Official ontinuation of the Fallout Bible ?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:10 pm

Wouldn't it be great if someone at Bethesda would consider continuing the famous Fallout Bible ?

Obviously they already used the original one as main reference to keep the canon of the Fallout universe but F3 created many new questions that could be answered by a official continuation of the bible. The Fallout bible is for instance the only explanation to how Harold from F1 and F2 ended up on the east coast of the USA.

For instance :

- What is the story of the nuke in Megaton ? Obviously it is a u.s bomb and was not dropped but was inside a bomber which crashed and created the crater. That old woman in Megaton, forgot her name, gives a hint to that fact when you ask her about the story of the town. She says "All people think the bomb made the crater, but it did not"

It would be nice if this could be clarified to remove the arkwardness surrounding Megaton.

- What about the Delta IX missile in the impact crater in Vernon Square ? Why did a u.s nuclear missile fell down on Washington DC ? Where did it come from ? What was its real target ?

- What about the children in Little Lamplight ? Why does none of them seem to have parents ? And if all people in Big Town are grown up little lamplighters, then why does no one of them seems to be a parent of these children ? Do they grow on trees ?

- What exactly happened to Vault 87 ? Reactor meltdown ?

- Whats the story of Vault 76 ? Was it only mentioned in the game to give a hint where the non-Ghoul inhabitants of the capital Wasteland come from ?

So many questions :hubbahubba:

On the one hand, I don't think they care enough to try.

On the other hand, I don't think it would be to such a detailed standard if they did.

Yes, Bethesda can't win with me, I'm aware of that :P But I honestly believe both of the above. You might even say I'd dare them to do better. And it would be great if they did something like a Bible continuation and that it was acutally good and answered more questions than it raised. But I really don't think it would go down like that. I imagine their PR would just feed us a load of crap and expect us to nod and go bang our heads against a wall.

If i'm bethesda I'm thinking 'HELL NO'.

Fans were hard enough on Chris Avellone imagine the crap they'd give Beth given half the chance. Fallouts fans are amongst the hardest to please in all of videogames.

Given that Chris Avellone is at Obsidian now, and they are working on New Vegas, how about Bethesda give him the Fallout Bible to continue? :)

That could work, especially considering the obvious love he has for the fallout series and the enjoyment you can see in the Fallout Bible that he got from interacting with the fallout community.

Unfortunately, given Bethesda's approach, and given that they're the publisher, it's pretty damn unlikely.

Indeed, and I doubt that he would be given the same resources he had at his disposal while he was making the original fallout bible, it seems highly unlikely that any unused or future design documents would be released to him.

How predictable.

Ummm... they have released a couple Elder Scrolls "bibles" even as recently as with the Oblivion Collector's Edition.

But I don't suppose they involved as much fan interaction as Chris Avellone's Fallout Bible, did they?

Oh , right ! Totally forgot about that.

Im sure Avellone would be up for it but on the other hand its surely not his decision any longer to set anything into stone regarding the current and future Fallout canon.

Does anyone know if he's actually involved in the team for New Vegas at all ?

I mean that he works for Obsidian does not mean that he's involved into the New Vegas development.

He's currently still working on Alpha Protocol, but once it's finished, I expect him to join the New Vegas team.

By the way, in terms of keeping the existing lore organized, The Vault is currently the unofficial continuation of the Fallout Bible. :) And is actually closer to the format the Fallout Bible was originally conceived to be than what Chris eventually ended up with.

Yeah i know. Its just that they can only archive already known things but cannot answer the unanswered question.

They can just speculate just like us.

They are not kick out till there 16. It's not hard to believe they reproduce at the 12 - 16 bubble. I think the kid nurse address working with the baby's.

I think this is as simple as the bomber crashed and some of the pay load went boom. with the chaos of 10/23/2077 it would be a stretch to think it crashed due to bombs dropping in all directions.

Yeah, I don't think it's a stretch to say 12-16 year old kids would have no problem creating babies with no parents or morality to stop them.
