official plugins GMSTs?

Post » Sat Dec 19, 2009 5:11 am

I know when modding GMSTs can be very bad. However looking at the official plugins I see a few have the same GMST moddifications. Are these bad? And should they be removed? or left in.

Thanks

Just make sure they don't have the default values before you start removing them. There are legitimate reasons to have GMSTs in a mod (although I don't think the official plugins changed anything like that).

Not all GMSTs are bad. The only ones that need to be removed from your mod are the ones introduced by Tribunal and Bloodmoon

Just for the record, the GMSTs in the official plugins are superfluous, but not Evil. That is, they duplicate values of a small number of GMSTs from the masters, but do not change them, so they are relatively harmless. Evil GMSTs are evil because they change some of the values of GMSTs and that will affect gameplay.

In any case, the GMSTs in the official plugins can be cleaned without worry.

I agree with you, but I wonder if you tried http://yacoby.silgrad.com/MW/Mods/escog.htm ?

Actually, I haven't. I've been using http://code.google.com/p/mlox/wiki/Tes3lint and http://code.google.com/p/mlox/wiki/Tes3cmd.

First thing I notice with escog, that was so easy to see what GMST is evil or safe. When I clean the official plugin I've from GMST, I don't have any problem to do so.

This is only the case if you don't *want* any of those GMSTs changed. If you do, they'll conflict unless you load the intentional alterations after. IMO they're best cleaned for that reason.
