Warning, wall of text

Fallout: Tennessee Turmoil (still a work in progress)

Locations (so far):
Oak Ridge
Wattz bar
Bullet town (Milan, actually making shells and grenades)
Forest in between locations (the spiders may have webs hanging between trees, walking into one can get you stuck while being attacked by the spider)

Wild creatures:
Black widow
Tarantula
Wild hogs (maybe with steel razor sharp tusks)
Alligator (mk2, with improved iron/steel armor scales)
Komodo Dragon
Bombardier Beetle
Fire beetle

Domesticated creatures:
Normal pigs, kept for food and leather

Factions:

MWBOS (Barnaky ending), focuses of armor and rate of fire

Weapons:
BOS Submachine gun (H&K MP5, fires small pistol rounds)
BOS Minigun
BOS Gatling laser
more to come (and if anybody has any ideas feel free to post them)

Robots/vehicles:
Pacifier robot (mk2, armed with lethal weapons)
Hummer
Behemoth (mk2 armed with a single 20mm Gatling cannon in a turret on top)
Sherman mk2 (improved armor, armed with M1A1 76mm main gun)

MLA, focuses on mobility and damage

Weapons:
nothing yet

Confederacy, focuses on armor and damage

Weapons:
Confederate SMG (MP40, fires small pistol rounds)
Confederate holdout pistol (Mauser C96, fires holdout pistol rounds, can be set to full auto)
Confederate laser pistol (DL-44, Han Solo's laser)
Confederate carbine (kar 98k, fires intermediate rounds, doesn't require a high guns/small arms skill, and yes, I know it's a carbine in name only, still feel there has to be a beginners rifle for every faction)
Confederate scout rifle (gewehr 98, fires full battle rounds, does significantly more damage than the carbine)
Confederate service rifle (gewehr 43, fires full battle rounds)
Confederate Assault rifle (StG 44, fires intermediate rounds)
Confederate Battle rifle (FG 42, fires full battle rounds)
Confederate Ranger rifle (cowboy repeater)
Confederate LMG (MG42)
Confederate MMG (MG34)
Confederate vehicle MG (MG 15)
Confederate sniper rifle (Sharps lever action sniper rifle)
Confederate Laser rifle (A280 from SW)
Confederate Assault laser (DLT-20A from SW)
Confederate Sniper/scout laser rifle (RT-97C from SW)

Vehicles:
GMC Sierra armed with twin MG15s and a possible HMG variant armed with MG131s
Nightstalker light tank (Panzer 3 armed with 30mm chain gun as main gun)
Panther tank
King Tiger tank

CWBOS/The Capital (the flag could be what Paladin John uses/used as avatar)
if BOS, focuses on armor and rate of fire,
if the capital, focuses on mobility and rate of fire
weapons still to be done

Vehicles (not sure if they fit in, size may be adjusted)
SST3 Marauders (armed with twin 20mm cannons)
C&C 3 Wolverine (armed with 2 75mm short barreled cannons)
C&C 3 Titan (armed with a 90mm cannon, but not as powerful as the Tiger's 88)

Spartans, focuses on armor and some ROF mixed with some damage

Weapons:
Almost anything named after Greek mythology, including several POSEIDON projects, the miniphalanx (minigun) and a wookiee bowcaster renamed Gastraphetes

Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)
Still working on it

Anyway, as said before, I'm hoping for nodes so we can have several locations far apart. Traveling between nodes IMO could require you to own a car, nearby States could also be partially included. I decided to use battle and intermediate cartridges so we don't end up with numerous different ammo types all roughly similar, for pistols I used the holdout ammo (the .22 in Vegas) small rounds (9mm) and regular ammo (10mm). There's still more weapons to be done, so all factions have their own weapons with their own feel.

I don't think the MWBoS and the MLA would be strecthed all the way to Tenessee. Maybe Kentucky, probably a little more west.

Other than that it seems pretty interesting and could be a really good game.

That depends, the main MLA retreated west, but reasonably large group may have been cut off. They could be on the run from the MWBOS, found the place and set up shop. Now that the BOS have found out, they want the place and are gathering their squads nearby. It has been a few decades since Tactics.

Meanwhile, in the South, mutants and ghouls are on the run from the Confederacy, so they head North, fleeing through Tennessee where they allied with the MLA. I'd have the Confederate ghoul/anti-slavery factions use revolver rifles.

Now I have some problems explaining how the Capital got there in such a short time when they have hardly any numbers, but I just want to see them take on the MWBOS. I don't really know what Lyons' policies concerning sane ghouls and mutants are, I think they would have to accept them in some way (but I do think they shot them in FO3, except maybe for companions).

As far as the TVA goes, I think about giving them ties to the Enclave.

I don't know how the player will fit in with all this. If there's anything interesting in the surrounding States that could very well give the MLA and MWBOS a better background, allowing more interaction with the people under their control. Something the Legion lacked.

The Commonwealth would be my choice. You would have the institute, new form of Raiders, Possible Enclave/Brotherhood Of Steel, Old Boston Ruins, Natural Borders to the east, etc.

Having a game based in and around the Omaha area (with a big focus on Offut AFB and STRATCOM) has merit. It would also give a chance to flesh out the Midwest Brotherhood of Steel.

Another great idea that would need some very, very careful writing and voice acting would be to have a game based in China. Though the sheer cultural gap would be almost impossibly immense to properly bridge.

Its not that NYC wouldnt make a good cityscape, but I find myself wondering on the diversity found there. Sure you have central park, the NY zoo and present day huge rats.
But theres not enough wilderness. not enough isloation for NYC to be the game. perhaps i am wong about the surrounding areas, but I am not too sure that i owuld want the nature found in other parts of NY state. I find myself thinking along the same lines for a lot of the east coast, regardless of pre-existing factions or locations like the commonwealth...
I did enjoy the F3 bleekness, which was location based... dunno though..

to me the south west, or even western half just fits better. huge distances between settlements, desolation in an already punnishing environment. more mountainous areas(sorry the appalachinas got nothing on the rockies). possibility for the grand cayon, chimney rock, yosemite (really just a lot of great natural wonder to add to the game environment).. plus you can go from mountians to forest to plains to desert in a relative area. i know most people think of just destert then they think of the southwest, but there is a lot of diversity.

at the end of the day, I want to see what beth can do with the west. not interplay or obsidian. beth, take a road trip if you gotta.

Personally I think that Philadelphia would be a nice place to do it... thats one place, or you could do it like your a group of US Marines who have a highly advanced armor, but they are stuck in China after the war, something like after the nukes dropped and the nuclear winter that followed, they froze, but were thawed out years later, and they awaken inside a space ship (similiar to the one in the Mothership Zeta DLC) but then they find that they can't return home because they are in deep space, but then so they fight to take over the ship once more, and you are the Private, who is disrespected, and they abandoned you on the mission in China, and then when your on the ship, you must fight to first get them out of the holding cells, so you go in and save them then the leader (who isnt very bright since they knocked him out) comes up with a plan to take over the ship and go home but you can't because the ship is in deep space, so you take over the ship and go to the proceeded planet, which is an Earth-like planet, enhabitted by Human like people, where the to largest countries are on the verge of nuclear war, and your squad of 8 spilt to go to the two countries to talk them out of it, except the China, like country corrupts the other half, and you alone must fight to save not only yourself, but your comrades, and this planet, and the many that inhabit it... thats my idea for it

heh, just figured DC ruins is the most blatant,, but indeed, every major city is in ruins (best case, being rebuilt) in the fallout universe

Yes, but there is a reason for some of the destruction in Fallout 3. At one time the ruins were not interconnected through metro systems. They were there I'm sure, but I guess that people were getting lost in the ruins because it all looked the same. I'm sure they could have come up with something better if they had had the time though, something that let people explore more areas. I still want to see the Ordinance Museum that is mentioned, I want to see it really bad. And I want to get the Viper Gauss Rifle that the one plak talks about in the Museum of Science, and the Springfield Rifle. A black-powder single shot rifle that does a crapton of damage would have been fun.

Culturewise New York City would have different things every neighborhood... And as I have said I don't want it to just be NYC, I would also love to see Long Island and Kingston. And if you think there wouldn't be any wilderness then you have not driven through rural New York. It's beautiful with fields of green and giant forests (EDIT- Expansis of woods), after the Nukes dropped that'd all be leveled but could have started to grow back so you will see a ton of wildlife. There's also the large amount of suburbs surrounding New York City, which would probably survive the bombs and become substantially powerful tribes. I didn't even mention how the city itself would be a playground of ruins (Manhattan that is).

Also I believe the new Creation Engine will be able to handle most of a good sized state (New York) as a map (Let's hope), so no need for map nodes however if they were well implanted (Like you can take a train down to a small map that goes from Vault 101 and Megaton to Rivet City. Or (If it were in Chicago) a shutte bus going between Chicago and Detroit (with a Fallout 3/ Fallout: New Vegas sized map there)) then I would love it.

I thought about that sort of thing when The Pitt cam out, I think it should be done like that for moving from place to place. Maybe a stop in the middle that is a small area that you can decide to go back at.

Have you considered looking into the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Gangs_in_New_York_City? Maybe some could be used as gangs, and others as factions. The racial part would probably have to be removed or adjusted for gameplay reasons.

Let's hope the engine can handle it. The way I'd use nodes is slightly different, I'd use the current fast travel system and have larger town already explored, or you can buy a map to set them to explored. Each town would have it's own unmarked locations nearby, but large sections between towns are randomly generated (insert environment here). Fast travel between towns may be disabled until you own a car, but you can use the train/bus for the meantime (at a price). Even when using fast travel, you can be intercepted (including random encounters) along the way.

New York is massive. There is no way any game can fit in the entire state in a believable way for many years.

It gonna be Chicago it's got kinda a story to it already so it's time to go deeper into it the Lake would provide a eastern boarder for the map unless they include Gary, IN into the map
