I still say aliens can fit, tastefully..

All of the 40's and 50's alien stuff was commentary on mans conquering of science and space- that perhaps we went too far in our thirst for knowlege and power and would have aliens come destroy us for it.. or that we had become the aliens, exploiting other worlds to sate our hunger..
It is the exact same thing as gaint ants caused by ratiation and mysterious goo making mutants. They all represent the same things.
they are the same word, in a different language.
They all represent mankind messing with things that we didnt know the consequences to.... look into it.

heck, people in the fallout universe thought wannamingos were aliens.
no, they were just created, instead.. which is way less far fetched, right? ;)

The Wanamingos were explained logically, genetic creations, like Deathclaws.

The Aliens of Fallout 3 had no explaination, because they really were Aliens, and they were just sitting up there, and... you know... retconned all of the lore behind the Great War.

thats cool and all, but i am talking about the conept of aliens. not necessarily the MZ aliens.

The aliens in F3 did have an axplaination, as well.

Wannamings are something that is fantasical, just like aliens are.. but like i said, all of the creatures in fallout represent the same thing, man getting too big for its britches and messing with the natural flow of things- monsters ensue.
So my wondering is why we can do that for terrestrial creatures, but aliens are for some reason excluded.
One of the biggest things i can see making this an issue is that gamesas introduced them. thats about it.

I believe i argued about this with Chris Taylor around that timeframe too, but he couldnt even really give me any answers as to why it isnt feasable. It seemed to me that it was mostly a case of "dont want!" mixed with the anti-gamesas sentiment that was (at least perceived by me) extremely rampant at that time.

I think there is also a sentiment that if aliens are introduced aside from a DLC or easter egg, then the game must somehow be about aliens. like its a game about people fighting aliens.. I dont think it would need to be that big of a role. its not as if radscoprioons are the focus of the game, you know?

What is interesting about alien sightings and all that from before, is that people only tell about them, no one really sees them. There are these people that says they got kidnapped and anol probed, there are these very very grainy pictures of unindentified flying objects, there are the rumors of the military having found an alien/alien ship/doing research about aliens, there's all that mystery. The mystery about aliens and the rumors is what always has made them interesting. And it has always turned out to be a mistake or a hoax. Then there's the movies or comic books that tells fictional stories about aliens, because people are sad that the stories aren't true. The fascination with them are that they aren't confirmed, that they are myths and all that. People refered to wanamingos as aliens because they thought they were aliens, but they really were just engineered monsters like deathclaws as Mako said.
Then there was that easter egg of you finding an old crashed UFO with alien skeletons, with no story behind it, it's just there and it's a real surprise. So it keeps the suspense and the feel of it being a myth no one will believe you just saw. And it's an easter eggs o you can't take it as canon that aliens actually exist in the game. Then the same was in Fallout 3, not the same effect since you've already seen it in Fallout, but you still get surprised when you see it. Although fresher, but it's still just a ship and an alien. A nice little easter egg again, imo it should've been gone the next time you go to see it. It wouldn't been canon this time either.
But then the [censored] part - Bethesda makes a whole DLC concering the aliens and the mother ship and the story behind them and everything like that! And apart from the DLC being rather boring, they ruined the suspense and the myth-feeling of aliens AND made it canon. And also suggest that they've always been there, watching us and maybe even started the Great War. That is just ugh!

Oh, and I also don't want aliens in my Fallout because it's a sci-fi game without aliens. You want a sci-fi game with aliens? Go play any sci-fi game. Actually I don't even like sci-fi games. I enjoy Dead Space, but that's because it's horror and I'm a huge zombie fan and the aliens there reminds of zombies.

it was a scifi game without a gonverment conspiracy faction, until it was added to the game universe.

i am not talking real life peoples' encounters with aliens. I am talkinga bout the pop culture b-movie references of them meaning the exact same thing symbolically as the b-movie monsters that inspired The Master, Super Mutants, Gouhls, Rad anything, giant ants in "them" and so on.

the mistake i think a lot of people make (at least as i see it) is likening them the the accounts of trailer park traash, UFO hokerrs on the history channel and the science fiction genere as a whole.

It is all about using the coprrect context.
people get all upset that gamesas added aliens and i find it silly because they are symbolically the same thing aas ANY of the creatures in the fallout universe.

Ive gone so far as to say that aliens shouldnt be a central theme or fction in fallout.
but not at least recognizing what they mean from a world of tomorrow/SCIENCE! standpoint seems a bit short sighted to me.

I wont beat this dead horse because its a locations thread. I just wish i wasnt alone in realizing that The Master = Aliens, thematically.

that being said. FOUR COURNERS AREA PLEASE!

My thoughts exactly, it fits into the Fallout universe perfectly. I would actually like to see a alien settlement or outpost that you can either attack/trade with/ do quest's for. Be able to go there and military base's for alien weapons and mods, but a junk dealer has a alien weapon or armor mod and has no idea what they have.

Fallout= America

Also What about Detroit? Motor city man I mean i realize that it's a dead city now not too different from fallout games itself, but back in the day it had the auto industry it had style but most importantly for a modern fallout game the music jazz was huge in detroit.

Hopefully Bethesda will never again add Aliens to Fallout and hopefully there will be no more mention of that piece of crap that Bethesda unleashed into the Fallout Universe.

I just see it as one big Easter Egg. The role aliens were meant to play in Fallout. "The Burned DLC"

Dedicated Melee Button: damage would vary on a check of strength+melee skills. it would not be strong as a melee attack from a proper weapon

Even more weapon mods: scopes (red dots, thermal, nightvision, 2x, 4x, 8x, multiple magnification scope, holographic sight), Magazines (basic, extended, double taped, drum barrel, beta mag), firing spring (for firing speed), rail attachments (forward grips, flashlight thats brighter than pipboy light, grenade launcher, baynet), trigger grips, stocks/frame, butt stock/melee weapon butt stock, silencers, barrels, barrel shroud. it allows players to upgrade their favorite weapon lets say a MP5 they get at lvl 5 so it isnt obsolete at lvl 50.

safehouse/homestead: were a player can stash/resupply their things, rest, invite friends when online. has optional raid missions ie: fending off raiders/mutants/animals from it. or fend off player raids (which can be flagged on and off)

build a homestead/colony/settlement: you and your friends can build your own settlement which can be used for a guild base and actually be used to invite ally guilds. has actual shops to food/water/ammo/repair/trade/rest. and like normal homes they can fend enemies.

jobs: caravan bodyguard by escorting a caravan from 1 town to another even with other players from enemy ncps and enemy pvp players, homestead/shop bodyguard, contract killer where players kill enemy ncp's or players flagged for pvp (where players yield higher purse), defend against raids from raiders/mutants, recon missions, pest control, trapper/hunter where people hunt animals for meat/skins, slaver, merchant where they buy goods from 1 town and sell in another.

have every enemy type from all fallout games

weapons from all games and even more new ones. from the return to the P90, glocks, M4, bizon, 9m pistol.

when pvping against player when you 'kill' your enemy they bleed out and you can do a small mini game where depending how far you get and how successful you are you are able to mug ammo/food/water/caps from them before they completely bleed out.

bring back caravan and tragic the garnering

to choose your race: human, cyborg, robot, mutant, or ghoul.

to fast travel from town to town you can ride with a speacial caravan or rent a vichical/horse from a travel guild. it be similar like the travel system you pay for in world of warcraft

new location: new york, niagra valley, Colorado (due to it would recover in real life someone faster due to its high altitude and its vast miltary bases), travel the entire united states, or be the first to be set outside the US like in china/canada/britain/england

factions: have even more factions and bring back old ones: gun runners, brotherhood, outcast, ncr, enclave, various tribes, water merchants, cesars legion (where either one of his kids or lieutenits took over), theives guild, assassins guild, various caravan groups which are at war with each other

choosable origin background: vault dweller, tribal, settlement dweller who set out on own, brotherhood/outcast/enclave member (but no power armor off bat for obvious reasons), a run away slave, a mutant from the masters remnent army, a mutant who thinks for himself and isnt hostile to humans, a new model of a robobrain thats a bipedal, a cyborg that wakes up in a hospital like in new vegas but with no memory who they are

the return of harold or in to trees that are like harold which have spored from harold which would be his genetic sons/daughters that talk

gainable ncp's for multiplayer for when you not in a group/team/party. dogs, cyber dogs, eye bots, protectrons, brainbots, gutsy. something like dungeon and dragons online.

customizable apperance: not only choose how you choose your face/hair/race but your apperance in clothing. from backpacks, satchels, holsters, brandoliers, armor plates, patches, goggles, masks, helmets, boots, belts, scars, tattoos, choosable location of cybernetic implants that are showable. they dont add any bonus stats but for purely cosmetic apperance. have a special menu where you can alter it on a whim (like dc universe online) or go to a shop or your home where you can do it.

even more craftable recipes.

no classes or skill branch trees. give the player to access to every single power/perk/skill off the bat where many are locked until you get to lvl 20 (for example). skills/power/perks are lvl-able to increase their effectiveness. allows for uniuqe character builds.
