Official Fallout 4 Location Suggestions #2

Post » Mon May 09, 2011 5:49 am

There have been a number of threads started to promote the idea of a particular location as a great setting for the next Fallout game. We have decided to keep the suggestions and discussion of different location ideas into one thread. Any new threads started about a location idea for Fallout will be locked or moved to this thread.

This thread should be used to discuss the different settings you think would work for a future Fallout game. Feel free to toss around the pros and cons (as you see them) for a new setting for a future Fallout game, but remember to keep any criticism or "cons" about a location within the rules for civil discussion.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1103120-where-should-the-next-fallout-be/, if some of you want to continue any discussion from there

Also, here's a link to the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1108234-official-fallout-4-location-suggestions/. And also, here's one to the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1135968-fallout-your-state-here/page__p__16619250&#entry16619250, which we're redirecting to this one.

I would like to see somewhere with what once was a heavily forested area, like the Pacific Northwest. To see Deathclaws rushing you through dead trees would be great and terrifying. Maybe even toss in rain and if it works snow. How awesome would it be to be able to track things through the snow, or be tracked yourself.

This topic is for suggesting locations, not for voting on already-suggested locations.

The Commonwealth would be really cool; maybe locate the game in and around Boston?

Lots of potential there.

I'm still praying for Fallout: Windy City. Chicago and the burbs are made for post-apocalyptic goodness. Not to mention all the possible expansions (Rockford, Schaumburg, Madison, Kenosha, GARY).

Vegas and D.C. are great...but, c'mon. Chicago is the home of the first self-contained nuclear reaction. That has to count for something. =)

Besides...It would just be really awesome to chase Ghouls out of the Merc. Or to do some kind of quest to fix all the Field's clocks. Or to order a "strange meat pizza" from the post-war Giordano's.

It would be nice for FO 4 to be set in at least some of FO 1 & 2's old stomping grounds. And it would be nice for the game to have more than just one big zone for a change.

However how about thinking outside the box and coming up with something completely zany next time round?

How about FALLOUT MARS?

Mankind begins to colonize the red planet. Let's say the US, Russia, and possibly China all have a foothold there, and are busy terraforming the place. Since no country trusts the other they all have their own nuke satellites pointed at each other in a big Mexican standoff just like back home.

On Earth things go to hell in a hand basket. Mars is cut off from home. Realizing that cooperation is their only chance for survival these groups pull together, pool their resources and get to work hastening making the red planet habitable. Or after a limited nuclear exchange, after the most warlike are smoldering ash piles, the survivors try to create something out of the ruins. What ever the case, a world that has been hastily terraformed, and induced with say lab grown animal and plant life, that is also possibly now radio active, would certainly allow for all sorts of bizarre and hellish flora and fauna. And who is to say there isn't some sort of dormant Martian DNA awakened by this whole series of events?

Would a setting like this be necessary to make FO 4 fun? Nah. Does such a setting even make sense? Probably not. Is such a setting fun to contemplate? For me hell yeah. Hey and you never know, it might make a great setting for an expansion.

Oh well that's my two bottle caps.

New Orleans, it could be like point lookout but feature the city itself as well.
it could have regular infrastructure, marshes and a creepy voodoo feeling in the background at certain areas.

Throw in DLCs based in Alabama and Louisiana and you've got a deal.

If I could offer my suggestion, the boys at Obsidian and Bethesda know what they're doing, so why not leave it up to their creative teams to decide?

This topic is more for stopping people from spamming the forum with hundreds of "I wantz Fallout 4 in teh [location here]" topics. One central topic to put all the suggestions in is best.

Wildwood, New Jersey

I mainly like the idea because it is a fairly intact area of Googie architecture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wildwoods_Shore_Resort_Historic_District). They could even include some of the fabulous motels that were demolished in the mid-2000s. It's only as well preserved as it is now because it fell out of favor as a tourist area before Googie fell out of favor, so it escaped a lot of "redevelopment."

For the radio stations, a mix of exotica and space age would really set the mood. (I'm actually surprised that I haven't found a lounge music channel in Fallout: New Vegas yet.)

Really? You're still going with that after the FO:NV debacle?

Pick someplace other than the East or West coast and STOP TRANSPLANTING FACTIONS. The BoS and Enclave have had enough face time.

Originality would be nice.

I'm sort of surprised that no one has suggested a Fallout based in China. I mean come on they were the other huge country in the Great War. It only seems logical to see there side. Or maybe in Alaska and we could see firsthand the battle for the oil that went on up there.

I know a bunch of people have said it already but I think new york would be the best pick. It would be perfect, crazy underground subway cities maybe the garden could be a big city where a bunch of stuff happens. You climb up into the city and it's just ravaged like dc was with all sorts of insane stuff happening. And just to add some different scenery have a bit of long island or maybe upstate ny just to have some extra exploration and regular wasteland scenery. Oh man it would be such an awesome setting.
