I think the best places for the next fallout are 1) Buffalo/Niagara area or 2) the South East (preferably near the Mississippi). This is for the following reasons.
One I do not think the next game should be anywhere near where previous games took place. Enough time should pass in those areas so before making a canon ending so not to make a persons choices in the game redundant. I mean what is the point of doing whatever you want if the next game chooses a cannon ending.
Two these are areas that havent been done so this could be a area where obsidian can make a game that does not interfere with the story made by Bethesda.

Buffalo would be a good place because it is next to the commonwealth and Niagara falls. Also it could include Toronto, so people that want to see a place outside the US would be happy. Toronto was hinted as a military power in the pitt. a confrontation between the commonwealth with the synthoids and Ronto would be cool.

The south would be the best though. Cape Hope was a great DLC and I would love to have a game similar to that. Plus if it is next to the Mississippi we could have a DLC anywhere on the Mississippi. Or we could have a DLC about the only diamond mine in the US in Arkansas. Blood diamonds in the US. A international touch in the US that could appeal to people. Or New Orleans, etc. There are many places in the south that we would enjoy.

Being from New York, I can't help but think that it would be the perfect setting for a Fallout game (especially in the winter). However, seeing as how DC and the surrounding areas in Fallout 3 got hit much harder than the ones out by New Vegas, there probably isn't much of New York City left. I believe Texas has the size, population, and diversity to make a great Fallout setting. With cities like Dallas, Houstoun, San Antonio, and Austin, I'm sure alot can be done.
Last but not least, Mexico is right on the border...

I would like Philadelphia or Seattle, or a Midwest location that isn't Chicago.

Could be interesting to have locations near Canadian border or even a little Canada itself.

Hawaii, anyone? It is a US state after all (considering the devs said that Fallout would not take place outside America), and considering its geographical isolation, I think that it would be interesting to play into the real history of Hawaii or Japan, and have a bunch of factions squabbling over power in the Hawaiian islands have their "Black Ship" moment with the arrival of an NCR fleet exploring the Pacific. Some would use trade with the foreigners to their advantage, and buy modern weapons to give them an advantage, while others entrench in their traditional ways and resist foreign influence by trying to kick the foreigners out entirely.

A few things; Fallout isn't leaving America (anytime soon).

Second thing, you want Fallout to get to number 11? The 4th (5th, really) hasn't even come out yet bro.

You disgust me!

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Please explain this. Did Bethesda release information on (at least one of) the games you mentioned?

Yes, and the game wouldn't work out of the US of A.

Alrighty then campers I would freaking love to see a Fallout New York, would also love to use New New York but the "new" thing's gettin a bit tired out I think but I digress I think you guys at Bethesda could wreak havoc on New York in the best way possible it just has so much potential.

1)The statue of liberty
Of course this would need to be in there but ut could be rusted up and fell apart along time ago and all that it would be awesome.
2)The USS Intrepid
I think this is one of my favorites an aircraft carrier in the harbor of New York you could fallout it up with some vertibirds and all manor of fallout foolishness it would be so so sweet.
3)The Federal Reserve in New York
The Federal Reserve has a bunker underneath it and at the bottom, tons of gold bricks ripe for the pickin (Quest hint).
4)The Empire State building
This massive monolith could be the source of much exploration, or possibly civilization with a system of rail cars and ziplines to traverse the city rooftops whatever it would become i'm sure it wouldn't dissapoint in the least bit.
5)Central Park
At 843 acres this would be potential for the wasteland located in the city's rotten heart with a beautifully tempting city scape in the distance.
6)Grand Central station
With New York's subway system the metros would definately make a comeback with Grand Central at the center who lives there? An army of gouls, blood thirsty raiders, or is it simply another stop on a traid route that runs the twists and turns of the sub-way system?
7)United Nations headquarters
I think it would be very interesting to see what the Fallout team could do with a location like this as well

I think all of this has tons of pottential and theirs probably so much I would never think of that is why New York is it in my opinion. So

Bethesda we come before you as mere mortals that you may be gods!

Is this something I can simply Google or does the information exist somewhere within the bowels of this forum? And I thought that he meant the 4th AND 5th games were in production. Little did I realize he (gnrfan) meant the 4th game could be construed as the 5th.

Do not listen to what gnrfan has to say about anything, all he wants to do is spam crap. And the info can be found on Google I'm sure.

What he meant is that a 4th game, or even a 5th game, is not even in production yet. He replied to that guy who said there should be Fallout 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 etc. while Fallout 4 hasn't even been announced yet (and personally, going so far that you name a game Fallout 8 is just.. .well... they should know when to stop)

Fallout should stay in the States, a big part of the setting is the 1950s America thing, wouldn't be the same somewhere else.

My personal Choice for setting is New Orleans. It’s one of the few truly unique cities in America. Crazy Inbred Cajuns, Mutant Alligators, through in some Voodoo as well. Would pretty much be the opposite of NV with an abundance of water.

He meant that Fallout Four is actually the Fifth Fallout Game, only it isn't;

-Fallout 1
-Fallout 2
-Tactics
-BoS (May not be canon but it was made and it does have the Fallout name so it is included in the Fallout title list)
-Fallout 3 (Actually the Fifth!)
-Fallout New Vegas
-Fallout 4 (Not announced but it'd be the SEVENTH!)

Good to see Bethesda/Obsidian use the GTA method of numbering games.

EDIT: On topic I would personally love to see a Fallout Montana/Wyoming/Idaho that establishes the Khan's forming an empire in the North-West as canon. I do love me some Khans. :3
