I don't think you could really get excited for TES V being the cover. I mean there was less than a 2% chance to be exact

Well there's always next time. And the next time. And the next time. And the next time, and by then I probably would have lost faith, by SC 2 would be out and Diablo 3 is coming out some time after that. :celebration:

Well, considering nothing was announced on elderscrolls.com, there's no big surprise here.

Ive been reading this part of the forum for a while and as much as I love reading about all these crazy messages Im starting to loose hope. I respect and love Bethesda for the TES games which are the best Ive ever played.. but Im loosing hope in this new game. Many other big game developers are announcing games well in advance to keep their fans happy... yet I feel we the TES fans are rather shut out from what we want to know. if Beth are in no way soon of announcing the game I think why bother allowing us week after week posting new threads and making us feel more depressed... But is this the best time? before the game comes out? the fact that we know and dont know what to expect? I have mixed emotions. One minute I feel excited the next Im feeling why am I getting uspet....

It's standard operating procedure for Bethesda to keep their projects secret for as long as possible.

All of the excitement for a TES V announcement, and thus the subsequent depression when it has not come, has been generated by fans, and not by Bethesda.

There is absolutely no evidence Bethesda is going to to announce anything within the next two months, and they may not announce anything even then. Rest assured though, they are working on something, and it will be announced eventually.

Yes everyone feels so sure its in skyrim. But theres still no undeniable proof it will be in there. For all we know when they announce the new game it will blow are minds to find its not skyrim.

heh, at this point not much will blow my mind in the way of TESV. I am currently operating on a giant void with a hole in one end.

I feel you. It's especially frustrating considering many, many other game studios are really open and social with their fans. Even really large studios like Blizzard. It's almost as if the Bethesda devs feel some kind of contempt for their fans. (Although I honestly couldn't blame them. Some pretty ridiculous people post here.) The more and more I think about it the more Bethesda's silence starts to seem really bizarre and even off-puting.

To those feeling like Bethesda is "a bit contemptuous", or that the silence is "offputting", I offer this:

The new CFO at General Motors was accused of being excessively cautious about the prospects for profitability. His response was essentially "GM overpromised and underdelivered for too long. Isn't it time we try to reverse that?"

As people have accused Bethesda of underdelivering with Oblivion, isn't the logical course to avoid making promises for as long as possible, so that the ones you make are ones you expect you can exceed?

Peter Molyneux could learn from this too...

I don't mind the wait, tbh, I'd rather it wasn't just another Tamrielic province and I'm just hoping that all this passing time is simply because the game is exponentially larger and more complex than any TES game before it.

If it is just another continent though I do hope it's summerset, since the 'invisible -you can't go that way turn back - walls' in Oblivion were ever so annoying. I'd rather a slaughterfish filled ocean on all sides.

Fortunately you could turn those off.

Unfortunately there was nothing on the othebr side except... a HUGE gaming world, what the hell were they thinking? The land past those barriers is HUGE, like enough room for another two skyrims... uh oh...

Bethesda making promises has absolutely nothing to do with what I was talking about.

You're apparently new around here. It's been this way with EVERY TES game that has ever come out. They aren't going to just say "yeah we are developing this game, pictures coming in a few months".
They show us the game when they can show us the game. When they have working betas for the dev team to play around with at E3 to show us the stuff it can do. That's why I think it'll happen at E3. If it's just in the beginning planning phases, yeah obviously they aren't going to tell us about it yet. It's not even a product yet at that point.
I don't see why people say things like "i'm losing hope in Beth" etc, I mean, lol? As if they owe us something in the first place, and also, what makes you think they ARE going to reveal it soon? They've said nothing. We have no actual facts to go off of, that point towards it. Only theories and ideas based on speculation.

Actually they do owe us - a lot. Without us (the fans) they would have no one to sell their game to. No sales = no money = no company.

But everyone who posts on this forum is like >1% of their entire fanbase. And a good percentage of the people who post on here are ungratful dolts who think they're entitled to everything. They don't owe "us" [censored].

Lol, this forums population = less than 1% of the population that supports and buys Beths games.
And no, they do not owe the fans anything, in regards of giving us information that isn't even viably ready yet. Use some logic and think about that for second and you'll realize how ridiculous you sound.

"If you enjoyed TESting, be sure to revisit the Bethblog for more contests and trivia in the future."

Hope this remark at the Bethblog doesn't mean we will have to wait for an announcement untill they're done "TESting" us.... :(

I agree. We're really not entitled to anything. They'll announce/release whatever they want.

That may be so, however. All of the people that buy their games; this entire forum, those guys who play Oblivion every now and then but don't come on this forum, even those people who have their copies of an Elder Scrolls game lying under a pile of clothes in the corner of the apartment, deserve to know in a timely manner that a new TES is coming out (from the horse's mouth) and it has been a bit too long to be considered a timely manner to announce a game.

They'll announce it when they're ready and not a second before. They seem to be a lot like Nintendo in that regard, only giving limited information about their new first-party games like the next Wii Zelda until they are absolutely certain about the features. Frustrating to fans, but avoids the Molyneux problem of telling the fans the things you want to put in a game before actually determining if it's feasible.

As for me, I think I'll be set. I just finished Mass Effect 2, which is less than halfeway through my BioWare RPG Marathon. Next I'm finally playing through Dragon Age before playing through ME2 again reusing the same character (to see the "import ME2 character" bonuses). So by the time I'm done with those, not only should TESV be announced, but it will likely have been so for some time. Lucky me!
