is, but I am stuck between that and New York. I think that they should try to cover that entire area. The only thing anyone really knows about the Commonwealth is that it's home to a mysterious technologically advanced group known as The Institute, there really isn't anything limiting ideas like there would be in the canonically constricting west coast. And to all those asking for a Fallout based in another country, "America's First Choice in Post Nuclear Simulation," so anywhere else wouldn't really be Fallout.

Why is it untouchable?
They just need to decide what ending is canon and then roll with it.

Fallout 4 is most likely gowing to take place in the commonwealth and the story will most likley revolve around our character an android escaping the institute and discovering what it means to be human
while being hunted by the institute and then has the option to join the railroad or maybe either the MW bos or the capital wasteland bos.

Alaska exploring the post war tundra could be sweet, DLC could explore southeast islands, and Canada

failing that: THE COMMONWEALTH

Hawaii would be pretty neat...
molten lava rock deathclaws...

Not unless the whole island was bombed to death, and it's just a floating rock.

My opinion is this.
The fallout series is awesome, but there is an element that has been missing, and that element is the sea. Some bombs must have fallen into the sea and there must be giand monsters and maybe smaller ones, at the "Cloverfield" style.

Personally my two favorite locations with access to the sea are

1) Orlando Florida, Disneyland + the sea = awesome
2) New York, the day they have a great grafic engine then New York will be the apocaliptic place to be.

Commonwealth, with pitt add-on. Keep New Your for something like F5.

Looking closely at fallout 3, I think that you are right, fallout 4 will be in the commonwealth and fallout 5 will be in new york.

Just throwing this out there, that while I don't think Fallout is all about dungeon crawling, one dungeon I would like to have is a cleverly designed, long, maze-like bunker filled with unique security robots/turrets/traps and to allow science, sneak, lockpick and combat users all a unique path through it.
Just saying. >_>

Why not make FallOut: America, wear you can explore ALL 50 states. XD Boy what a game engine that would be! probably no computer out there would be able to run the damn thing. Lol because the level would be so damn big that it would take up a LOT of resources.

My ideas are

FallOut: America
FallOut: Russia
FallOut: China
FallOut: Japan
FallOut: Spain
FallOut: India

anything that would let you explore the country on a geographical scale..
