Agreed Fully. Also no fast travel (It breaks "Reallism")

There's already an option for no fast travel, it's called "don't click on the fast travel button"

They should make melee combat better. It was not bad in Oblivion, but the only way i see to advance from it without making the controls too hard for consoles, is dark messiah-style combat which is awesome and would seem a logical choice if they want an actual change for the (even) better when compared to the previous games.

They definitely need to fix fast travel, though. None of this instant teleport+time warp, which does break the game in subtle ways.

My suggestions are the followings :

1. Like in Morrowind, it would be great to have a wide variety of light source (light (the magic thing...it was present in Oblivion), torches (also present in Oblivion), candles, lanterns, bug lamps, and all kinds of candles and lanterns).

2. Like in Morrowind, we could use A LOT of weapons like (type of weapons that are not in Oblivion) : crossbows, darts/ throwing knives/ ninja stars, spears. ... Just use all of the weapons from The Elder Scrolls serie, including the GOTY editions.

3. In Morrowind, the Levitate spell was fun, but if it not in TES V it's not a problem.

4. As you did with the PS3 version of TES IV (making better graphics/skins), you could do the same with the next game and in addition to it take the time to program it for the PS3 (ok, I know it takes more time then with the Xbox360, but if you don't, the PS3 version will have more alias than the 360 version....like with all the multiconsole games). And we can't denie the fact that the PS3 has supperior graphic capability, compare to the Xbox 360 (thanks to BluRay). (It would be sad if it was just a port, like much other games...) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEXro9yZpZs&feature=channel This the best "console war" serie. It is nutral, and it isn't crap.... just watch them all.

5. In Morrowind, the Nord had an immunity to frost (well resist 100%... that's immune), and in Oblivion he had good resistance to it, but not immunity. So for TES V, because it will be in Skyrim, could you bring it back to immune.

6. Like me, everyone alse are dreaming to just have a command box on the console versions. The console could in the menu / options, as the cheat option. The interface could be as so : (when selecting the cheat option, it would quit quit the menu screen) There would be cursor directed by left directional pad and a keyboard directed by the right one. The cursor would be used to type the letters and click on items and characters, in the player's view. The keypad would be a normal one, but one exeption... it would have an up / down button, to select previously typed codes. And the entered codes and effects would be diplayed the same way it is in Oblivion.

this one thing, i really hated in oblivion... HAND-HOLDING... i know alot of people will agree, it just made oblivion feel so much smaller with the compass and everything that ya couldnt even turn off...

if they put a compass in this game, i hope they let you turn it off, atleast...

oh, one more thing... i hope they bring back total freedom like in morrowind...

being able to drop quest items, cause i hated, in oblivion, certain items that were counted as quest items, even though they shouldnt be, and you were unable to drop them, such as a certain piece of jewelry...

when i say freedom... i mean being allowed to go EVERYWHERE... in morrowind, as i recall, every building, every door, could be accessed in some way or another, either with keys or magic...

but i can not count how many doors in oblivion were blocked off... so many doors had keys that didnt exist, so there were parts of the game i never got to see, that were RIGHT THERE in front of me...

having keys for doors is fine, but PLEASE allow us to break them open with magic again... no matter what they lead to!

thats mostly all i want... morrowind's freedom, and no more of oblivion's hand-holding, or atleast the ability to turn it off if they do put it in for the people who liked it.

what are things you guys hope they put in or leave out?

also, if theres already a topic like this... eh, sorry? havent been to these boards in quite a long time...

Certain doors required a key because they were part of a quest. And accessing those places early could screw the quest up and potentially cause bugs.

Things I want:

1 Handed staff-this irritated me beyond belief in Oblivion. A staff is a 1 handed weapon.

I want to see the element on my enchanted weapon, not just a glow (ex. If the sword does fire damage, have a flaming sword)

The last thing I want (yes, I know it will NOT happen), is a way for console users to get SIMPLE mods (armor, weapons, small additions like houses).

also if your gonna add followers/companions, whether they are common followers or main followers to where you can socialize with them and know their past history and such (prefer that; cause side quests can get involved too :D) have control on what weapon they use and wear. i hated how i would try giving cassidy or veronica a sixy outfit and they won't wear it cause the armor was too weak for their clothing to out match. right now, you should be able to control on what they wear <.<

What I'd like for Skyrim can be summed up in one word: Diversity. I want there to be several types of each monster, even if it just different textures. There was some of this in Oblivion, but I'd like to see more in Skyrim. More diversity of body shapes, a wider range of animations for specific actions. A range of different tilesets for dungeons, etc. This sort of thing.

One thing I would love to be implemented in Skyrim is some form of guild marking, because let's be honest... there is just no way that that random guy in skingrad hates your guts due to the fact that he knows you are a part of the mages guild.
I might suggest a form of neck tattoo with each rank you achieve in a guild or some other form of visible marking.

Morrowind style armor with greaves, boots, cuirasses, pauldrons, and gauntlets.

And be able to wear shirt, pants and robe with all above at the same time.

2- Spellcrafting
Yeah, it would be cool to be able to find a tome of sorts and make your own magic, tho not sure how would they made cost system.

I want enchanting back too.

Also no werewolves vs vampires, that's so homosixual these days.

This is one thing I'd like to see them bring over from fallout. It would require a better AI, but that was required anyways.

The controls would be pretty simple. The grab key (Lb on xbox 360) would become an order button when you have your weapons drawn. Pointing at the ground and clicking it would be a "move to" order. Pointing at an enemy and clicking would be an "attack" order. Pointing at a container would be a "loot" order (if that's necessary). Whenever you haven't got your weapons drawn, your companion automatically follows you. This would then also work with summons. If you've given a "move to" order, they stay there unless there's an enemy very close to them, then they attack that enemy. After that, they return to the position.

This could also make speechcraft and personality useful. You might be able to convince more people to join you on a quest or dungeon hunt.

People were complaining about Bethesda's skill system being really general. Blade makes you really good at two handed swords as well as daggers, Blunt makes you good at AXES (what?). Rather than adding a bunch of skills that are really specific and bloat the character customization, which Bethesda clearly doesn't want to do, you could have the normal numeral like Oblivion as well as a bar. For blunt the bar would look like this:

Blunt: 56 ///-/// Hammers/staves |_______v________| Axes

If you use predominantly axes for a few hours of gameplay the marker would get closer to Axe, and you'd get a bonus to axe damage as well as a penalty for hammers. So lets say you start out by mostly using hammers, and max out hammers. Then you get a great axe. So you use the axe for a few hours of combat and you end up becoming specialized in axes instead. This could also work for swords/daggers, AOE/single target destruction spells, block with shields/weapons, potion/poison in alchemy, etc. This has the advantage of allowing specialization as well as being easily understood.

I just read on the uesp that the cities of Solitude and Winterhold are rivals, both are wealthy cities so perhaps we will have the opportunity to do faction work for either the House of Solitude or the House of Winterhold. I think that would give extra diversity to the guilds and could perhaps be related in some way to the main quest.

I do not know if anyone mentioned this already, but I would love it if enchanted melee weapons consumed portions of the character's magicka, to fuel the effect, based on strength of the enchant. I know this would be virtually impossible to balance since there is no such thing as specialization in the game, but it is a thought.

1. fixed-level monsters and NPCs

2. a traditional xp system (I know this won't happen, its a TES sacred cow)

3. Mounted combat

4. flying mounts

5. a significant seafaring aspect of the game, sailing to islands on large ships, having your own ship

6. a deeper mercantile system. let me RP as a merchant, open my own store, interact with customers. different areas have different prices for goods, making a traveling caravan an option for making money.

7. more ranged weapons (slings, crossbows, etc)

8. a dynamic calendar with holidays and seasons that have aesthetic and quest-related effects on the world

9. cooler spell animations (am I the only one that thought oblivion's were LAME?)

10. better face/body customization (took me like an hour to make a hot female dunmer)

11. a "hardcoe mode" of sorts that requires you to eat food, sleep, and drink, more realistic diseases

12. KEEP fast travel (those who dont want to use it, DONT USE IT)

13. get rid of the GPS, leave in map markers (of course an npc can mark your map, why not?)

14. BOSSES, or anything to make dungeons less monotone

15. Full color customization of armor (should have been implemented a long time ago, I WANT BLUE GLASS)

16. more legendary and unique items, but make them a bit harder to get please (difficulty problems may be addressed by #1)

17. more voice actors. I mean seriously. there are thousands of actors who are starving for work in this country. fantasy voice over work does not take a whole lot of skill. we just need more voices, varied voices. go to any university drama program and just pull students and pay them $50 for a whole day of work. they will DO IT.

You know what I would like to see from a RP perspective? Languages...I believe TES 2 had this. YOu are unable to talk to a certain race unless you learn their language. Buy/find books to teach you. Perhaps a teacher in general where you pay a fee...or learn in some other inventive way. I think this would bring amazing amount of RP, and life, back into the series.

  • Minimal level scaling. :excl:
  • No fast travel points available at the beginning of the game or visible on the compass until actually found. :excl:
  • No "pizza slice" to guide quest. Rather, sufficient crafty clues to add to persistence in order to pursue quest. :excl:
  • Custom dungeons such that they all seem unique. :excl:
  • More above ground encounter areas. :excl:
  • More natural looking cave entrances (instead of hut-shaped boulders) and drastically minimize the random boulders. :excl:
  • Streams and small rivers. Also, if water cannot flow out of an area, let it be found there (e.g., Fort Carmala). :excl:
  • Greater number of voice actors with far fewer reused, so we won't anticipate the voice of a particular NPC because of his race.
  • Activity outside of, or even in competition with, guilds. That is, thieving & fencing, spell making (see below), bodyguarding, etc. without guild sanction.
  • hardcoe mode
    • Hunger
    • Thirst
    • Sleep deprivation
    • Fatigue from combat and running
    • Mana overload - potential negative side effect from wearing or carrying too many magic items - with spells, potions, or racial traits to mitigate.
  • Crafting
    • Potions and poisons, of course
    • Spells & Enchanted items, but without necessary guild membership
    • Cooking
    • Weapon, armor, and clothing making
    • Tent making
    • Raft or boat building.
    • Shelter/Home/Castle(?) construction
  • Portable bedrolls
  • "Un-nockable" arrows.
  • More drama in the form of awesome vistas, architecture, events, and stories.
