Official Plug-ins

If I have the Morrowind GOTY version, do I already have the official plug-ins? It seems that it came with the most recent official patch. Thanks.

If you have the GOTY version, you have the main game and the two expansions (Tribunal and Bloodmoon), all fully patched. The 'official' plugins are free downloadable content released by the Bethesda devs; you can find a list of them http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Official_Plug-ins with descriptions, and download them http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_plugins.htm (or http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=5987 for the cleaned, bugfixed versions).

Thanks for the link to the cleaned ones, Helena. So far i used the ones downloaded from the official site, but as i see at the PES link they contain gmst's.
Didn't knew that.
and yeah, with the GotY no official plugins are added. Have the goty myself here.

edit: hmm, the plugins are also available on PES, but nowhere is described that the official plugins contains gmst's.
So do they have GMST's or is it just a personal edit?

There was apparently (from what I've read) an early release of the basic game which was labelled "Game of the Year", and then there's the later and more common GoTY release which contains the expansions (and which patches the basic game as well). If you didn't get the Tribunal and Bloodmoon discs or files, then you've probably got the early release.

There are also several other official plug-ins which are not included in either GoTY release, but which are available for free download.

That early version of GoTY has me intrigued. Where did you read that info?

There was a "Platinum Hits" version of Morrowind released before the expansions had been released. This version had "RPG of the Year" and "Game of the Year" awards shown on the front cover. http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/bigboxshots/1/480241_75142_front.jpg
So, it can be confused for the official GOTY unless you realize that it uses the original artwork, and not the updated artwork that includes the Tribunal/Bloodmoon symbols.... http://www.supergamer.sk/images/Morrowind%20GOTY.jpg

Thanks for the pic Pluto.
The cover artwork for that release looks like it's MW non-GOTY done like Bloodmoon. Would have been cool to see that style as full standard boxart.

I'm well familiar with the black and gold GOTY box art :)
Pic of one version of the Australian editions of MW GOTY - http://s34.photobucket.com/albums/d126/Lord-Ingram/?action=view¤t=morrowind.jpg It's missing the paper sleeves for the Tribunal and Bloodmoon CDs. There's also a version similar to that which has a deeper disc clamshell designed to hold 4 CDs with no need for paper sleeves. And yes I have both those versions of MW GOTY. :)
