Really is there no one else annoyed by the bullet time dragon shouts. Does everyone feel that it wouldn′t be annoying to have the game slow down 300 style as you should out your words ? Please tell me I′m missing something... and the magnetism will svck, I hate not being in control of my character like that, if I shoot straight I shoot straight, not past my friend and into a nearby goblin, may as well just have a target system then like in WoW, target goblin and then watch as your spells fly in every direction but always hit the goblin.

Magnetism doesnt effect what you do, it makes the enemies stay closer together.

@alucard7. Why is it pointless? If people keep saying they want realistic games well there giving it to us.

@AliTheLord I'm pretty sure that we'll have to use a shout at some point in the game.

From the French mag:
-For consoles : the "block" action is performed by pressing both trigger buttons at the same time. Each separatly correspond to the action of what you equipped in one hand or the other.

Who should we believe? A possibly poorly written Playstation magazine, or the French?

Really is there no one else annoyed by the bullet time dragon shouts. [cut cut cut]

So don't shout those words. Jeezus.

In what way is it meaningless?? Just because magic and stuff exists doesn't mean that our physics can apply equally to the world. Clearly we know they do.

No I wasn't trying to say that. I'm sorry. Please look at my edit. I explained it better.

I dont think magnetism will be as strong as that, it'll probably be subtle enough that it wont be like WoWs autoaim i think - afterall the devs aren't stupid!

as for the shouts, who knows how it'll turn out like? I imagine it to be a really high level shout that'll do that, perhaps its a necessity to counter the dragon that can control time (i think theres one?). Think of the force powers in jedi knight outcast, i dont see why they cant apply to a fantasy setting as a magic spell.

The spider sneak attacks must be awesome! I guess torches and staring at the caves ceilings will be my new obsession :D

You know you do get spiders that dig holes in the ground, they jump out whenever something approaches...
You're f--ked now aren't you

Not if you don't do the main quest. If you don't like it that's your problem. Oblivion gates got pretty annoying, but it's the main quest, and the game needs a main quest.

The bit about blocking and the controls is in an interview with Todd in the Playstation magazine.

Well that would at least make me a bit more content with it but I really don′t want a 300 style TES game where I′m always slowing down and doing some fancy moves and then time is turned back on, it′s like screaming in your face "HEY YOU! You are playing a game! We emphasize this and break all immersion you had as you were being chased down by that dragon by showing you that you are not experiencing it first hand but seeing it from a camera perspective (we just placed the camera inside your eyes :D), a camera with the ability to view things slowly! You can stop running now, the dragon isn′t there and you can always load because this is a game".

It says you can press both trigger buttons to block? ... when you're dual wielding / wielding sword + magick ?

And for those of you who have been hiding in a cave lately: THERE'S A COOLDOWN TIME ON THE DRAGONS SHOUTS. You can't spam the shout button.

-There will be some enchanted weapons which don't tell you what they do - so you'll know it's magical in some way but you won't know how exactly, you'd have to find out yourself - (this would most likely apply to the things you find in dungeons, ie people wouldn't know about it so the PC wouldn't either untill it's used)

This is a wonderful detail - reminds me of the "mystery tech find" chart in tabletop skirmish games I used to play... didn't know what the item did till you tried it out in a battle (sometimes with spectacular results).

-They talk about dungeons; one in specific which they go to on a quest *Minor spoilers ahead* called 'Bleak Falls Barrow' - it is inhabited mainly by the Draugr (the undead guys in the screenshots we've seen), a 'ghostly dragon priest' who bursts out of a sarcophagus to attack and startle the player and the 'boss' of the dungeon - a giant 'Frostbite Spider'. They said that they were proceeding through the dungeon when it dropped down from the ceiling where it was hiding, it was said to be terrifying.

Wow, this is exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for in dungeons. I pity the arachnophobes among us even more now, though.

-The game apparently looks amazing in motion, with great environment effects such as the wind making the water swirl and make waves.

...

-"Every big settlement is unique. The city of Markarth Side, for example, is set into dramatic stone cliffs, with buildings teetering on the end of sheer drops"

Yep, I can picture that. I hope no one's afraid of heights...

But it's not 300 is it. You just killed a highly magical being and have absorbed its soul. Harnessing its power is not breaking immersion.

soldiers and warriors threwout history, from old days to now, have given accounts where when high on adrenaline they might experience periods where things seam to move slow.

I think they mean that they will do this with dragon shouts without adding any lore based reason for it, at least it sounds a little like that since they didn′t say "Slow time dragon shout" but "Bullet time dragon shouts".

Alright, so perhaps my metaphor isn't based in reality since I ahven't playd Sims.

What I'm getting at is that they keep making thing more realistic. The crafting, less backpedaling, questgivers who are more vague, gurgling blood (get the occlussive bandage, stat!), swirling water, etc. It just seems that the designers have two things in mind:

1) more realism
2) better combat

Hope that makes a bit more sense

That does make more sense. Thanks for clarifying. In that case, I agree with you. They are making the game more realistic as the series goes.

Loving the new information! Thanks for posting this :)

My favorite bit of information is the directions being given based on your disposition (all characters having natural jobs is a close second only on account of it not being new information).

Whoooooooo Go Bethesda!!! :celebration:

they've spoken a little bit on dungeons and its enemies and puzzles

What did they say about puzzles? Or am I missing something in the OP?

My favourites:

- "Taverns will play a large role in getting information, gossip and rumours from a town as it's naturally where most people go after working and you can listen to peoples conversation and learn more about the town and/or skyrim itseld - it's a lot more natural."
* Sounds really nice! That's exactly how it should be like! :D

- "There will be some enchanted weapons which don't tell you what they do - so you'll know it's magical in some way but you won't know how exactly, you'd have to find out yourself - (this would most likely apply to the things you find in dungeons, ie people wouldn't know about it so the PC wouldn't either untill it's used)"
* Awesome! Now that I think of it, it was kind of strange the player always knew exactly what the enchantment was. This is interesting and well thought of by Bethesda.

- "People will be more vague or specific when talking to you or giving you quests depending on how much they like you."
* Sounds really good. Hopefully this means all kinds of quest markers will be gone. The one who wants good directions should make sure people like him/her. If this is what I think it is, purely awesome Bethesda!

- "They mention some new spells such as one which acts as a shield against magic"
* Sounds as if the Shield spell will be completely and utterly awesome. This is going to be great!

- "[...]a giant 'Frostbite Spider'. They said that they were proceeding through the dungeon when it dropped down from the ceiling where it was hiding, it was said to be terrifying."
* :D :D :D

- "The game apparently looks amazing in motion, with great environment effects such as the wind making the water swirl and make waves."
* Looking very much forward to seeing it in motion!

*************************************
- "'Magnetism' in your attacks draws them more towards enemies rather than allies so as there is no 'friendly fire' in bigger battles."
* I hope this will be very subtle. It can be useful, but it can also be a pain. Still, it should be optional by a setting (like with crosshair). How good people aim, even in big battles, differ from person to person.

Thanks for taking your time and sharing it with us!
I'm very impressed by Skyrim so far! :celebration:

So you're whining about the name. Come on now, be serious. If BGS puts dragons in there that, when killed and their soul absorbed grants you awesome powers, then it's TES lore. Because they just made it lore. OK??

it′s because bullet time is a term most commonly used in todays gaming community, your making demons out of shadows and focus on the words themself, rather then the meaning of the sentence.

From the OPSM magazine I have:

Todd Howard:
"If you don't have a shield [and] you have a one handed weapon or a two handed weapon, left trigger does block with that weapon. But once you put a spell on that hand, you can't block because the left trigger is that [spell]. We wanted to make that more of a choice - just by your play style, you can't do everything. So whn I'm using a the fireball in my hand and a weapon, I cannot block. I'm being more aggressive in that manner. There is a magical spell that is a magical shield as well, but that primarily as a magical defence and doesn't really stop melee attacks. So we wanted a lot of the decision to be, "I have all the spells and I have all the stuff, what am I equipping in my hand?" And you can set your favourites and then use that menu: It's hitting the D-Pad, then I assign it with the triggers, so it's very quick to mash up those styles."
