Official: Future Fallout Locations Suggestions Topic #9

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 9:07 am

There have been a number of threads started to promote the idea of a particular location as a great setting for the next Fallout game. We have decided to keep the suggestions and discussion of different location ideas into one thread. Any new threads started about a location idea for Fallout will be locked or moved to this thread.

This thread should be used to discuss the different settings you think would work for a future Fallout game. Feel free to toss around the pros and cons (as you see them) for a new setting for a future Fallout game, but remember to keep any criticism or "cons" about a location within the rules for civil discussion.

To elaborate on two points made above, "setting" can refer to a time and situation as much as a place. This thread should also be used for any such discussion for any potential Fallout titles, not just Fallout 4.

I don't want myself to repeat, but I posted my opinion on the Future Fallout location on another thread that was unofficial.

Well, I would like the next Fallout to be in Chicago, we heard already about Chicago, but never been there. I heard there's some Enclave outpost in the ruins of city, which I would like to see Enclave's still alive. And as we all know, Chicago was very technologically advanced city and all that, but Chicago was fairly damaged during great war. So, I assume there should be good place for traders and groups of people that are craftsman, mechanic and that type of people, which can be a some faction. More like descendants of the native Chicago citizens. They should be trying to recreate Chicago. Those people should live in camps or towns made of metal junk, having available all kind of technology, from heavy weaponry to robots through the broken technology from other factions and repaired by them self. I am not sure what faction should act as antagonists. I would like if you could join the Enclave once. They may act like Powder Ganger gang in New Vegas, as evil, but outlaw faction, or as neutral, after they were defeated twice they may not have leader and just be remnants. There should appear some new factions and old too, like NCR, Brotherhood or even Legion, but I have no idea how Legion or NCR could get there. :lmao:

Chicago FTW. I say that because they're so many things that can be done here. Nuclear power was pretty much invented here and the State of Illinois has more nuclear power plants in it than any other state. 3 of which are close to Chicago. Argonne national Laboratory is the U.S's first science and engineering research national laboratory. They also have white deer there. There's also Fermi Lab.

It'd be interesting to see them based in Huntington, West Virginia seeing how it is the largest inland port in the states and it'd be interesting to see a game with a mountainous location.

A couple of people (meaning WONDERWOMBAT and I) have been coming up with ways they could be put into other Fallout games as a mercenary group that you can get hired by.

They are planned to be cut out in future Fallout game?

No, I believe he means he wants really big mole rats to come back, ones that were twice the size of current mole rats.

In Fallout 1 and 2 there were these Mole rats as big as yourself. I've also seen some kind of concept art of a huuuuuge mole rat, which was used as transportation, a guy riding it. It sounds silly, but looked badass.

Chicago area or Devner and the area around it.

And yes I was talking about the really big mole rats from the Original Fallouts.

That is so extremly [censored] beautifully awesome and I want it! The idea of riding on a mole rat sounds so silly, until you see that concept art! It's a monster, imagine how people would react parking that thing outside a settlement before you enter.

I am for alternative means of transportation, like mounts and vehicles, in a future Fallout game, preferably the next one. Of course that calls for a bigger worlds (or that sandbox/map node-hybrid we've been talking about), and of course no really fast vehicles like it'd be a racing game. Or nothing over the top like your own vertibird with mini nuke bombing capabilites. I just want to explore the wasteland with a different experience (I mean, getting ambushed by a raider gang that tames giant mole rats (they'd be like those goblin warg riders, ha ha ha ha!) and then sometime you get to meet the leader who rides one of those big mofos!.. which of course would be like the only one in the game, and hard to obtain because it wouldn't be insta-obedient to you just because you've killed its former master), and then when I travel I want the option for it to be a bit faster, and so we won't need that fast-travel feature :) (except if that is remade with the sandbox/map node-hybrid system where you travel great distances between "minor" sandboxes, that could be settlements, on a world map with different features (like in F1/F2/FT but more up to date). And fast travel if you use something like... a train to travel, or do a caravan job)

Btw, I think it would have been awesome http://savagebeatings.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d4b7jwp

It's about 3,000. Just think though, you want the game to have a similar vibe to the last ones, so advancing so far into the future so a faction can be somewhere else isn't a good idea. Caesar's Legion would need a splinter faction or something who just travels far away from the core region. All of the BoS didn't get up and leave, they sent a group specifically to go there. No way a faction would just expand 1,000 miles in a time fram of say 10-20 years.

For the sake of not pissing off old Fallout 1+2 fans again, Bethesda should find a compromise that suits everyone. Make Fallout 4 a TES-style sandbox game like Fallout 3, BUT on the West Coast. San Francisco or the Greater Los Angeles area would be cool... the Hub, the Boneyard, etc.

What pisses off alot of Fallout 1+2 fans is that Bethesda made a TES-style sandbox game, instead of a Fallout Game. We have already been to San Francisco and LA and there is no reason to go back to any location from Fallout 1 or Fallout 2. Last thing I want is Bethesda messing around on the West Coast.

Yup, that's a Fallout 1+2 fan opinion. And I agree with it, btw. But Bethesda is making Fallout 4, there is no way around it. And Bethesda is all about TES-style sandbox games. That's what they do. So they should find a compromise. So I think Fallout 4 should be located on the West Coast. Maybe not San Francisco or Greater L.A., but somewhere on the West Coast. Fallout is a West Coast game.
The major thing I didn't like about Fallout 3 is that it's located on the East Coast. Not so much the sandbox-style (even it has also nothing to do with the old Fallout games), but the East Coast thing.

So Bethesda should make Fallout 4 a New Vegas-like sandbox style game on the West Coast.

They let Obsidian make a Fallout game so I am hoping they learned from it. Yeah Bethesda makes TES games but I am hoping they will take another chance like they did by letting Obsidian make New Vegas, and make a Fallout Game. A real RPG.

Bethesda should stay away from the West Coast. East or Midwest is fine but the West. If their plan for Fallout 4 is just another TES game with a Fallout style make over then for sure they should just keep it on the East Coast.
