Official TES V Speculation Thread Number 25

Post » Sun May 30, 2010 10:10 am

Has anyone else noticed the sudden rise in the number of these "dream" comments?

Looks like the Sixth House is working for Bethesda...

I'm not sure about dreams but lately I feel like organizing everything by stacking things on top of each other. I'm having this odd attraction to red colors too...

I was about to comment on that. Don't buy into the propaganda!

I would like it if they did a really big announcement/countdown sort of thing a bit like the Halo:ODST superintendent stuff - It really got interest in the game high.

Bethesda had a countdown that lead to the announcement of Oblivion, but I'd definitely like the announcement for TES V to be more over the top. If they don't have a big E3 announcement, they should definitely do an ARG of some sort.

I wouldn't mind teasers in the form of a free OB DLC plugin...would definitely be 'weird' if they all of a sudden had a 'new plugin' for OB when they haven't made any DLC in years...

Could even be something viral but I never really get into that stuff and that seems a bit too gimmicky for Bethesda.

Yeah but people would say that they're copying Valve, which updated the ending of Portal before they announced Portal 2.

True, but is copying Valve really a bad thing? Hehe.

I wasn't involved with that whole deal, but I also heard it was some very strange viral code that required a whole lot of nerdage (read:intelligence) to figure out. I was just thinking some quest that foreshadows the far-off events of the next game?

I am so ridiculously excited for any news on this game it makes me feel like an idiot, if I was those guys at Bethesda I would definitely come in here daily and just look at all us freaks flipping out over something that we don't even know exists yet, ha!

There is no doubt in my mind that they DO come in here and laugh at us.

Well there's no doubt that fan input has influenced games in the past, particularly from the forums, but pinpointing exactly what they find useful and what they don't is impossible, so on the off chance that one of us actually says something they didn't think of, we might as well keep blurting out our ideas even if they seem to make no logical sense from a game-design standpoint!!!

You just never know!

OblivionDownloads.com is temporarily down for maintenance.

Hmmm do I sense some random probably small thing that likely has nothing to do with TES 5, that I will grasp at for information just because I'm so desperate for an announcement?!

Yes. Valve is the unholy offspring of demons and marketing majors.

Anyone who does not hate Valve falls into one of two categories:
1. Lucky enough to live in an area with stable high speed internet.
2. Never used a Valve product.

I'm telling you, that cover is going to be Gears 3. It's going to be announced this thursday. EGM has already been confirmed to have a story on it for their May issue, but not the cover story, which means than another mag (Game Informer) has the exclusive for a Gears of War 3 cover.

I'm beginning to doubt if TESV is going to be announced at or before E3 now. I was looking at the exhibitor list and Bethesda Softworks is on there, but if they were going to unveil TESV wouldn't they be listed as Bethesda Game Studios?

Well Bethesda has been doing a lot with obsidian and they could have marked it different trying to keep it on the down low...

They probable have some people that spend the day reading the forums and looking for the good ideas and ignoring everything else =)
Thats what i hope for at least

We already know what the cover is, and it's not TES:V.

Hi everyone!

An interesting link:

http://www.gamesas.com/eng/links/gamesas_jobs.html

Bethesda is searching a "software tester" to... test games...
All we know is that Beth is publishing a lot of games and that they have only one "next big project" in preparation in house.

SO, maybe the next big project is in the test phase or Beth is preparing the test phase in searching new software tester... What do you think of that?

Hmmm, well I don't think that job was there before, good find. Maybe they're testing the demo of TES V that they're going to show off at E3... or not... a man can dream...

What I hope is that they're beefing up the QA staff as a pre-emptive strike against the random crashes, broken quests, and random glitches we've seen since Daggerfall.

I will give them props, though: I haven't fallen through anything in Oblivion or Fallout 3. They obviously solved that for the player. (Too bad weapons still penetrate walls too easily). Now if they develop a 64-bit build of the next game, and tighten up the memory management, it would take care of most of the problems we can't ex post facto fix on a PC.

That's interesting for sure. That doesn't necessarily mean that they've only just started testing it though, maybe one of the testers lost their job and now they're looking for another. I'm optimistic though, I hope this means that TES V is complete enough that they can announce it and show it off soon.

Also it is certification testing, which is a bit different than game testing and indicates a very early phase of development for whatever game this is for. It looks like whatever it is is just coming into the alpha phase or just about to, which means they've probably just finished upgrading the engine and the certification testers will be there to make sure it is all hunky-dorey before they actually begin building a game on top of it. From my limited in-house beta-testing experience I know that cert testing is a lot more in-depth and complex than just playing the game and reporting/recreating bugs and issues.

I would bet that Fallout 4 is coming into alpha stage. ESV has been in full-production for quite a while now.
