I would like to see several things from Morrowind returned.
First of all, I would like to have more choices again in the items (weapons and armor).
Bring back medium armor, bring back different types of throwing weapons, make seperate skills again for short and long blades, spears, axes etc.
When asked why they removed all these from Oblivion bethesda simply answered: "Because not many players used those anyway".
That is a flawed answer in my eyes.
If you wanna remove all things from Oblivion that weren't used much I think you would end up removing alot, what would be left in the end?
Take books for example. How many people do you think read all the books in game? So why not just remove all books from the game right?
It's not because the majority of people use A and B that you should just throw overboard C.
I want choice bethesda, choice adds to the immersion of the game!
Second, it would be nice to see the travel system and quest description from Morrowind returned.
Immersion is everything in TES games. And the fast travel function is just lame and lowers the immersion for me.
Personally I found the system in Morrowind to be perfect.
There were several means, believable/convincing means, to cover the greatest distances (Silt Striders, mage faction teleports, personal teleports, boats, ...)
But just clicking on any location on the map and instantly get there is just not doing it for me, sorry.
But the fact is that, without those believable means of fast travel, you are kinde obligated to use fast travel, or it will indeed get bothersome walking the rediculous distances.
Bring back the old ways, or at least make it an option in game so players can select whether to enable fast travcel or not, and see that there are means to do without.
Same for the questing.
Cutting the quest descriptions in half and putting a marker on the map to brainlessly follow doesn't cut it for me. Immersion, remember?!
And saying that if you don't want to follow the map marker, just don't look at it, would also be a flawed answer.
The problem lies deeper. The quests are built around this marker system, often not even telling in your journal where to go, so you can't get around using that marker.
Bring back the old way please. I want to read the quests to see where I need to go, I want to get descriptions.
Again, make it an option at least to remove the marker and build your quests again in a way that we can do without it.
Third I would like to see the item leveling removed. And to some degree monster leveling.
Walking around and knowing that you will not see daedric armor and weapons yet, that they not even exist yet, because you are not high enough level yet, does not exactly add to the immersion.
Its a nice feeling in rpg's to see a guy in full daedric armor, knowng you better not screw with him until you get more powerful yourself, knowing that not everything and everyone is below your skills all the time.
One of the driving factors of rpg's is the feeling of getting stronger, being able to squash opponents you once feared.
What is left of this if you level everything around the player all the time?
Fourth, I would like to see less repetitiveness in the main quest.
Please don't make us close 10.000 oblivion gates again, that was just below every standard.
This made it seem like you either were completely out of inspiration, or you were not gonna make your release date and solved it the ceap way.
Fifth, please use more voice actors and bring back the cool dunmer voice instead of the gay one.
Sixth, bring back more factions to join.
The great houses, the imperial guilds, there was so many choice, all removed in Oblivion.
See my first point; i want choice bethesda!
And seventh, give us a pc-worthy interface again.
I know this requires some extra time and effort but it is one of the biggest annoyances for pc-gamers and something that personally irritates me endlessly.
Normally the elder scrolls games were no-brainers for me to buy.
But if I, after oblivion and fallout 3, have to cope with a gruesome console interface again, I seriously doubt I will buy your game. It's a principal thing.
The community can't fix this with mods you know, they can at most make smaller fonts like they did, but they can't change the entire interface system.
And besides, leaving that sort of things to the community isn't realy a good sign.
There are more things I would like to see changed.
But these are the major ones that realy bugged me.
