Official Multiplayer Thread

I would like to see something interesting involving TESV and Multiplayer! Hmmm... I think there might be a way - in fact I know that they could do it - to, at least, create TESV to involve a multiplayer function added to the Arena. That would be cool!

or you could add an auto Downloader... problem solved

Except, point being, that quite a few people choose to not patch their game depending on the circumstances. Fallout's 1.5 (I think) patch would be a prime example, as players widely claimed it broke the game more than fixed it. And while, yes, I'm sure fixes were released, it doesn't change the underlying issue that players should be the ones to instigate patching if they so choose.

And the mods really do add an impossible layer to the whole thing. Bethesda can't very well set up auto-downloads for content they do not host and are not responsible for.

I think it would be cool if they implemented a, say 5 player questing system, a trading system and some sort of combat games. For anyone familiar with runescape, it has been a long time since I have played it but something similar to Castle Wars for the combat game.

Or a kind of "capture the flag" with teams and players of nearly the same lvl.

do sort of a two worlds thing where there is a separate multi player character you have so that it doesn't hurt you single player character and have like 2-6 players that could do things cooperatively like quests and kill things and once the multi player game is done you keep your stats you gained but the world isn't affected and when you go back everything is back to normal. It saves the quests you did as well. Also it would be cool to add a little customization so there's not everyone wearing daedric or glass armor all the time.

Like some of the others, I think an arena type deathmatch thing would be ok. Can't imagine anything beyond that though. The quests and dungeons would have to change in difficulty depending on how big a party is.

TES MMO just wouldnt be TES imo. a TES online game? i think it should be capped at like 10 players, wouldnt be servers, one person would host a game, and others would join (if your internet cant support hosting 10 players, then you can just join others, im running at around 5mbps down, and can host for 10 players fine on Gears Of War 2 lol)

it would be rather simple i think. well, not setting the game up and stuff, just the story line thing. i mean, Morrowind the boat could've got caught in a storm, and crashed, then some survivors (prisoners) made it to the land. and one would be the key character in the game (host chooses?)... Oblivion, well can you say "Prison Break"? lol. the only problem i would have is the fear of it being like Fable 2, where the other players wouldnt really be noticed. i mean, you could do EVERYTHING with just 1 person in Fable 2. make it Require some teamwork if the game detects more players, increase the creature spawn rates or something, and make NPCs react to all of the players just normally :)

just my opinion on TES mutliplayer.

No, not an mmo, but multiplayer, yes!

I love the idea of having up to six people to party with. It would liven up the game and I would love the chance to play with my brothers and my friends. You would have to add in a revival spell to the game, so you can bring back fallen allies, but it would be fun!

Well here's my idea for CO-OP none of this MMO nonsense thats what WoW, Runescape, ect are for. Anyways...

It would be a drop in drop out sort of thing plus it would have SOME aspects of Fable 2 as in like one... So if your friend would want to jump on in then it would go to some special menu where they set up and stuff. Once your friend jumps in he looks EXACTLY how his own character looks BUT he'll only be refered as an Adventurer or Friend of the champion of He will not be able to join guilds but still be able to help his/her friend to continue through the questline. If your friend decides to be 'cool' and try and kill your own '' then he will be delt with accordingly by being sent to jail and a fraction of his money will be transfered to you. You can fight each other but only if you go to a special location like the arena. (also Beth should add bosses that are almost impossible to kill alone and give achievements so that you and your friends have some stuff to work for)

I also have an idea for an arena type thing.

It would work just like a traditional arena but with some tweeks. You enter the bloodworks and there is a special NPC that you talk to to set up fights and such. This will take to a almost lobby type thing that you see in most vs online games with the whole Quick match (just jump into a random match) or you can search for a match under your own preferences. There will be a number types of fights like a Team Deathmatch type thing where its like 5v5 or something, maybe a objective type match like a seige or somthing, or/and perhaps a survival were you and 5 friends try and survive hordes of people, then your classic 1v1. Hopefully Beth will add variations to the arena settings like adding walls and trees and stuff like the ancient rome type thing. Now pending weather you win or lose you'll have a online rank (completely seperate from you offline questline rank thing) so if you have a certain win/lose ratio you'll be like a gladiator or somthing. You can rise though the ranks and unlock special items for your character like a special weapon or banner ect. (also everyone gets a default armor and a variety of weapons to choose from just so it doesnt get too unfair)

I'm pretty sure its only going to be one or the other but hey a guy can dream.
So tell me what you guys think.

I wouldn't really like an arena only co-op. To me it wouldn't really be worth it. Yeah you get to kill each other, wooptie-do! Most people want co-op because TES can get kinda lonely and people would like to party with their friends. I know I would definitely want a co-op system of 5 players MAX. Two players isn't enough in my opinion you need more so you can have an adventuring party.

mmo? no, it would get too crazy. with the ability to hit whoever/whatever you want, you could still be learning the controls then someone just comes, kills you, takes your stuff, and waits for you to reload. plus, the respawns would have to go fast, because there would probably be like 50+ people doing the same quest at a time. i wouldnt mind if they made just a little game thats just an arena, and you would fight to the death with someone else in the arena. it would be like an actual competition, someone would end up slaughtering everyone else and would get the title of champion

Nobody understands an MMO

You can't kill whoever you want, some npcs are set to friendly, and unless your on a pvp server or in a pvp area, you can't kill each other. All an MMO is, is just a multiplayer game with patches and more content added every months.

Then i believe that the majority of people would say the exact same answer as the majority of people on gun topics, and i don't really need to say what the answer to that is :flamethrower:

personally i think it should be just a temporary server played on with an average completion of the map based on how much of all quests are completed

I'd be happy if it was LAN co-op. With small parties of say 4-5 max.
PvP TES would be full of power-abusers and high-level factions that would kill the experience.

An ES MMORPS would make sense though. I have nothing against that now that Zenimax Online exists and so Beth's time would not be taken up doing that (thus, we continue to get single-player ES games at the same time).

Look at it this way. WoW is old. There'll be a time in the near future where Blizzard is not going to be able to keep their players happy just by creating more expansions. People will start to leave WoW because the graphics are so outdated and frankly, the gameplay is stale.

Someone has to fill the massive void left by WoW. Bethesda is the best company to do that. What other series of fantasy role-playing games is as popular as the Elder Scrolls? The ES series has a huge fanbase. A huge fanbase that would pay a lot of money to play with friends in an online version of TES.
Despite what a lot of purists would tell you, this wouldn't ruin the series. Think of all the cash Bethesda and Zenimax would rake in. This cash goes towards building the team bigger, hiring better people, buying better technology... they'd be able to make big improvements on their games.

Levels wouldn't be a problem if they were ditched completely. But that's for the Suggestion thread, so I won't elaborate on it.

If Zenimax makes a multiplayer Elder Scrolls game, I won't buy it but it'd draw in a nice new crowd, so I'd like that.

But if Bethesda tried their hand in it, I'd probably stop being a fan. Look at what Bioware's doing to the KotOR series. "We could make a great sequel everyone wants... or we can make another crappy MMO game that a few thousand people like and everyone else hates, and CALL it five sequels!"

Don't worry, this is the official thread so it doesn't count as thread necromancy.

Also, don't be so sure, Zenimax seems to be acting like a TES MMO would be a good idea, even though the general consensus is [censored] no.
