Official: Future Fallout Locations Suggestions Topic #8

Post » Wed Aug 03, 2011 6:54 am

There have been a number of threads started to promote the idea of a particular location as a great setting for the next Fallout game. We have decided to keep the suggestions and discussion of different location ideas into one thread. Any new threads started about a location idea for Fallout will be locked or moved to this thread.

This thread should be used to discuss the different settings you think would work for a future Fallout game. Feel free to toss around the pros and cons (as you see them) for a new setting for a future Fallout game, but remember to keep any criticism or "cons" about a location within the rules for civil discussion.

To elaborate on two points made above, "setting" can refer to a time and situation as much as a place. This thread should also be used for any such discussion for any potential Fallout titles, not just Fallout 4.

I say the Mid West (Take a look at my map, the second picture in that albumn is that same map in reality), it's a place where many interesting factions could meet (MWBoS, what's left of the Enclave, and Caesar's Legion could be there too).

I would like to see it in Washington, around Seatle or Mt. Rainier. It's virgin territory untouched by the lore. It makes for a great area to create new factions and really flesh out the lore. It also offers environments that have not yet been seen.

EDIT-@Mitheledh, I made a map for that a while ago (first picture in my aulbumn that is linked in my signature.

And I think an Alaskan game might turn out well if there is not a third BoS splinter faction...

Maybe the player could start out as a CoS sent in to investigate if they are determined to leave any BoS chapters out of the map.

That map covers too much area. It'd require way too much scaling to fit it all in, even with a map larger than FO3's or F:NV's. I'd probably put Seatle at the north end and Mt Rainier towards the south end of the map. Even in that space, there is still a great deal of area to cover with lots of possibilities and types of environments. It'd cover everything from the coast to the city to forests to the mountains and valleys. There'd be some great wilderness, urban areas and small towns.

And the dense temperate forests would big a big change from what we've been dealing with so far.

I'd also reduce the size of territories controlled by the various factions and center the story around the rise of a new dominant power in the region. Or an attempt to unify it, much like the NCR or Caesar's Legion.

That could make sense, perhaps somebody could've stolen BoS tech or reports of a very advanced group reach the BoS and they send some agents, maybe they shouldn't be your character but NPCs.

And it wouldn't be being determined, it just makes sense lore wise.

I have an idea, perhaps the stories about the rise of the Olympian Empire, you can try and destroy it by joining another faction that's already established or you can join it.

Also, this could use map nodes (not traditional, the way I stated it on the suggestions thread).

What exactly is the Olympian Empire?

Ummm, whats with the signature Bro? If you are referring to our debate it doesn't apply because there is no specific lore in the areas of discussion.

I wouldn't call the mutant faction "United Remnants". Sounds too much like the Enclave and could confuse some players.

I'm not a fan of the node/sandbox hybrid idea. I'd rather a straight sandbox.

I wouldn't go with the groups or regions as you have them set up. Too well defined and too large. But the rise or formation of a nation I think would make for an interesting story. I'd make the area a much more feral or primitive region. A lot more warring factions, seeking to gain territory, etc.

Seatle would be mostly overgrown. Mutant mountain lions and yao guai would roam the forests. There are some opportunities for tech in the area, as well. It is the center for large technology firms. Software, anyways. Maybe a tribe hanging around the old IBM building in Seatle.

Well the Unity was made up of supermutants (destroyed by the protagonist of F1) and the Enclave wouldn't change it's name

I'm looking at Vancouver Island right now on Google Earth and it looks like it would be the perfect landscape. If they could make a settlement stretching over the water from the Eastern Coast of that Island and the mainland(maybe Johnstone Strait) it could be an interesting development. What do you guys think?

It's called Mutant Liberation Army. This was established in Fallout Tactics.
OT: I think Northern America is a much. Be it North Western America (Oregon, Washington, Montana, etc) or North Eastern America (Michigan, Wisconsin, Canada, etc).

A map starting from The Rocky Mountains to Bitterroot Range would make the perfect map with natural borders but enough space to create multiple settlements. So Alaska, Seattle( and the landscape to its north), and The Rocky Mountains(around Philipsburg) would be my top three choices.

Incorporate some waterworld-ish things too! Not bad.

Better be bigger than Skyrim!!
