It's not just 6 months though, it could be 5 months, it could be a year. All we know is that it takes anywhere from a few months to a year, which is why I've been saying it will take at least 6 months.
I've said this numerous times, but I'll say it again, why would Bethesda renew the trademark in January if they weren't going to be able to use it before it expired in July. If they were that far away from being able to announce it, why wouldn't they just let it expire in January? If it expired in January, while it would still take months to get a new one, it would be quicker than waiting until July to let it expire.
It just doesn't make sense, to me, that they would renew it in January just to let it expire in July.
Unforeseen development issues? Too much can change in 6 months. I know this will be comparing apples to camels, but a company I worked for doing 3rd party consulting for Ford had to renew ISO accreditation because of an expiration of "corrective action" with the certifying auditor. The certification was only to last 4 days, but instead took nearly 2 months.
Anyways, this is an interesting point. Why the struggle on such a trivial name in such an immense series of game lore? Why the continuing renewal? You have obvious and reasonable cause for interest. May I add the following?
The basic idea is that use of a trademark is sometimes necessary to identify and talk about another party's products and services This is called, "Nominative Usage". The full review is found here:
